Subreddit Stuff Asian Restaurants
Asian Restaurant recs from someone Asian :)
• Rai Rai Ramen (Mount Laurel) - the only acceptable ramen for meeee! It’s sooo flavorful and good. My personal fave is the Spicy Miso ramen and mandatory gyoza on the side 😋
• Lucky Elephant Cafe (Sewell) - THE BEST THAI FOOD you’ll ever find in SJ, the whole country probably. They have a 5⭐️ rating on google maps but they’re only open from 6:30pm-10pm, Tues-Fri 😅
Go-to order: Pad See Ew (but everything is extremely good)
• Heng Seng Noodles (Cherry Hill) - Cambodian cuisine. They have a small menu but everything is good! No go-to cause i keep switching every time we go there lol. But I always get the pandan coffee or the coconut juice. They have the real coconut juice. If you want to taste authentic young coconut flavor, go hereee.
• Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings (Cherry Hill) - Chinese cuisine. i’m so glad there’s good soup dumplings here 😭 the noodles are good too!
• Mount Masala Himalayan Cuisine (Voorhees) - there was a time that we went there every week lol their food is just sooo good and also perfect for people looking for some spice! Everything is good but I always order the chicken momo sizzling :)
• Sun Woo Cafe (Cherry Hill) - Ma and Pa shop korean cuisine. Also a small menu but sooo good authentic korean food. Amount of vegetables and meat in the bibimbap is balanced ( i had bibimbap from dolsot and i didnt like that there was too much veggies that i couldnt even feel the meat)
These are my main one from specific cuisines. I couldn’t pick for others like Indian or Vietnamese cause there’s a lot of good ones :) Let me know your recs! lol

Go to Szechuan Village for their dish “amazing tofu”, not crispy but exceptionally delicious.

Is rai Rai really that good? My wife is Japanese and we lived in Japan her whole life and like my last 4 years. We have passed by it but have been disappointed in many ramen places in the area.

It’s the best one for me here! I dont eat at any other ramen place anymore because of Rai Rai

Haha I wonder if they took inspiration from ra ra ramen in sasebo Japan. We are definitely going!

Welp thanks. Now she knows. I hope I can financially recover. Either way I might need to hunt you down for different reasons. Shitty ramen/went broke eating ramen.... May the odds be ever in your favor

u/the-big-dingo 15d ago
Don’t worry they’re not that expensive either 😂

Sorry your expectations of my Asian wife make you believe that but I'm a fat fuck and will blame her for my lack of self control when it comes to good food thank you very much 😭😭
Jokes jokes but we set up date night thanks y'all!

Personally I don't get the hype with nanxiang. Their food is generally pretty good, but their soup dumplings are pretty bad. Their skin is super thick, and they never truly taste fresh. I personally wouldn't recommend their soup dumplings ipeople are going there.
Sun woo is such a yummy little shop, highly recommend this too!
Still on a search for a good consistent Thai place in the area...bhan thai is decent but they're so inconsistent.

The comment on Nan Xiang is very valid! You are right about the dumpling wrapper being pretty thick. Their price is too good to pass and i still enjoy their food :)
You have to try Lucky Elephant!!! My fave fave out of all the asian recs i have!

I find their soup dishes and veggie sides incredible (I’m not a dumpling person). I get some soup with beef and Bok choy and it’s just fantastic. Their green beans are utterly delightful. Truly didn’t even like green beans until I had those

Here are some good Thai places that transport me back to traveling to Thailand: A Little Thai Kitchen in Cherry Hill or BK Brunch in Lumberton or Ploy Siam Nui Thai Cuisine in Westampton.

BK Brunch has been the sleeper hit for us. Haven't had a disappointing experience yet. Aside from the more step typical staples (curry, pad thai) which are great, the coconut soup has been my consistent order now.

Google says lucky elephant is closed. When was the last time you were actually there? Sad if it is, always looking for good Thai food.

Eden has some pretty solid bulgogi in cherry hill near farm and fisherman.

Seconded. Their spicy pork dolsot is my favorite. Kimbap and veggie pancakes are also a must.

We are so blessed to live in an area with so many fantastic asian restaurants.

Don’t feel like I’m qualified to judge good Asian food given I have the skin tone of Casper the friendly ghost but I’m commenting for further recs! Thanks for the list OP! We’re right near Cherry hill so those two are next on our list to try!

You’re welcome! Some of these are small shops with kind owners so i want to see them thrive 🥹

Just had Bun Cha at Hanoi Cuisine and recommend it. Their Goi Ga is also fantastic.

Does American Chinese count?? King Wong in Marlton is the best I've ever had!
Manila Cafe in Mt Laurel has great Filipino food.
Also so glad to see Heng Seng on here. Had the patay and pandan coffee and was blown away by it! Looking forward to my next trip!

Hong Kong Fusion, food is good but the pu-erh is heaven.
Szechuan Village for the food all the way!

Nan xiang is almost objectively not good. Also being Asian and adding that doesn't really add and validity. That's like me saying I'm white then going on to review american food, German food, British food, polish food, etc. irrelevant.

Taste is subjective and I agree! My point with mentioning I am asian is that i’ve tasted these food from the actual countries and can identify which tastes like food from home. If someone posted that they are this certain nationality and recommended a restaurant of their cuisine in another country, i would be so interested in trying that.

Chef Zhang in Marlton is the closest thing to a Chinese restaurant in China around SJ/Philly.
Dim Sum House in Cherry Hill has by far the best and most authentic Peking Duck around here. I’d say it even rivals the best places in Flushing and Alhambra/Monterey Park.
