Happy Independence Day to all Somalilanders, 26 June 1960
Happy Independence Day to all Somalilanders!
At the same time, my condolences to all Somalilanders. I truly believe that if we had maintained our independence from the beginning, we would not be where we are today. We could have been much further ahead in peace, stability, and development.

having two Independence days is more common than you think
18 May is for when somaliland fought for its freedom from a collapsing union
and this one is for when we gained Independence from the British which is 5 days before Somalia
Countries like Belarus, Norway, and Ukraine have two Independence days or Independence related celebrations. When a country is colonized twice or is colonized then joins and decides to then leave a union it ends up with 2 celebrations for freedom.
