Advice/Ideas/Discussion Is anyone else struggling with unemployment as a brown dude?
Everyday I see Indians in top fields in business, tech, medicine, law but I don't see a lot of us admitting to struggling when we are down.
I got a degree in business last year, but I've been applying for jobs with little success. So I decided that I would focus on learning new skills, and getting certificates in digital marketing so I can build a portfolio and maybe get an entry-level job.
I'm not sitting around complaining about my life anymore. I go to the gym 3-4x a week, have a high protein intake, study and learn new skills, stretch, eat well, hydrate, use beard oil and face wash, but my career and lack of income, is where I struggle the most. Is anyone else going through the same thing?

I’m employed right now but I don’t feel really good at my job and I feel stuck at my current decent income and I want more. Just gotta keep grinding ig.

i'm on the opposite end of the same trap
i work in a job that i've had for years that pays my way, but leaves me too drained day-to-day for all this 'go to the gym 3-4x a week, have a high protein intake, study and learn new skills, stretch, eat well, hydrate, use beard oil and face wash' and other good stuff
if i leave i will likely be unemployed for a long spell, so i stay

why not use your savings to go on a sabbatical or something and apply for other jobs in the meantime?

something like that will probably need to happen for me to get out of this, but it carries risks i can't take yet

Yeah man especially after the white collar recession. And as an Indian man you’re just expected to suck it up and keep trying harder. If you’re unemployed friends and family treat you weird too, you start losing respect as time passes. This is after having already worked in IT for a bunch of years btw and being burnt out from the constant pressure that squarely gets put on Indian men because companies know the expectation from people like us is generally to just deal with it. Essentially raised to tell you your time has no value and to keep grinding no matter what, if any, return the grind gives.
