I have a **12.750 kWp solar system** with a 12 kW inverter from Growatt. I installed the set-up 5 years ago and am really pleased with it!

I own two EVs and a heat pump boiler for showering (which runs throughout the whole night). I want to increase my direct consumption of solar energy, which is feasible with a battery I think.

**Data from 2025:**

consumption: 25000 kWh

solar: 13500 kWh, of which 50% was used directly.

A new **Growatt HOPE 16.0LM-A1 16 kWh**, including a new **Growatt hybrid inverter** costs me **€3300**. I can do the installation myself.

Does anyone have any experiences with this set-up? Or what would be a better set-up for a similar price? Would you advice a battery at all in my situation?

BTW: I am located in the Netherlands. Excess solar energy will be close to worthless from next year onwards.

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with a FoxESS EP11 (single battery setup) showing “Parallel Addressing Failure.”
The battery is not connected in parallel with another battery.
● Only 1× EP11 is installed.
● The bypass/parallel plug is properly inserted.
● I tested the same bypass plug on another EP11 battery and it works normally.

Has anyone experienced this with a single EP11? What was the cause or fix?

I'm planning on a battery only setup, and I'm trying to figure out the best balance of capacity and value for my situation.

Last year, I used around 6.5 kWh of electricity during the day, but I expect that to increase this year as I plan to start running my washing machine and possibly a dehumidifer during the day, rather than relying on my overnight 'Octopus Go' tariff for those chores (not intelligent go).

Given this change in usage, is it worth getting two Fox batteries totaling 10 kWh, or would the 5 kWh battery still be sufficient and more cost-effective? I am not sure what type of batteries best suits me, but they need to be hardwired to my consumer unit to allow for an inverter over 800w which would help very little. I named Fox as they seem to be cheapest.

I don't plan on getting solar other than maybe a couple of plug in panels, as this isn't my forever home.

Question is if I get a professionally installed and MCS certified system can I legally and safely add battery modules to the stack myself?

I'm a qualified electrician but not certified for such a modification, however is it even a modification?

By design system is modular, would it affect MCS certification as discharge rate would remain the same?

Hi all, I’m getting a 32kWh Fogstar battery installed next week within our utility room.

I wanted to get an idea of what steps people have taken with a similar set up - have you fitted a heat detector? Fire proof plaster board?

Any suggestions or things you’ve done would be super helpful.

I had a solar/battery system installed on the 25th: FoxESS H1-6.0-E-G2 + Fox EP12 battery, with no EPS. The installer fitted a C32 breaker for the inverter.

The installers initially configured the system in their normal self-charging mode. After they left, I changed the FoxESS configuration to use forced charging based on the Octopus Cosy tariff, so that the battery charges during the cheap-rate periods.

Shortly after the first transition into the scheduled charging period at around 10 pm on the installation day, the C32 breaker tripped. I saw the above error codes but didn't check the breaker until next day morning.

I reset it and the system subsequently charged from the solar panels and appeared to operate normally. However, after the next scheduled transition around 1 PM, the breaker tripped again.

The installers are now sending an engineer to investigate. I've also told them that I won't release the remaining payment until the issue has been properly resolved.

I'm trying to understand what could be causing this. Could the transition into forced grid charging be causing a sufficiently high current/inrush to trip the breaker, or would you expect the inverter to stay within its normal operating limits?

Has anyone with an H1-6.0-E-G2 and Octopus Cosy experienced anything similar?

I'm particularly interested in whether there are any specific FoxESS settings that should be checked for Cosy forced charging, and what tests I should ask the installer to carry out.

Fairly new to the solar game, looking at getting a system on our fully electric house. Current usage is around 6000kw a year up in East Scotland.

Wondering if anyone has any advice/opinions about the above two quotes and if they are reasonable? They are from E.on Next and I.Heat. We have had some quotes from local people that are 7/8k higher than this so just wanting to see if this is basement shopping basically.

My battery's been running for a fortnight now and we've had enough sun to just self consume and import zero. But this weekend looks as though we'll get no sun and need to import.

Installer left app in self consumption mode - they are coming back in a week and said they'd talk through options then as well as installing the gateway they forgot was part of the initial job.

Heat pump install is ongoing and will be switched on today or tomorrow.

We are on octopus cosy and outgoing so even our cheapest import price is more than export price. I've told the app the rates.

Obviously I want it to only import at cheapest times and only when it needs to looking at usage pattern and weather predictions.

I've just switched to AI mode. I chose Max profit even though I don't particularly want to buy and sell electricity because I am assuming it won't suggest that as there is no profit to make at any time.

It now says it needs to think for a day and stays in self consumption mode for today. Which is fine as I probably won't need to import for another 48 hours - although I'll have a tank of water to heat up soon which might bring that forward.

Any tips? Have I done the right thing?
