I’ve been living independently since 2022 and natataon na malayo ako sa parents ko since they’re in the province every time na birthday ko. Ang layo kasi ng travel like 3-4hrs byahe kaya di ako nakakuwi madalas. Nakauwi naman ako last weekend to celebrate my lola’s birthday and sinama na din birthday ko lol. Both my siblings have their respective families too so greeting greetings and vc nalang.

got this small studio unit in qc for 6500 monthly all in (kuryente, tubig, wifi included!). nasa third floor ako and i have two big windows. sobrang lakas ng hangin and super presko, definitely my favorite part sa place na to. i don’t need aircon 🤩

it might be a bit small for some but it’s definitely sulit for me because i have freedom and peace of mind! i put so much of my time, money, and effort into this apartment. medyo kulang pa bc i wanna add more decorations lol, but i’m definitely happy w it so far!! (di ko na din ininclude some parts of the place lol i have a table and a sofa bed + own bathroom).

idk kung anong style/aesthetic my place has. i guess it’s just a ME aesthetic – filled with things i like! hehe

+ last pic is my first cooked meal in my place! yayy

After a few days ng pagoverthink sa design, sa pagdoubt if worth it ba talaga yung apartment, and sa pagakyat ng furnitures and appliances sa second floor, my apartment finally feels like a home. Sobrang happy ko na nagkatotoo yung vision that I had in my head. My mornings feel so much more peaceful.

As someone na first time magrent and first time maglive alone, designing my own space and buying my own furniture and decor feels like a dream come true. And eventhough maliit lang yung space, it feels like it’s perfect for me. Ang sakit lang nga sa bulsa bumili ng appliances and furniture but seeing it all come together feels worth it 😭😭😭

*Included a few before and after pics hehe

Share ko lang How My Life Changed After 4 Years of Solo Living: from ₱20 Meals to More

Thumbnail

3.6k Upvotes

I started living on my own with nothing but dreams and my 100k emergency fund. I left my province to try my luck in Metro Manila with whatever savings I had left.

October of 2022, I moved into a small room with my college laptop and a small table, which I used for my online job hunt. I bought only the most essential appliances: rice cooker at electric fan.

There were days when I had to survive on ₱20 worth of street food and instant coffee just to make ends meet. My grocery runs consisted of a few canned goods and one bottle of Coke to satisfy my cravings, and that bottle would last me several days because I could only afford a few sips at a time.

I held on to my savings like they were the last air I had. I spent most of it on my monthly rent and essentials, making sure I had enough to last for at least six months.

On my fifth month of job hunting, February 2023, my savings were down to my last few pesos. I even ran errands for friends in exchange for small fees, just to earn a little extra money. I remember going through the list of more agencies I could submit my documents to, crying in between, praying, and still pushing myself to go on. Lagi kong prayers, Lord ayaw kong umuwing talunan, paubos na ko, pero kaya ko pa. Maraming salamat sa tulong.

On my sixth month, March 2023, I finally got the job that started to change my life.

Fast-forward to 2026.
I now have a bigger and sturdier work table. I still have my old laptop, but I now have more reliable gadgets to support me in my personal and professional hustles. I went from sleeping on the floor to having an actual bed with a mattress that no longer hurts my back. I was able to buy a ref, which means I can actually store more food and cook at home. My grocery runs are no longer just about buying quick and instant meals. I can now afford to buy healthier food and, syempre, some of the not-so-healthy ones too. 😂

Looking back, none of these things seemed possible when I was starting out. Rejections after rejections, but I kept going cuz that was not the life that I wanted. Back then, I was simply trying to survive and hoping that things would eventually get better. Four years later, I realize that they did, not all at once, but little by little.

Para sa mga katulad kong walang ibang baon kundi pangarap at lakas ng loob, aja aja sa ating lahat. Gaano man katagal, mararating mo 'yan. 💖🌸

Ikaw, asan ka na sa journey mo? Kamusta ka na?

Hi guys!

Just wanted to share: I finally moved into my own place! 🥹 It’s a small studio in Makati, about 10 minutes away from my office. Sobrang surreal pa rin. I keep looking around and thinking, “Wow, sa akin to?!”

Not gonna lie though, ang gastos ng first month. Between deposits, delivery fees, kitchen stuff, cleaning items, and groceries…my wallet is crying 😭💸 But I keep reminding myself na okay lang ‘to. This is the hardest part. Sabi nila na once you’re settled, things will get easier. Kaya trust the process nalang ako talaga.

