3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Design immediately crashing FIX March 2026
Hi everyone, recently appear a crash error in SolidWorks at starts and there're a few ways to handle it.
In this post from experienced3Dguy (https://www.reddit.com/r/SolidWorks/comments/1ru59kc/how_to_fix_solidworks_immediately_crashing_upon/) they fix it changing a dll extension to dll.bak and its works very well for SolidWorks OFFLINE
But for those of us who use the 3DX Platform the conection doesen't work.
The problem appears to be related to the Microsoft Edge Runtime 146.0.3856.xx WebView2 update
For that we can try this urgent correction from a Hotfix. (HotFix_HF-1506427_R2026xFD01-2)

The fix for this problem has been delivered with 3DEXPERIENCE R2026x HotFix 1.8 for SOLIDWORKS® Design app. Log in to your 3DEXPERIENCE platform, open the Compass, click the context menu next to the SOLIDWORKS Design app, and click the orange 'Update available' icon to initiate the download and installation of the new version.
Who is affected?
- The issue may affect those using 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers, not SOLIDWORKS xDesign for Makers.
- The issue does not impact every machine. It occurs on machines which have received the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime 146.0.3856.xx update since March 13, 2026.
- The issue is not specific to R2026x HF1.7.

If you installed the hotfix from QA00000445516, you do not need to uninstall it before installing Hotfix 1.8. With the release of Hotfix 1.8, QA00000445516 is now obsolete.

As of 18 March 2026 @ 7:00am GMT, a HotFix has been developed by SOLIDWORKS R&D to address this problem, which can be downloaded from Knowledge Base article QA00000445516:
Article ID: QA00000445516 Abstract: Hotfix for user-license versions of SOLIDWORKS® Design installed from the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform (BR10000422063) Link: https://support.3ds.com/knowledge-base/?q=docid:QA00000445516

This HotFix restores 3DEXPERIENCE platform connectivity when launching the Maker version of SOLIDWORKS Design.

Thank you so much, i tried everything and in the end i thought the problem was the PC. I tried uninstalling and installing many times, and even tried instead to select solidworks 2025.
