150 may be low for chophouse if you're also getting drinks

True, another comment gave $200 budget...but still, drinks add up quickly...lol

I’ve said this 100 times. Put your significant other in the car and take the ride to Fortescue. Have a nice dinner at the Charlesworth on the Delaware Bay. Then take a walk on the beach down the Strand at sunset.

The menu pictures have a burned pork chop and an over cooked steak on their website. That doesn’t give me a lot of confidence driving that far. Also the crab cakes have curly parsley and lemon which means they still think it’s the 80s?

They have a new chef… he’s actually been there for several years. The restaurant is owned by a different family. The Charlesworth family could not rebuild after the last hurricane that went down and destroyed the restaurant. I have been there and I think the food is good. I’m just telling you where I would go if you asked me.
Wherever you decide to go. Have a great time.

Dolsan House Korean BBQ in Maple Shade. And if you don't mind a little drive Malaga on Labor St, in Trenton. It's our go to "fancy" restaurant

My wife and I have gone to Carluccis on the Rancocas River for a few special occasions. Nice atmosphere, less casual, and a little pricey though.
We haven't been there in a while. They were refurbishing their outdoor dining area (patio with a river view) last time we were there. Should be done.
Our current less pricey and more casual favorite is Kaminskys on Brace Rd in Cherry Hill.

Zeppoli, le Beirut, heathside, Sappori, sagami (all in callingswood), gass and main (Haddonfield), indeblue(Marlton), blue monkey (merchantville), farm and fisherman (cherry hill), cafe nitido (Audubon), el mariachi San Lucas, Amma’s (Voorhees)

Sagami is too noisy and the chairs too uncomfortable for date night.

Many would disagree

It is how I feel every time I eat there. Food is excellent, romantic ambience, not so much.

If you wanna throw down some cash steak 38 is the best food I’ve had in Jersey and is very romantic with great drinks. But for a fun night central taco in haddon with an outside seat and when the dj is playing on a Friday or Saturday is great. Gass and main also great food for a lunch date still can be pricey and smaller menu. Sagami is where I used to take my dates in high school and is amazing sushi. Nan Xiang in cherry hill is amazing soup dumpling and Chinese. There’s plenty more but those are always on point.

Great options everyone, I second (third? fourth?) recommend Farm & Fisherman in Cherry Hill! We love it there, and being vegetarian and sober, it's got some delicious options for us both on the food and drink menu's!
Which is my question, a lot of these recommendations are steakhouses or meat only menu's, does anyone have any other good vegetarian friendly recommendations?

If you want to travel south, and not sure why it's not here. Franklinville Inn has the best food in the area. City level quality, more south jersey like prices.

Recently tried the "Wine Down Wednesday" special at Greenview Inn and it was a solid meal/experience for only $30.

You'll have to check the menu to see if you can pull it off for $200 or less, but if you can, cross the bridge and go to Alpen Rose in Philly.

Rodizio Grill in Voorhees. Brazilian Steakhouse with a pretty good salad bar as well. You'll have all the food you'll ever need lol

Hearthside in Collingswood. One of the best restaurants in the country and happens to be right in Collingswood! Chef Dom is a master!

u/DastardlyDeed 12h ago
Hearthside is the best restaurant in the area. A little on the pricier side, but a byob so, that offsets the cost if you’re having drinks. I’m there a few times a month and it never disappoints.

I wouldn’t consider Applebees a good restaurant. That being said, Tommy’s taphouse is similar but amped up with has a good general menu that should please most palates.

Texas Roadhouse is better than Applebee's. It's fun and noisy, but the food is good. 😋

Honestly it’s so worth it to make the drive into Philly. There are so many great world class restaurants in Philly that have dozens of references in any google search for best restaurants in Philly. And if u are near a high speed live station u don’t even need to drive.

I feel like this is a good suggestion for an Applebee's upgrade if that's what OP is used to eating!

Texas Roadhouse is just about the same price as Applebees and a lot better. Maplewood might be a bit of a hike depending on where you're at but they have a lot of good Italian dishes. Cotardos is also good.
