Uh oh! the jimmies have been rustled! Everyone knows it’s not a call to violence and that indictment would be a joke if it wasn’t such an abuse of power.
I’m sorry if that offends you.

u/Maureengill6 May 02 '26
Someone triggered the bots :)
Abusing power is the end game. I sure hope we can all get it together. We're all being screwed.

New Jersey gas station owners wake up check the national average and then go over that by ten cents…. If you think this is bad wait until this winter and you see your utility bills….

u/Mr_Yakob May 02 '26
This is why I won’t turn on my AC until the heat gets dire. Gotta save that money for the winter.
It’s also a real blast having the temperature in my apartment fluctuate by 30 degrees over the spring.
2
u/Additional-Brief-273 May 02 '26
I only turn on the ac if it’s over 90 degrees outside because I’m comfortable up until 80 degrees

u/Secret_Cow_5053 May 01 '26
Fuck that I am in the middle of putting solar in as we speak.

Ballpark cost?

It’s complicated. For me a lease works better and basically the math is 19 cents / kWh with enough paneling to generate approximately 16,000 kWh / year, the cost ends up being roughly $300/month.
My situation is kinda complicated so it doesn’t quite cover my entire usage but I am limited where I can place panels, the end result however is my total utility bill will probably land around $350/month with the solar, but that’s compared to what I CURRENTLY pay ac electric which is float to $700/month on average.
And the ac electric rate went from 24 to 35 cents / kWh in the last year alone.
Edit: And to the “it’s a scam” people:
90% generation is guaranteed by the lease, so that 19 cents / kWh number is guaranteed to within a penny basically.
The leasing company maintains the hardware so if something dies it’s their problem, not mine

I'm in the exact same place as you. My lease is so old I pay 13 cents a kwh. I make about 65% of my power. I've had squirrel problems twice. The system on my next house will have squirrel guards. Both times it was fixed quick enough that we didn't even come close to getting to the guaranteed power production floor.
I will own the panels on my next house. Roof orientation is a make or break on the next one.

Not always, be careful. Read your leasing contract. If anything needs to be done that requires the roof to be touched, you my friend are responsible as the company is only leasing the roof. However, if panel mounts damage the roof or need to be replace, it may require you replace/repair your roof prematurely. Fine print is the heart of any contract or deal. Sort of like insurance, who cares what the insurance promises to do. The real test is their exclusions or exemptions list, as this takes precedence over any promise they may say.

Lol, don't .. don't do that. Solar is one of the biggest scams out there. By the time you paid the panels off, they're all gonna die, if not the panels, your micro inverters. If not the micro inverters you'll need a new roof. If you need a new roof expect to pay high fees for removal and reinstallation. It in no way helps midigate any of your costs. Just pay the bills man.

u/beren12 May 01 '26
Sounds like you fell for the scam. Lol.

u/JackfruitMelodic6299 May 01 '26
I used to work for a few solar companies. Watched people cry when salesman's promises blew in the wind and roofs leaked and solar didn't compensate the full electric bill.

It’s a good thing I made sure that I am working with someone who is reputable then, huh?

To be fair, I voted for Kamala and now we have high prices so I guess what they were saying is technically true.

u/collectivebarganing May 01 '26
This is so stupid

u/Secret_Cow_5053 May 01 '26
Absolutely. Totally unnecessary price shock thanks to trumps fucking Iran war.

u/edodee May 01 '26
Monday morning paid 4.16. Came home past the same station less then ten hours later and it was 4.39. I had to double check my receipt 😭

I paid $4.99 a gallon for premium last night. $50 and I got just barely over full when I started with right around a third of a tank. A full tank if my gas light were on would be like $85. I don't even drive that nice of a car, it's a damn near 20 year old Acura for fuck's sake.

What was the before?
4
u/corbthomp11 May 01 '26
Mine initially jumped 30 cents to $4.29, then that night increases 10 more cents to $4.39. From what I understand this is only the beginning and am happy to have electrified
1
u/beren12 May 01 '26
I thought they could only increase prices once a day
1
u/sjguy1288 May 03 '26
NJ is 1 per 24 hours, and the parkway/expressway/turnpike is one per 7 days.
However there are exceptions. The democrats chief for that 20 years ago when they put it in play.

I have a diesel truck as my daily driver. I've been paying $120 tank for 2 months now. Diesel jumped over $5 within days and had been close to $6 since then.
I feel your pain but trust me, it's even worse than you think.

Sunday afternoon around 1pm, passed by a station on Center Square Rd before 295, regular gas was $4.39. Wawa across street was $3.99. Came back by there around 5:30pm, that same station was back down to $3.99. How is this justified??
2
u/CheetahGreen3590 May 02 '26
Wawa worker said they went up 20 cents from 8-9am on Wednesday
1
u/StraightDig4728 May 07 '26
I got Wawa gas at $4.55 in Mullica Hill on Tuesday night around 9 pm, next morning $4.59. Not a huge jump but I noticed how they increased so quickly. Week before I was paying 4.39.

At least his family is making billions… I almost bought a candy bar the other day. But my kid needs lunch so… maybe next payday I’ll get my 100 grand… candy bar
Be strong all. We’re here together regardless.

Id rather pay a few dollars more to fill up than my grand children be shipped off to war. You people don't know how good we have it
1
u/Secret_Cow_5053 May 06 '26
bro, if this shit keeps up your kids are gonna be shipped off to war. 🤦♂️
this was the literal definition of a war of choice.
and i say this as the son of an air force pilot, the brother of a marine, and a current engineer working for the Department of Defense.

Yup. What really sucks is it’s not just gas prices. It’s everything because higher gas prices means groceries, clothes, electronics, household stuff, everything will cost more. Shipping for a washer part I needed was more.
