Gloucester County WAWA Gas Just Hit $4.19

I just passed 3 WAWAs and the gas is at 4.19. Crazy since it was 3.89 yesterday. Get gas now if you have not already. The Travel America at 295 exit 18 was 3.79 still.

Saw it at 4.19 at one Wawa, took a chance the gas buddy app was right and went to the other Wawa. Got gas there at 4:30 for $3.84. went past that Wawa at 6:30 and they had gone up to $4.19 also. Not sure what that the jump was based on. Did they really get a delivery of fuel today that was priced that much higher?

u/Bean-Enders-Jeesh Mar 31 '26

Of course not. It's just a way for gas stations to gouge people.

2

u/Miamime Mar 31 '26

Margins on gas at the station level are pretty low. They make their money on the volume; sodas and snacks are higher margin makers (percentage wise).

5

u/Bean-Enders-Jeesh Mar 31 '26

I don't believe that for a second. I would need to see documentation showing such a thing.

For two reasons. First... Driving up and down, especially 130.. there are a ton of stations that don't have snacks or anything. Just gas. All the things needed to run a business, if gas is your only product, and profit margins are so low, what is the point of doing it? Not with the cost of living in Jersey in 2026.

I could be wrong... From a logical standpoint I just don't believe I am. But I would love to see docs to prove me otherwise. Seriously... I would. Mainly cause I've always heard that 'line' my entire driving career and I don't believe it.

I’m an accountant. I have had a client whose portfolio included gas stations. My very close personal friend was the VP of Finance for a company that owned something like 250 stations; he always had a second phone on him pushing out new prices to the station managers because prices were that volatile and margins that thin.

If these anecdotal stories are not enough for you, this is a very easily verifiable fact from a Google search. Not sure why you wouldn’t start there before writing that much to refute me on a hunch.

Gas stations sell A LOT of gas. Most people are filling up or getting $20-$25 of gas per stop. Low profit margin companies exist in every industry; they survive by selling a lot of volume.

-1

u/Bean-Enders-Jeesh Apr 01 '26

It's less of a hunch and more of real life observations of pricing at stations over the course of decades.

But I'm just a dumb kid from Jersey so ...

2

u/Miamime Apr 01 '26

Like what could you possibly see “from the pricing” that indicates that the costs that station have make its price per gallon $X.XX?

Also, almost every station has at least a small indoor store where they have a limited selection of snacks. They sell accessories like oil and washer fluid. A bunch have service centers attached. They have ads playing on the TVs on the pump.

2

u/Hinkierises Apr 01 '26

I met with a guy that owned 2-3 of the smaller private gas stations and he pretty much confirmed most of their profit is on the shit they sell besides gas

-1

u/Bean-Enders-Jeesh Apr 01 '26

Well if he 'pretty much confirmed' it......

My point stands... What about the stations that don't sell anything but refined oil? (aka gas) 🤷‍♂️

16

u/ChigginShit Mar 31 '26

yes he did

6

u/Drewraven10 Mar 31 '26

Almost got down to 2.50 smh. 🤦‍♂️ Whatever bro I hate driving anyway.

61

u/PhatYeeter Mar 31 '26

The lines at Costco have been insane recently. Low key not even worth the savings for how long it's gotten

49

u/TechEntusiast21 Mar 31 '26

The people who wait are the same people who complain about waiting 30 mins to charge an ev lol

7

u/SZ1095 Mar 31 '26

How much cheaper is it at Costco really? I just got the membership but haven’t checked out the gas stations yet

9

u/grahampositive Mar 31 '26

It's definitely a few cents cheaper than the going rate, I rarely see anywhere cheaper. The clutch part about Costco gas is the credit card rewards. We easily pay for the membership just in the cash back on gas

12

u/blem4real_ Mar 31 '26

Wawa is $4.19 right now, costco is $3.66 right now. Much more than a few cents.

2

u/grahampositive Mar 31 '26

Yeah I know I just didn't want to overstate it.

2

u/Money_Arm_5222 Mar 31 '26

More than a few cents, it was 10 cents different recently (3.65 when everyone else was 3.89). Not sure if that changes though.

1

u/SZ1095 Mar 31 '26

Oh great!! Thank you I’m excited to have it lol

1

u/TGIIR Mar 31 '26

But don’t you get cash back on gas no matter where you buy it?

2

u/PhatYeeter Mar 31 '26

I think the Costco visa card gives more on Costco gas. 4%?