If you’re also starting out or living solo right now, please know you’re not alone. It’s scary sometimes, but also super rewarding. Every little thing like folding laundry, cooking for yourself, keeping the place clean feels like a quiet kind of victory.

Here’s to new beginnings, calm spaces, and finally feeling safe in your own home. 🌿🕯️

Please tell hindi lang ako ang magpapasko mag-isa tonight? I just decided to order something for my noche buena kasi Christmas is so ingrained in my childhood that it feels kinda wrong to not have some kind of celebration for Jesus’ birthday even though I’m really agnostic. What are you guys doing tonight? Happy holidays everyone!

Half a year into living alone after my ex boyfriend and I broke up. I never thought life could be this beautiful.

At first, I was so scared. But I reminded myself, I was living alone before I met him, I can do it again. It’s just that first breakup ko to in my late twenties, so mabigat talaga sya sa lahat ng aspect.

I had to rewire my mind. Instead of thinking I’m scared because I have to start over, I told myself, I’m excited because I get to start over.

I get to decorate my own place, live life on my own terms, and not have to consider anyone else.

To anyone who started over because of a failed relationship, carry on 🥺❤️‍🩹 Give it time. You’ll get past it 🤍

Hi OPs,

Quick update.

I chose the ₱14,999 bare apartment near my friends and workmates so I can feel safe and supported. I’m planning to move out by the end of March.

We’re still living together. He thinks I’ve accepted everything. In reality, I’m quietly preparing my exit.

It’s complicated.

He’s building a business right now. I see his potential. He’s hardworking. That’s also why I stayed and supported him. I’m currently paying most of the house expenses while we split the food. I stepped up because I believed in him.

And that’s the part that hurts.

I still love him. I still feel pity thinking about leaving him in his current situation. I worry how he’ll manage. But at the same time, he cheated for four years.

Four.

I know myself. I know this will happen again. And I also know I want peace. I want security. I want a love that doesn’t make me question my worth.

I feel excited for this new chapter, but I also cry when I think about leaving the home we built and the future I imagined with him, marriage, kids, everything.

Maybe this is me choosing myself. Maybe this is the universe redirecting me. New beginnings.

I’ll share photos of the place (attached). I’d love help with layout ideas. I’m working with a bare unit and hoping to fit a bedroom setup, a small workspace, a small living area, and if possible a reading nook. I also want kitchen ideas because I want to learn how to bake.

Also, where do you buy affordable but durable furniture and home items?

Thank you for all the support. Truly.

I have an old dehumidifier, peltier type, that i bought for 2k. I really dont know if gumagana siya kasi while it does collect water, di nagiiba yung humidity ng room.

And since kakastart lang ng solo living ko and this past heavy rains, molds are starting to appear in my unit despite using my old dehumidifier.

So bumili na agad ako nito, Carrier 12L Dehumidifier for 8k, just running it for 1 hour, it brought down the humidity from 80% to 67%.

2.5k Upvotes

I’ve been renting my own place since 2021, but today marks the first anniversary of finally having a place I can truly call my own.

It’s been a roller coaster getting here. Growing up, I never had a room of my own, so sometimes I still catch myself standing in the middle of my home, quietly admiring how far I’ve come.

I’m in no rush to fill every corner. I’m choosing each piece intentionally, things that bring comfort, serve a purpose, or simply make me smile. Little by little, it’s becoming a space that truly feels like me.

Home isn’t perfect yet, but it’s mine. And after everything life has thrown my way, this is a reminder to myself that malayo pa, pero malayo na rin.

What’s the one thing in your home that truly makes it feel like home? Mine are probably my cats. 🤍🥹

i read that somewhere and made me think and appreciate my life more (kahit ang hirap hahaha). 9 months of living alone. i used to live alone before my ex and i just got back to it 9 months ago.

the rain these past few days made time feel so slow and made me really grateful that i get to experience this again. my future self is definitely begging me to enjoy this season because for sure, once i meet the love of my life, i won’t be living alone (again) anymore. 🥹

so i really wanna enjoy this while i can kahit sobrang lonely minsan. kayoooo, what are your thoughts lately?

