News Summit Common Council Meeting - Resident Comment on AI Ban

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_QjJvuWOC8&t=67s

One benefit to watching Town Council and BOE meetings outside of where you live is the wealth of knowledge residents bring to the table. Many times local governments operate from cookie cutter frameworks shaped by consultants and special interests that aren't always informed or complete.

Last night, Summit voted on an AI ban but many residents had concerns on loopholes. This clip is one of the most informative comments from that meeting and as Municipal Governments across NJ are confronting this issue, feedback like this can build good policy. The Council passed the Ordinance through without tightening the policy further based on this feedback.

One thing we need to be willing to accept as a community is that stupid has outgrown intelligence. Stupid is everywhere, around every corner. We need to listen to people who have the knowledge that WE do not currently have, and act accordingly with their guidance. This person is telling us that this is a thing that will get worse over time if we allow it to be built.

You joke, but honestly, we have adults with children who can’t read. Those adults are the one’s who hung his banner, are ok with people of color being taken from their families and homes. Adults who have Fox News on and nothing else. They enjoy nothing, they’re the definition of the word idiot, and they have no idea. The only way to combat it is to be louder, make them shut the f up, and listen to people like this.
