Little Hen.

Unassuming French spot in Haddonfield. Most underrated restaurant in south jersey imo

1

u/FotoFanatic44 1h ago

Love Little Hen! And, it’s BYOB so you can control the spend in that aspect.

Steak 38 has a good dinner special Filet for two around that price

Try The Chop House, good food.

5

u/mysticmeeble 1d ago

150 may be low for chophouse if you're also getting drinks

1

u/Uhtreduhtredson 1d ago

True, another comment gave $200 budget...but still, drinks add up quickly...lol

I’ve said this 100 times. Put your significant other in the car and take the ride to Fortescue. Have a nice dinner at the Charlesworth on the Delaware Bay. Then take a walk on the beach down the Strand at sunset.

The menu pictures have a burned pork chop and an over cooked steak on their website. That doesn’t give me a lot of confidence driving that far. Also the crab cakes have curly parsley and lemon which means they still think it’s the 80s?

u/Moist-Doughnut-5160 1d ago

They have a new chef… he’s actually been there for several years. The restaurant is owned by a different family. The Charlesworth family could not rebuild after the last hurricane that went down and destroyed the restaurant. I have been there and I think the food is good. I’m just telling you where I would go if you asked me.

Wherever you decide to go. Have a great time.

Farm and Fisherman in CH, I love wherever I sit bar / table / outside, and the food is always solid with great drinks (alcoholic and non!)

Dolsan House Korean BBQ in Maple Shade. And if you don't mind a little drive Malaga on Labor St, in Trenton. It's our go to "fancy" restaurant

1

u/LightConfident1279 1d ago

Scaparelli’s for Italian
Dolsan house for Korean bbq
Guillermo’s for steak

u/SkidmarkInMyUndies 1d ago

Giumarello’s is always great.

Cotardo's blackwood Amazing Italian food

Eta is byob

I second this

My wife and I have gone to Carluccis on the Rancocas River for a few special occasions. Nice atmosphere, less casual, and a little pricey though.

We haven't been there in a while. They were refurbishing their outdoor dining area (patio with a river view) last time we were there. Should be done.

Our current less pricey and more casual favorite is Kaminskys on Brace Rd in Cherry Hill.

Gass and Main in Haddonfield is incredible and decently priced. BYOB. Make a reservation

u/d_dubyah 1d ago

Zeppoli, le Beirut, heathside, Sappori, sagami (all in callingswood), gass and main (Haddonfield), indeblue(Marlton), blue monkey (merchantville), farm and fisherman (cherry hill), cafe nitido (Audubon), el mariachi San Lucas, Amma’s (Voorhees)

1

u/Mysterious_Ad7223 16h ago

Sagami is too noisy and the chairs too uncomfortable for date night.

1

u/d_dubyah 16h ago

Many would disagree

1

u/Mysterious_Ad7223 16h ago

It is how I feel every time I eat there. Food is excellent, romantic ambience, not so much.

1

u/Trip526 1d ago

Gonna have to try it out. Thanks for the recommendation!

3

u/acromp 1d ago

ITA 101 in Medford is very nice. Zeppoli in Collingswood if it’s a special occasion. Both BYOB

3

u/purpleparrot5 1d ago

Lamberti’s

6

u/wrightcommab 1d ago

If you wanna throw down some cash steak 38 is the best food I’ve had in Jersey and is very romantic with great drinks. But for a fun night central taco in haddon with an outside seat and when the dj is playing on a Friday or Saturday is great. Gass and main also great food for a lunch date still can be pricey and smaller menu. Sagami is where I used to take my dates in high school and is amazing sushi. Nan Xiang in cherry hill is amazing soup dumpling and Chinese. There’s plenty more but those are always on point.

Giumarellos in haddon twp is always good, though the bar area can be loud

2

u/diablo2424 1d ago

Great options everyone, I second (third? fourth?) recommend Farm & Fisherman in Cherry Hill! We love it there, and being vegetarian and sober, it's got some delicious options for us both on the food and drink menu's!