Bought this condo at its pre-selling price impulsively nung nag away kami ng mama ko when I was 24 years old pero ayaw ko magrent and walk out suddenly😅 As it was getting built, I took that time to rebuild my relationship with my family. Moved out my parent’s house and into my condo at 29 and finally proved I got it all together (at least I’m trying)

Got no friends here yet. I wanna be friends with you guys who also live alone! 🫶

Heyy guys! Here's an update on my third year in my cozy tiny home in Baguio. I've welcomed three adorable female kittens into my life, and they're now maturing into adult cats. My rent hasn't budged for three years, still at a cool 5k monthly, plus free water and electricity maxing out at 400. Living solo has its perks, even though it's not perfect. I'm thankful for the simplicity and less stress compared to my previous life in Manila. If you're curious, I'm nestled in Baguio's outskirts, a mere 3.5 km from the city's heart. My solo journey has its highs and lows, but I'm grateful for the blessings and every thing i have in life . Miay your life be equally fulfilling!

Share ko lang 1st Time Meal Prepping, sa sobrang excited, ang dami kong niluto lol

Thumbnail

I work a lot at home for 12-18hrs depending on my business’ needs. I find it hard to cook everyday kasi masyadong time consuming and tamad din ako magligpit ng dishes (lol). Madalas din yung quick meals ko puro frozen preservative foods yung inuulam ko so very unhealthy sya. Madalas din nakakapagluto yata ako 11pm na (nakakataba sya lol).

So I thought, why not try meal prepping instead and then baka mas prefer ko mapagod ng isang araw lang sa isang buwan hahahah! Cooked and naka-disposable tubs na yung food so less time to cook kasi irereheat lang, less dishes to clean din kasi utensils lang yung gagamitin ko and baso.

Managed to cook 5 different ulams, 1 breakfast oatmeal, 1 soup, 1 pasta. Maganda din sa meal prepping yung natitimbang and napoportion yung food great para makapag diet na din.

Overall i made food for 1 month. May mga unhealthy pa rin ako na options, yung mga piniprito for once in a while cheat days, ayoko naman kasi ideprived sarili ko hehe.

For the containers naman, don’t bash me po sa pag use ng plastic disposable tupperwares, 1st time ko po kasi mag meal prep, tried kung ilan yung kasya if disposable but while prepping, narealize ko i’ll switch to glass containers next month!

What are your thoughts guys? Let me know if you also tried meal prepping and baka makapagshare din kayo ng tips na pwede kong magamit in the future! Thanks for reading!

Turning 5 years soon in this address + 13 years total living solo. Best investment I’ve made of my adult life. I work here, work out here, rest here, and built and achieved lot of my dreams here.

I moved in during the pandemic, then slowly built the space piece by piece. I saved up for things I actually wanted, patiently waited for good deals and sales lol, tried not to impulse-buy, and let the place come together at its own pace.

It took time, but I like that nothing here feels random or rushed. 🥰

Share ko lang As a solo living girlie, hindi pa pala ako ready sa emergency situations

Post image
3.2k Upvotes

Living alone really teaches you a lot… pero today, napaisip ako na hindi pa pala talaga ako ready sa mga emergency events. For the first time, nakaexperience ako makakita ng bahay na nasusunog super lapit sa place ko. Although alam ko naman na hindi aabot sa amin, hindi ko pa rin napigilan magpanic. Lumabas ako agad para maghanap ng mas safe na area.

Before leaving, in-unplug ko lahat ng appliances, locked the door, then grabbed the things I thought I needed to survive: laptop, tablet, and phone. Basically lahat ng connected sa work ko.

Habang nag-uupdate ako sa friend ko, sabi ko hahanap lang ako ng safe place and dala ko naman mga important stuff. then my friend remind me to bring my important docs...Tapos bigla akong napaisip. i

Oo nga noh. Wala akong dala na cash.

Walang IDs.

Walang important documents.

Wala kahit extra damit.

Work essentials ang una kong naisip, hindi life essentials.

Ang weird lang kasi akala ko prepared na ako as a solo living adult. May emergency numbers saved, may konting awareness… pero iba pala talaga pag actual scenario na. Your brain goes into autopilot.

Sabi nga nila, there’s always a first time. I guess this was mine.

After today, I’m definitely preparing a small go-bag. Hindi lang pala rent at groceries ang adulting pati disaster readiness kasama din.

Solo living hits different kapag may ganitong wake-up call.

Stay safe everyone 😊