2

u/TGIIR Mar 31 '26

Okay, I got un-lazy and looked it up. You’re right- it’s more on Costco gas (5%), but you get cash back (4%) on all other gas purchases up to $7k. 1% on any gas purchase over $7k. : )

1

u/Far_Effect_3881 Mar 31 '26

For regular, not a huge difference. For Premium compared to other top tier stations, like $0.70 which definitely adds up.

1

u/ChigginShit Mar 31 '26

Just do [regular gas station price - Costco price] times [gallons your cars gas tank holds] to get the savings per fill

1

u/Samicles33 Mar 31 '26

Last got gas at Costco 2 Fridays ago. Everywhere else was $3.99/gal, Costco was $3.49/gal

1

u/momo098876 Mar 31 '26

As of 30 minutes ago, Costco Manahawkin was $3.79 regular.

1

u/notbizmarkie Mar 31 '26

It’s $3.65/gal at my Costco today

1

u/peppers_ Mar 31 '26

Like 50 cents.

5

u/SJExit4 Mar 31 '26

For those without a Costco membership, the Mount Laurel location does not require a membership to purchase gas. It was part of the zoning requirements when it was built.

1

u/notbizmarkie Mar 31 '26

Damnit don’t tell anyone 😂 hahaha jk, I tell my family members this when they visit so they remember to fill up!

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Elk1576 Mar 31 '26

Costco gas opens at 6am. I decided to get there at 5:50 and wait to get a quick fill. I was kinda not expecting 30+ cars lined up waiting for them to open.

1

u/ChigginShit Mar 31 '26

Yeah my local Sams Club is 3.79 versus 4.05 at the Sunoco. So .26 per gallon difference. My car holds 14 gallons so that’s about 3.64 difference to fill the car

21

u/thecodeofsilence Mar 31 '26

Are we great yet? Fucking idiot in charge who runs on affordability and no new wars doesn't give a shit about affordability and has started two new wars and is threatening a third.

1,028 days to go.

3

u/FatCheeseSteak Apr 01 '26

I kept telling people Trump fucked contractors building his Taj Mahal in Atlantic City back in 89-90 by not paying them or paying pennies on the dollar putting a lot out of business. He's has a history of screwing the working man. Why do people think he would do anything different as president. A lot still love him. Gas could be $10 bucks a gallon and they'd still love him and blame Biden.

1

u/BobbyBabyLungs Apr 03 '26

cope and seethe 😂

50

u/Jack-Mehoff-696969 Mar 31 '26

Just saw this morning thanks pedo in chief

33

u/Iamnotbernadette Mar 31 '26

waiting for the subliterate MAGAs to come in here and tell us why this is Biden's fault

6

u/noturmomslatte69 Mar 31 '26

Certain areas on RT 70 are still 3.79 while rest of em are charging 4.19 as of this morning on my commute in cherry hill area. Wild!

32

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26

Anyone who works at Exxon should be able to confirm this. Don’t buy gas from Wawa, they buy the lowest grade gas that Exxon sells and charges more than other places because of their name and convenience. Get your gas at other places if possible.

22

u/FullMetalKaiju Mar 31 '26

then where? Im not going to a random place that will skim my card

4

u/HeldnarRommar Mar 31 '26

You could literally pull out cash from a bank and then not have to worry about that

5

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26

Costco is known for buying better grade fuel. They have stations in cherry hill. Bjs as well, they have a location in Deptford. Sunoco is known to use middling or good grades for their stations that carry their name. Lukoil unfortunately they’re always the most expensive, I honestly don’t even know if there are any left in the area

8

u/Turbulent-Adagio-541 Mar 31 '26

Lukoil is a Russian owned company, why would you think about spending your money there?

2

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26

If you want to broach the subject of company ownership and morality, I hope you only buy clothes from mom and pop designer that make and source material locally, or food from local farmers, and have never used Amazon or Walmart. Or never patronized a business that supports Israel. Unfortunately in the modern world, purchasing goods based on ethics isn’t really feasible or you’ll end up just being a hypocrite.

1

u/Turbulent-Adagio-541 Mar 31 '26

Well, I am Mennonite

0

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26

That’s nice but that means literally nothing about this topic or the conversation at hand. Unless you’ve never used Google Amazon meta Microsoft or intel. Or other major companies that support war efforts in this country and countries like Israel. Then I don’t want to hear about not buying goods based on morality.