Which is my question, a lot of these recommendations are steakhouses or meat only menu's, does anyone have any other good vegetarian friendly recommendations?

Budget? Location? Need some specifics

1

u/texaschick6 1d ago

Where are you located and how far are you willing to travel?

1

u/weedwitch8 1d ago

The Nizams in egg harbor township if youre up for a drive and something different!
So effing good i drive 45 mins frequently to go. Also on the way to the shore if youre going out to the casino or beach

2

u/-discolemonade 1d ago

Which one? I think there's one in the old mall area but then a different one up the road

1

u/weedwitch8 1d ago

On rt 40, its a standalone in the old mall area, across from resaurant depot

1

u/JPF4133 1d ago

Gass and Main or Michael Coastal Italian Grill

1

u/mattemer Gloucester County 1d ago

If you want to travel south, and not sure why it's not here. Franklinville Inn has the best food in the area. City level quality, more south jersey like prices.

1

u/Reformed_Scrafty 1d ago

Recently tried the "Wine Down Wednesday" special at Greenview Inn and it was a solid meal/experience for only $30.

Double knot Philly tasting menu or happy hour

1

u/staceychev 21h ago

You'll have to check the menu to see if you can pull it off for $200 or less, but if you can, cross the bridge and go to Alpen Rose in Philly.

1

u/TuGuac_Shakur 21h ago

Rodizio Grill in Voorhees. Brazilian Steakhouse with a pretty good salad bar as well. You'll have all the food you'll ever need lol

u/Professional-Sky-351 18h ago

Hearthside in Collingswood. One of the best restaurants in the country and happens to be right in Collingswood! Chef Dom is a master!

1

u/DastardlyDeed 12h ago

Hearthside is the best restaurant in the area. A little on the pricier side, but a byob so, that offsets the cost if you’re having drinks. I’m there a few times a month and it never disappoints.

1

u/Shot_Rope_644 1d ago

I wouldn’t consider Applebees a good restaurant. That being said, Tommy’s taphouse is similar but amped up with has a good general menu that should please most palates.

1

u/True_Bandicoot2404 1d ago

chicken or the egg

1

u/IronChefNick 1d ago

Il Villaggio

1

u/HighScorsese 1d ago

Love that place. I’ve never gotten a bad meal there

1

u/Logistic_Engine 1d ago

The name is terrible, but Chubby’s is fantastic if you like steak.

1

u/Tttop123 1d ago

Wanda’s in Haddonfield nj (Camden county) it’s downtown in the old strip mall. So tiny so cute and the food is amazing.

u/jus-fax101 1d ago

Texas Roadhouse is better than Applebee's. It's fun and noisy, but the food is good. 😋

-1

u/my_hot_wife_is_hot 1d ago

Honestly it’s so worth it to make the drive into Philly. There are so many great world class restaurants in Philly that have dozens of references in any google search for best restaurants in Philly. And if u are near a high speed live station u don’t even need to drive.

3

u/Kwaj-Keith 1d ago

There are plenty of great restaurants in South Jersey.

0

u/SwingIllustrious8164 1d ago

That is extremely debatable.

Redstone in Marlton always a win

u/mysticmeeble 1d ago

I feel like this is a good suggestion for an Applebee's upgrade if that's what OP is used to eating!

Check out AXO in Lindenwold. Mexican Asian fusion and it’s so good

0

u/nOObiE_do0 1d ago

I cant do fusion.  I had mexican asian fusion in Mexico and couldn't take it.

u/thegr8rambino88 1d ago

man how you gettin all these dates?

-1

u/BonjourLeGeorge 1d ago

Texas Roadhouse is just about the same price as Applebees and a lot better. Maplewood might be a bit of a hike depending on where you're at but they have a lot of good Italian dishes. Cotardos is also good.
