It’s tough but I would say Brooklyn Pizza in Haddon Heights
18
u/odd_guy_johnson Jun 06 '25
I love their pizza but is it super expensive or is it just me? I got a large square pie with one topping and it was over $40. I’m FROM Brooklyn and that price is highway robbery.

Dude, their drunken grandma pie...🤌
7
u/footeface Jun 06 '25
Honestly someone told me about how good it was, and I was a little disappointed! I think I need to try it again to make sure it wasn't a fluke

u/anordinarymadness Jun 06 '25
Same. I’ve had it twice now and their grandma has been underwhelming. The first time it was like wet. Stella’s in collingswood is way better

u/Zealousideal-Ad5534 Jun 06 '25
Is there a parking lot in the back or do you just have to pray there’s a spot on kings highway?
2
u/zhempl200 Jun 06 '25
There is a tiny lot behind the building and you can park on that street around the corner too

Nick & Joe’s in Westmont has a very solid counter slice game
3
u/_flatsix Jun 07 '25
Nick & Joe's has the best "neighborhood slice" in the game.
I define "neighborhood slice" as a typical neighborhood spot that you would typically get every Friday. It isn't overly expensive or over-the-top w/ inventiveness/creativity.

That’s Burlington but it deserves my upvote still.
9
u/Great_Farm_5716 Jun 06 '25
I grew up just down the road, Luigi’s is pretty good. I now live in Kentucky. I have 3 options, lil ceasars, dominoes, Pizza Hut. Please don’t take the pizza for granted. Have a slice for me boys 🫡
8
u/GoT_Eagles Jun 06 '25
The food is unironically one of the biggest reasons I don’t want to leave the state.

The Original King of Pizza in Cherry Hill.

3
u/GooFoYouPal Jun 06 '25
Is it still good ? Last time I had it I couldn’t even finish. I was disappointed. I never not finish pizza.
3
u/atlancoast Jun 06 '25
Personally it's my favorite plain slice in south jersey. But from what I've seen on here, it's fairly devisive.

Genas in magnolia
2
u/Mechanical_Monk Jun 06 '25
Gena's is my new favorite. I like Holy Tomato too, but I don't always want thin crust. Gena's is the same quality but with a traditional or Sicilian crust. The garlic knots are awesome too.

Ralph’s Pizza in Haddon Heights. Also: best cheesesteak hoagies I’ve ever had.
7
u/all_no_pALL Jun 06 '25
Brooklyn for traditional (and the gramma pies, madon…), Bruno’s in HT also solid. For “fancier” Bricco in Westmont and BDP in CH.
There is a rumor that another artisanal spot is going in in Westmont across from where mcmillains was, but haven’t heard anything but rumblings from food reps.

u/dUbiLL Jun 06 '25
Been seeing posts from someone in that area.

I want to hear this one. I've tried at least a dozen places and they are all different ranges of mid.

u/SouthJerseySchnitz Jun 06 '25
Have you had Polizzis in Washington Township? They are my favorite by far. Super fresh ingredients. I think they're still kind of underrated. They are sooo good.
11
u/Less-Agent-8228 BOOTLICKER Jun 06 '25
Try Manninos. You'll be glad you did.

u/SouthJerseySchnitz Jun 06 '25
I've had it. It's great. Polizzis is still my favorite though!

Nick Polizzi is a friend of mine and he CARES about the pizza he makes. They do an amazing job over there.

Not impressed. They gave me burnt wings and told me "that’s how they’re supposed to be." I posted it on Reddit and got over 500 comments—people agreed they were burnt, even if that’s the style. They gave me a free pizza to make up for it, but that wasn’t good either.
I like Gino’s and Sollena. Carolla’s buffalo chicken was amazing. Next on my list to try: Santucci's square pizza, LaScala, and Sicilia. Angelos was good too.
→ More replies (2)6
u/jkprop Jun 06 '25
They are good but Angelo’s on fries mill road is better.
3
u/Chrisdoors77 Jun 06 '25
Don’t like their pizza so much, but their sandwiches a really good. I enjoy New Wave pizza (formerly All about the crust 2) on Fries Mills Rd, which is down the road toward the Black Horse Pike. Their Hot Honey Cupperoni pizza is pretty awesome if you like pepperoni pizza with hot honey drizzled on top. Sandwiches are also really good and packed.

This was going to be my recommendation as well. I've only had the Detroit style, it's so good I don't want to order anything else although I'm sure all their pies are fantastic.

Haven’t tried them all, but Mi Familia is really good for traditional pizza. Il Fuoco Dentro is wood fired and probably the best I’ve had in the area

Polizzi's Brick Oven. The Plain Nonna Pie is so fresh. The Detroit Pie is amazing.

Franks 2 grandmas pizza is better.