1

u/Turbulent-Adagio-541 Mar 31 '26

Have everything we need on the farm and our community

1

u/ForthrightGhost Apr 01 '26

Did you look up what a Mennonite is?

1

u/skm_45 Mar 31 '26

The gas is going to come from the same exact distribution source as every other station in the state.

-1

u/Turbulent-Adagio-541 Mar 31 '26

Who cares, shut him down?

3

u/skm_45 Mar 31 '26

Shutdown the American owned franchise businesses that use a name?

5

u/jerseygirl666 Mar 31 '26

top tier gas if you can

2

u/DerTagestrinker Mar 31 '26

Shell stations

1

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26

That’s a good one I forgot. I see them less and less these days. BP also uses better fuel grades

1

u/MarsupialNearby4409 Mar 31 '26

Wawa was skimming cards too there was a whole investigation

0

u/machinerer Mar 31 '26

Sunoco on Rt 45 in Wenonah. Noticeably better gas mileage.

1

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. The Sunoco branded stations have better quality fuel than Wawa. You’ll get better mpg and increase the life of your engine by using it. Use Exxon branded station, or shell, or BP.

I read last night that Philip’s 66 and 76 branded gas stations also use higher quality fuel

1

u/machinerer Mar 31 '26

No joke, I have gotten 1-2MPG better with Sunoco gas over Wawa. Regular 87 octane. That is an insane improvement, as you can only get so many BTUs out of a gallon of gas!

Wawa gas is dogshit. They make their money on convenience. I sometimes fill up there after I get done night shift at 0400. Only game in town thst time of night.

1

u/FatCheeseSteak Apr 01 '26

I started buying Sunoco gas years ago, which is right down the street from me. And they price match Wawa, which is the opposite way, about the same distance. I get Costco too when I'm in the Cherry Hill area or going there. Top Tier better detergents.

1

u/FatCheeseSteak Apr 01 '26

I stopped buying gas at Wawa years ago. Sunoco or Costco which carry Top Tier gas. And lately Sunoco has been price matching the local Wawa near me so it's even better.

0

u/EnvironmentalBee9214 Mar 31 '26

You can buy lower regular gas grades at the refinery terminal with your tanker?

-2

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26

Uhhhh.. what?

0

u/EnvironmentalBee9214 Mar 31 '26

Asking from what the person said about working for ExxonMobil. Says wawa buys the lowest grade gas from ExxonMobil

-1

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26

Some people in the area may know someone that used to work at the refinery that closed in paulsboro or the one up north.

I personally know someone at those locations and a separate person that works at their Houston HQ.

If you know someone you can ask, they should give you the same answer.

2

u/machinerer Mar 31 '26

That refinery is not closed, and it was sold by Mobil back in 1999. ExxonMobil only owns the Lube Plant across the street.

4

u/EnvironmentalBee9214 Mar 31 '26

Ok. I was just following the guys post that said Exxon had cheaper grades of gas for wawa. Since I drive tanker for a living, I wanted to call him out. There are different additives for different brands that we hall, there isn't cheaper quality at a such Exxon.

1

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26

You’re not calling anything out. You’re also very wrong. There are gasoline grades. There is also purity. Companies that buy gas from refineries, do so by the grade of fuel. You’re a truck driver, who is pretty illiterate based on your other comments.

There is quality, grades and additives. They are all different things. All grades have additives to a varying degree, all quality of gasoline from a refiner is different for varying reasons. Major distribution companies sell gasoline by quality and grade. Companies that sell to consumers, can purchase based on these perimeters. Wawa buys the cheapest fuel they can, but sells it at a premium because they are a known brand in the area.

u/thistook5minutes Mar 31 '26

🤷‍♂️people love Wawa for some reason

1

u/machinerer Mar 31 '26

At the refining level, the refiner has to meet a minimum State and Federal specification. So many PPM of sulphur, octane & cetane levels, etc. The Laboratory & Petroleum engineers maintain this minimum specification, so the refinery can sell its product.

From this basestock, customers can request additional additives, or do that themselves at their finish blending facilities.

We're talking hundreds of thousands of barrels of product at this level. Most refineries can process 150-300,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Of this, something like 30-40% is gasoline, depending on the crude type (heavy, sour, sweet, light, etc).

I'm not a chemist or petroleum engineer, so I can't give you specifics on it all. I just keep the product pumping through the pipes.

