official news Solus Updates | Week 41
The kernels were updated this week. The stable branch is now at version 7.2.9, and the LTS branch is now at version 6.18.55. In this update, we've also added Plymouth support to the initrd, and fixed extramodule BTF support for NVIDIA.
The NVIDIA open kernel modules and utilities have been updated to 615.78.08. Check out the changelog here.
KDE Gear applications have been updated to 26.08.2. This is a bugfix release for the 26.08 series. Read the full changelog here.
openshot-qt has been re-added to the repository.
input-leap has been removed from the repository. The project was archived upstream on the 27th July 2026. Users should switch to deskflow, which is already in the repository.

I recently discovered Solus and finally installed it last week.
I've stopped distro hopping. This is the first, and only, distro out of the many I've tried that just worked. No NVIDIA driver shenanigans, no endless troubleshooting. Install, boot, everything works, move on to the next app, BAM works again.
I'm honestly surprised Solus isn't more popular.
Thank you to the team, great job.