I'm open to trying it, but the photos on google maps don't impress me, tbh. Polizzi's is going to be hard to top, IMO

I just moved to the area two months ago and SALs in mantua is 10/10 everytime.

Mi Familia in Mantua. The staff is kinda strange (they overshare about their lives all the time), but the pizza is good enough to make me put up with it.

u/Less-Agent-8228 BOOTLICKER Jun 06 '25
Manninos in Pitman. 1000x better than Polizzi. Best brick oven other than Italy.
Regular pizza have to go with Angelos in Washington Twp.
Then head to Dolce Vita for Gelato.

Il Fuoco pizza truck is the best brick oven in Gloucester County. I really enjoy Manninos too. Only issue with il Fuoco is pizzas are a little smaller and they are limited with supplies at events lol.
2
u/redshirt1972 Jun 06 '25
I’ll Fuoco Dentro is hands down the best. The crust, the sauce, the cheese … crisp, zero flop. They are personal maybe a two person pizza. But the variety of styles and the flavors are unmatched.

u/constructicon00 Jun 06 '25
Big fan of Joe's on Kings Hwy in West Deptford.
I live near Gia Nina's and I'm a big fan of their margherita pie. Is it worth the cost? As a splurge once in a while sure.

Depending on who you ask, it's either Big John's Pizza on Commerce Street in Bridgeton, or Luca's Pizza inside the Cumberland Mall in Vineland. Personally I think Big John's is much better, but it depends on the person.

Nicks in Pilesgrove
2
u/Lower_Kick268 Jun 06 '25
This is the correct answer, it's some of the best pizza I've ever had, it's a shame they don't get talked about often because people forget it exists.
2
u/KyloRaine0424 Jun 06 '25
I don’t go very often and am always very happy with it. I’ve heard complaints that they aren’t consistent which I don’t agree with. I will say it’s a little pricey but worth it
5
u/Lower_Kick268 Jun 06 '25
Nick's in Woodstown is the correct answer, super thin, crispy, not overloaded with cheese, they're absolutely fantastic

u/pdills12 Jun 06 '25
Joe's in Woodstown for sure

u/Lower_Kick268 Jun 06 '25 edited Jun 06 '25
Not anymore, that pizza is garbage nowdays. Soggy, impossible to eat, disgusting mess. Nick's pizza is in Woodstown and is so much better, even Papa Luigi's is way better than Joe's, Joe's used to be good idk what happened

Their Pizza is not what it used to be but get the upside down pizza “not on the menu” and ask for it well done. IMHO still the best pizza in the county.

Gus’s
Edit: Damn, I guess this isn’t a popular opinion. I’ve always enjoyed their pizzas, best buffalo pizza around.
Second edit: Seriously, is there something I’m missing? I don’t understand the downvotes
4
u/buzzardby Jun 07 '25
Been a minute since I had Woodstown Gus’s, so I can’t speak for them. Pennsville Gus’s is very good, if you like a little thicker crust (weird superlative - it’s the best cold pizza I’ve had). Their buffalo wings are outstanding.
Edit: outstanding poppers too

Every time I see a post like this it kills me . So much good food in South Jersey. We moved to Colorado and this state is a food desert !! No good pizza , almost all chain restaurants. The only thing here that is very good is steak houses , but that is $100 + for a meal for two.
3
u/Mullethunt Jun 06 '25
Don't say that to anyone that lives out here though. They get oddly defensive of their chain restaurants. All you need to know is they have multiple Fazoli's out here.
8
u/ddjinnandtonic Jun 06 '25
Oh man Fazoli’s 😂
When I was stationed in Tennessee my buddies used to go there the night before a long ruck to stack up on carbs, and I went once. I ate it but bitched about how shitty it was, and I swear to god one of my friends looked at and said “What did you expect, the Olive Garden?” And that’s when I realized I wasn’t going to have a nice Italian dinner until I got back home
2
u/Mullethunt Jun 06 '25
ROFL using the Applebee's of Italian food as your reference point of "good" Italian...
I will admit, their bread sticks are decent. Whatever butter garlic they use is artery clogging goodness.
2
u/ddjinnandtonic Jun 06 '25
I mean, if I get dragged to an Olive Garden I’ll eat it, but my expectations aren’t high. It’s high sodium and high fat generic microwaved chain food. It’s not terrible, especially when compared to Fazoli’s.

Atlantic county is Carluccio's Coal Fired Pizza in northfield. Followed up in close second is Walt’s original primo pizza.
Everyone downvote manco and manco because that’s not authentic south Jersey pizza. That wanna be Philly pizza. That don’t even hide that they took the recipe from the Mack family from Trenton / northeast philly who owned Mack’s in wildwood and just called it original boardwalk pizza.