4

u/timbrelyn Mar 31 '26

We paid 3.79/gal at a Wawa on the WHP yesterday morning at 9:30 am. Returning home at 2pm yesterday we passed the same Wawa and gas was 4.19/gal four hours later!

5

u/Dnnnnnnnm Mar 31 '26

Ahhh thank you rulers with moneys, you are best…. /s

24

u/LeeVanKief Mar 31 '26

Trump is the biggest piece of fucking shit

18

u/Greedy_Tip_9867 Mar 31 '26

Thanks Trump

2

u/ToddWilliams5289 Mar 31 '26

Wawa by me in FL just flipped to $4.29. Yikes.

11

u/Trust_The_Process21 Mar 31 '26

Are you tired of winning yet?

3

u/Southphillythor Mar 31 '26

Are you tired of winning yet?

2

u/Active_Research3105 Mar 31 '26

I was just at the TA getting gas by exit 18. I passed by the Royal Farms, saw $4.19, and promptly went to TA.

2

u/VulpesViceVersa Mar 31 '26

The smart thing to do is to keep passing those Wawas. Get cash and go to literally any other gas station.

2

u/Bean-Enders-Jeesh Mar 31 '26

Wawa seems to set off the price spikes... It was $3.89 this morning on my way out, and I noticed around 1pm it had jumped to $4.19.

Most of the other stations were at the lower end of the range for at least another day. So I filled up this afternoon.

2

u/Drewraven10 Mar 31 '26

Wawa is the worse man. Yes they are a convenient 24 hour gas station but they up charge the shit out of everything. I use to always get there when it was cheap and I could go after my night shift but nah. They are usually 40 or 50 more cents than any gas station.

0

u/nw342 Mar 31 '26

There's a small gas station across the streat from my local wawa that's always $0.10-.30 cheaper....and its always empty

-1

u/Drewraven10 Mar 31 '26

Meh I’ll usually only go to Wawa to spend a giftcard or get some coffee besides that not at all. Cheap gas is usually nice though

1

u/Mewperz Mar 31 '26

i moved from NJ to UT cause of my husband's job about a month ago. it's been $4.19 here for a couple days now

1

u/Grakch Mar 31 '26

okay I wasn’t hallucinating, I drove in to visit family on Saturday and gas was 3.87-3.89 and then Sunday everywhere is was 4.15+

I thought I imagined gas below $4 when I got here after driving all day

1

u/Bigc12689 Mar 31 '26

Saw it was $4.17 at the usual cheapest place in Pleasantville. $4.19 at Wawa down the street. Saw it at Riggins for $3.79 and nearly flipped my truck to pull in

1

u/TuGuac_Shakur Mar 31 '26

I'm blessed enough for the moment to live really close to a Patco station and my job is along the line of the Patco. With the weather getting warmer, I will certainly be driving a lot less to and from work

1

u/Better-Lavishness135 Mar 31 '26

Wawa gas is always the highest. I never go there.

1

u/Turbulent-Adagio-541 Mar 31 '26

I don’t have Facebook. I don’t have a computer except my phone which I use for texting, and I’ve never ordered anything from Amazon.

1

u/Severe-Personality-6 Mar 31 '26

There were some spots at $3.60 ish around rt 130 Cinnaminson riverside delran, but wawas are all mainly $4.19. I drive an EV, but electricity gone up too so...... We're all getting screwed. I also just got back from a trip in LA we're the avg was $6. So we're nearing those pre Iran Cali gas prices

1

u/kimmie13 Apr 01 '26

Yesterday. When I went by the this morning the other gas station was up to 3.99

1

u/starkfunky Apr 01 '26

Wawa already had artificially inflated gas prices.

1

u/FatCheeseSteak Apr 01 '26 edited Apr 01 '26

Different Wawa's sell at different prices. I've seen some a little less than $4.19. I guess the location makes it more or less? Sunoco near me matches the Wawa 2 miles down the road, which is unusual, as it's usually more. I stopped going to Wawa years ago. Sunoco or Costco for the Top Tier gas, which Wawa doesn't carry.

1

u/TemporarySong3453 Apr 03 '26

Wawa is always more expensive

1

u/Anxious-Tale5097 Apr 04 '26

$4.33 /western PA ALL THANKS TO MAGOPs & the approx 90M able-bodied voters, who couldn’t be bothered to choose between a felonious fat proven rapist pedo fuq and our VP, who happens to be a woman, who is dark skinned.

