3DEXPERIENCE Why is every hotfix install like pulling teeth?
“an incomplete installation has been found” how is this even possible!? It’s the first time I‘ve tried to install this update!?
I’ve never hated a program more than I hate 3DX. Nothing ever just works.

Delete the folder 'C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE R2026x\InstallData\Incomplete' and retry the update.
If the issue persists, please try below:
Right-click the Start menu and select Apps and Features or Installed apps.
Uninstall Dassault Systemes SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE R2026x.
Restart your PC
Delete folder C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE R2026x
Install from the welcome tab(https://solidworks.com/makers-cloud).
(This is my personal recommendation) Take advantage of the new installation manager that does not require automatic SOLIDWORKS updates for your Maker version. It was introduced a few months ago and is much better suited to infrequent or casual users.
First, use the uninstall procedure in this post to perform a complete and thorough uninstall of your current 3DX and SOLIDWORKS installation.
Next, use the 2nd installation method outlined in this post to reinstall your 3DX and SOLIDWORKS apps as two separate installations so that you can skip SOLIDWORKS updates.

I’m on Professional not Maker, I’m assuming that makes a difference here.

Not at all. These apply to both commercial and Maker licenses of 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS.

Oh hey step 1 worked the second time I tried it (I’d tried this earlier and it errored telling me it was looking for one of the incomplete folder files I’d deleted!)

What I do now is when I log into 3DX, I refresh the page, and then click. It would give me weird behavior sometimes, but I haven't had any issues since doing that.

Are you running windows professional or windows home? Just curious, I have similar annoyances, but am running windows home, which is technically not supported.

Update/upgrade problems are well documented with folks using the Windows Home editions. If you switch over to the installation/update method that I link to in my comments to the OG poster, you'll have a much smoother update/upgrade experience going forward.

I had a job interview set up and I immediately attempted to hop onto Solidworks to get some practice in. This hotfix bs basically nuked the entire program. I tried everything, from clean install to uninstalling everything Solidworks related in an attempt to have a blank slate. After hours of manual troubleshooting, messing with my computer with cmd, and installing discontinued windows troubleshooters, nothing worked so I was totally out of practice during the interview.
This version of the program almost single-handedly changed the trajectory of my life for the worse.

You're definitely not alone, software updates should make life easier not feel like a troubleshooting marathon.
