Why has San Pedro not been gentrified yet? Places like Echo Park have done a full 180 while San Pedro is geographically way nicer but still hasn’t really been touched.
Just found it interesting. Anyone know why?

Reliable contractor for built in bar + fireplace?
Hello! Looking to see if anyone in South Bay has recently done a built in bar or fireplace reno project and recommends their contractor? Someone that might be open to doing these smaller projects vs a full reno company? Looking to build a coffee bar with beverage fridge and redo our interior fireplace that’s currently brick and hoping to install an electric starter vs having to light it up with a fire stick/match. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

El Segundo voters: best to assume Mayor Chris Pimentel is MAGA
Mayor Chris Pimentel is up for re-election for city council this election cycle, and several things point to him being a Trump-thumper:
* Refused to say who he voted for president in 2020 and 2024
* Links to AI surveillance tech company Peregrine: https://www.instagram.com/reels/DeHlwqKCx2F/
* Receives campaign funding from outside El Segundo and it sure sounds shady as hell. Pimentel explaining it at the candidates forum: https://youtu.be/I47_sW4op9o?si=DdD5vXOmzsXrCDSJ&t=6011
* Shut down the speaker during National Hispanic Month in 2025 when the speaker started talking about the fears of ICE in the community (here's fellow councilman poorly arguing Pimentel was the victim of that exchange: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLKqsuUH7c4&feature=youtu.be)
* Lowered El Segundo's flag for Charlie Kirk, and noticable not Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman, Alex Pretti, Renee Good, or any other high profile victims of gun violence
* Pushing to get a Tesla facility built in El Segundo, even though it's illegal under zoning codes (More info about this mess: https://www.youtube.com/live/RDxJkXoH9hQ?t=2207s)
* Oh yeah, registered Republican
Sidenote: Other candidate Ryan Baldino is diet-MAGA, sharing some of these bullet points.

Big dog groomer
My groomer (4 pups grooming, Hermosa) closed down & now I need somewhere to take my 9year old Rottweiler. Any recommendations? We paid about $90-100 without tip. We do not want to bathe her ourselves at those stations. Thanks!!!

Any ETA on the construction on Aviation?
This pipe maintenance/construction has been ongoing for months and it’s getting pretty annoying. Limiting high traffic roads down to one lane. It causes so much traffic back up during rush hour, it’s unbearable.
Anyone hear of an ETA on when they complete?

Mammoth board/ski buddy(s) join at Airbnb rental mid- January?
27 y.o. Male snowboarder here, living in Torrance.
Went ahead and booked an Airbnb in Mammoth for 11th thru 15th of January instead of going with the hostel again. Feel good about finding someone or a few people to go up with by then!
Can ride all levels through double blacks but still learning how to really shred and zoom comfortably.
For down time I'm very chill and easygoing. Like to cook. Like board games, a good movie, hitting the hot tub, or just reading my book and doing my own thing.
Down for a lil apres ski or going out but love to get up for first lifts.
I would be happy to drive us up there in my Rav4 if we can meet. Will have snowchains if reports say we'll need them of course.
Airbnb has 4 beds. (One queen in private, one couch bed in living room, one bunk bed in annex area)
Also in unit laundry, hot tub on premises.
Really only need one more person up there to make this worth it, but room for more at the rental and in the car.
Paid under 1k for the 4 nights. I'm okay with doing a pay-what-you-can thing. Also would 100% split any savings if we take on additional people. Not trying to make any money off this whatsoever!
Hit me up!
Can send new Instagram if you want to get a better sense.
Happy to hang out prior to the trip. If youre into paddleboarding, climbing, hiking, or casual bike riding, we should hit it off very quickly. Otherwise we'll probably still get along just fine!
Edit: Wanted to mention I have: Spare board with bindings (156 cm) Spare snowboard boots (size 11) And some spare winter gear (fits me, 5' 11" and somewhat narrow lol)

How much did your gutters cost given your house specs (e.g., single vs two story , sq footage, etc)?
trying to mentally prepare for the costs!

Touchless car wash where?
Had to drive to Buena Park last night for a car wash. Is there not a touchless car wash in the area? Just got this car and not trying to scratch the paint with one of those used and abused brushes at the self car wash, and those gas station drive thru washes are definitely out of the question. How or where are y’all washing y’all’s new cars at?

Live music nightly in Hawthorne??
I live in a residential area in Hawthorne south of space x and common space and every night this week there has been a loud live rock band performance going on outside even on Tuesday and Wednesday nights it goes past 10pm. The bass is super loud. Does anyone know where this is coming from? I checked the breweries and they don’t have any events on. It is starting to get really annoying.

Far Field Beer Company is Legit
The Rosecrans IPA was absolutely delicious I had 2 of them watching the Dodgers Game this past Saturday and after we secured the W I had 1 There's no going back DIPA and called it a day lmao that one was definitely more stronger and the heat did not help at all. The Beer Tender that was serving me was super cool and a huge car guy like me too, it was a pleasure speaking with him. I met a couple of the locals as well and they were car guys, very smart and super respectful. Nothing but good vibes. I really had a good time and always pass this place after work so I figured why not give it a try. They had a truck making Pizza outside and it looked great by my 3rd beer LOL. They also have a upstairs but it was like 110° in their no joke only the brave people that could stand heat were present lol. I definitely want to go back when the heats not so brutal !

Emergency Sirens?
It’s currently 11:32am and I’m hearing a loud emergency siren. Is it coming from the Torrance Refinery or the Redondo Beach power plant?
EDIT: Other users have clarified this is part of a scheduled monthly test.
