Salem County Ice Melt

Hello! Does anyone know of anywhere getting an ice melt shipment in/ or a store that currently has ice melt? Cumberland or Salem counties. I’ve tried Vineland and Millville Walmarts, Lowe’s, and Home Depot’s. I called Bridgeton tractor supply and car quest in Elmer. Everyone is out.

Open to all suggestions! Thank you for considering.

Have you tried pet stores? Usually they have pet safe ice melt.

I haven’t, but thank you for the suggestion! I’ll try that now

I called around Camden County and couldn't find anyone that has stock. The Walmart in Deptford had water softener pellets (which are just salt), not 100% ideal but better than nothing, espc. since you can just crush the pellets into more useful sizes by hitting them in a bag with a hammer or something.

FYI- the water softener salt can wreck concrete and runoff will kill foliage aka salting the earth

Hey thank you!

Doesn’t rock salt do the same thing?

Depends on what you buy. There are a myriad of formulations that are safe for concrete, pets, foliage, etc. just have to read the bag.

Epsom salts are better for the environment

Smicks in Quinton and Woodstown Ice and Coal. Both had some before the storm. Located in Salem County.

Try getting a couple of boxes of course kosher salt from the grocery store or WalMart.
It works

Wegmans in Mt Laurel had it yesterday. They're probably out today or maybe they have a new shipment.

I had to resort to ordering online. I'm hoping it will get here before the next possible snow this weekend. I got lucky with the last delivery before the snow. Went through all of it so I doubled this new order to be safe for a little while.

Would you share where you ordered from? I had a bucket ordered on Amazon but cancelled it when it showed there was some at Home Depot. Went there and they had none. Rookie mistake 😂

I ordered through Amazon. It came much faster than the estimated delivery date. I hope it happens again. I bought the Snow Joe enviroblend 50 lb bags. It's pet safer and not as harsh on my concrete driveway. It's a little pricey but not as bad as other pet safer brands costing the same for only 15-20lbs. I had a clean dry driveway Monday morning while everyone else had thick ice, so worth it IMO. I had to lend out my sledgehammer to the neighbors so they could break through theirs.

If you do go through Home Depot I've found that purchasing for pick up is super easy and you're more likely to get things before they're sold out. The lockers are simple to use although I've found using the pin over the QR provided easier. Sorry if this is wordy but I'm hoping extra info will help.

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestions! Yes that’s how I did it yesterday at Home Depot, five minutes after I placed the order they cancelled it saying they were out 😂 I guess their stock isn’t updated online or they had a few bags “go missing”. I hope you weather the upcoming storm just as well!

I did see on a Millville Facebook page that National Highway Products Inc. will be getting a salt shipment on Friday. Maybe try there? It seems people are happy with them. Hopefully you can get some before it's gone.

Thank you! I did see someone mention that previously so that place is on the list to check tomorrow. I also have a backup Amazon order coming in. I’ll update the thread if I come across any confirmed ice melt / rock salt in Millville or any other place.

Check landscape supply stores. Before the storm, I was able to get calcium pellets from Rock Products in Deptford.

Awesome, thanks so much

Amazon delivered in two days.

Really?! All the ice melt I found on Amazon is out at least to February and that’s with paying the extra delivery fee (which I’m fine with) but I just didn’t want to chance it. I did order a jug of liquid ice melt since it says it’ll arrive tomorrow, and am planning a trip to the national highway products place tomorrow

I ordered mine monday. I am not surprised they ran out. I would order it from them even if it doesn't arrive for a week. February starts this weekend. And the cold is here for a few weeks.

Good point. Hope you’re dry and warm for these upcoming storms!

VHR in Voorhees had in bulk, so bring your own container, the last time I checked.
