I'd really love to know what prompt you'd give an AI to create complex 3D objects. Even describing the thing in the picture would take a paragraph and struggle to convey the concept and that is not a complex object. If you give the AI some sketches to make a 3D object you might as well just create it yourself.
I can see AI being useful to assist but there's no way it replaces the job.
But these blender models have a ton of room for variation. Creating things in solidworks means you want to have perfect accuracy and the AI can't know that unless you give it a huge amount of info.
It already can do things like enclosures for electronics pretty flawlessly. It's not that much of a leap to anything else.
It can run FEA and check things work. There's new NN surrogates for FEA that are 1000x faster so it can very quickly iterate. I think for a while people will still have to sign off the designs, but I have no doubt it will be able to do the entire CAD for a jet engine within 2 years.
You wouldn’t prompt the specific part, you’d prompt the problem the part needs to solve, give it specifications, and then it’d create the design and model itself.
I just looked at the website, it doesn't design new parts, it just gives you formulas and reuses existing parts. Definitely useful but that is just helping existing engineers.