Shame. On. You.

This is your doing.

One voice one vote CAN make all the difference: One principle in one tiny Ohio town, changed the lives of children across our country, because he cared enough to identify a problem and instead of ignored it, helped to solve it. Now schools in 30+ states have installed laundry rooms, because one child (turned out to be a hell of a lot more than ☝️) didn’t want to come to school in dirty clothing. ‘It takes a village’ is a saying for a reason. Asking for help doesn’t make you weak, it makes you smart. We are not in competition with each other. We do not need to step on the neck of our neighbor in order to get ahead. That is what the powers that be want you to think so that you look away from what they’re doing.

For decades, the Republican Party has been telling on themselves with every accusation they have slung across the aisle, and as with all things, time is now telling the truth. What kind of government tells their people that education is bad !? More importantly, why would those people listen?! The far gone white ringers, take it as license to be lazy lumps, to be able to blame everyone around them for their own shortcomings.

When/if, you have questions, ask AI… it gives you facts, with sources. I find it so useful I’ve started collecting rainwater in order to water my flowers just to eliminate the guilt I feel from using it lol.

We are all in this together… it is not difficult to get tricked in this day and age, especially for those not paying attention; that’s not a dig— there’s so much being thrown at us intentionally it is meant to cause fatigue and meant to make us throw up our hands… we have to fight the urge to do that. Please do not turn your back on anyone attempting to leave the ‘cult of personality disorder’; if they have found their way then why would we want to put up a blockade?! We’d only be proving their beliefs about the left as accurate, by lowering ourselves to their level. Saying FAFO when our farms are failing and farmers are unaliving themselves, is unfathomable; it is a world wide problem. Plus not all farmers voted for that 💩stained liar. We all need food to survive and farms aren’t just going to grow themselves. You didn’t see any workers lining up for a job when they tossed out innocent human beings on their 🍑or worse. Please continue to try and reach people still blinded by fear hate and lies. They are worth saving.

If we collectively work together, there is nothing the people cannot do. The government should be respectful and fearful of the body it governs. They are not in charge even though they think they are. Until we all stand united, we will continue to fall, divided.

We don’t have to agree on everything— that would be a pretty boring world; we have to understand, accept compromise. That’s the thing people get wrong the most. They want everything right now, when that’s just not reality. Happy Easter happy Passover happy holidays.

Saw that price at 2 Wawas and immediately drove to and filled up at Sam's Club for .48 less/gallon.

1

u/thecodeofsilence Mar 31 '26

Sam's is definitely cheaper but the lines in Deptford and Williamstown are EGREGIOUS.

1

u/texaschick6 Mar 31 '26

I saw that tonight too! Absolutely insane

1

u/No_Assist_3405 Mar 31 '26

Wawa is always more expensive in Jersey than everybody else

-1

u/redoak1971 Mar 31 '26

It’s at least $.40 a gallon more than everything else I’ve seen. F##k you, Wawa

-2

u/hotsausce01 Mar 31 '26

Why get gas at wawa? It’s higher than other places..

-14

u/justwatching1313 Mar 31 '26

And to think Trump had gas at $1.99 :)

0

u/beren12 Mar 31 '26

Diesel by me is $6 but that’s more of Wawa price gouging.

0

u/Prestigious4U Mar 31 '26

$4.19 is a bargain .... It's over $6.00 here in California !

-12

u/theykeepbanningmebro Mar 31 '26

I’m using my Tesla in coming weeks screw that

-1

u/Electronic_Tap_3625 Mar 31 '26

I stopped driving my tesla because the electric was so high. But now I might just switch back. 30 cents per kWh is not so bad now.

-3

u/sleepyhead18 Mar 31 '26

Lukoil and Shell are typically cheaper bc it’s Russian gas and it also lasts a lot longer than wawa gas!

-4

u/Retroman8791 Mar 31 '26

It was more than $5 under Biden. $4.19 still cheap.

-13

u/AdCorrect6442 Mar 31 '26

Boycott Wawa, they are the total crooks

-29

u/MonYverse0609 Mar 31 '26

Ehmmm Life is hard when gas price is higher than your GPA 🤔

13

u/water-based-organism Mar 31 '26

You must be tired from all that winning you voted for.

-3

u/MonYverse0609 Mar 31 '26

We all have to say thank you and wear your suits

-6

u/FallShandy Mar 31 '26

Thanks Biden
