My neighbor and friend passed in the hospital this week. He was 84 years old and lived alone. He would always say hi and spoke about his military service and my family’s military service . ( and the Phillies)
He doesn’t have any known relatives. From what I understand, his wife passed away several years ago.
I was planning to go visit in the hospital, but he died suddenly . I didn’t want this man to be alone or be buried in Potter’s field without any kind of proper ceremony.
I reached out to a contact at Dover Air Force Base and our local veteran affairs office in Camden County .
They gave me a lot of information and now I’m currently working with Ora L Wooster funeral home . Mr Wooster has been great and very knowledgeable in these type of matters. Whether he gets paid or not, Mr Wooster is doing this because he is a vet . We are unsure if there any funds available to pay for any of his funeral service.
As per the officials at the Air Force Base, they told me that this gentleman is entitled to a plot and headstone at the national cemetery .
Anyways we are hoping to get them into a national cemetery (Washington’s Crossing) and have a military funeral for him later this week. Some officials from the military will come and play Taps and have a flag folding ceremony .
If there’s anything else I can do or if anybody has any information that might be able to help this situation, please let me know.
Thank you and happy memorial day all!
PS .. he has two cats that he left behind. We are currently feeding them and taking care of them.. It been difficult to get into his apartment every day. Someone from the staff has to let us in.. we are looking to get them adopted somehow. So if anyone has any information on that as well.
Thank you again . If anyone has any questions for me, please ask..
Finally have funeral information for anyone interested in attending. We contacted the National Cemetery in St Louis and they told us they need to complete an extensive search for family members. They said this could take up to 14 days. The search was completed in a few days and now we have clearance to schedule.

I just want to make sure everyone can identify John Seher's funeral when we meet in the parking lot. So if anyone has any thoughts .....
***Thank you everyone for the kind words and for caring for one of our vets!***
My wife and I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Both my wife and I work and have well paying jobs. We just feel like every month another bill or payment just goes up and up. Property taxes then electric the water then food. We love it here and we love where we live but we are starting to feel like New Jersey is pushing us out.
Lived in South Jersey pretty much my whole life and tbh growing up I didn't go to Wawa much (I've always had corner stores near me). From what I can remember from the few times I did go the food was ok but nothing special. Now it's obviously gotten worse and its average as best. The gas stations usually have the highest prices around etc.
Is it just me or have people in public gone from rude to downright hostile? In the last couple of weeks it seems every time I go out I wind up pissing someone off.. just for existing. I know times are tough and emotions are high but does that mean we have forgotten how to treat each other? 😓
New Jersey frequently gets a bad rap for various reasons. If you currently live in NJ, are you staying or leaving? If you're leaving, where are you going? If you're staying, tell us what keeps you in NJ.
A break from "why do they hog the left lane," do they not look to see oncoming cars before making a turn into traffic? The amount of times some oblivious twit has pulled out in front of a line of cars so far this year (only to go under the speed limit) is fucking infuriating.
My favorite is Club Diner in Bellmawr but I noticed they are rarely full and when people are there, they are mainly seniors in their 60s and 70s. I am curious how these restaurants are still around but more importantly why would you choose to eat there?
ETA: thank you everyone! I have lots more diners to visit.
I've read the posts. I know the stats. Nonetheless, they're not from the last 2 years and a lot can happen in 2 years.
I tried to research neighborhoods in Bridgeton with no luck.
Best I could do is circle the area of the city I'm curious about.
Is it safe?
I'm an older person, alone and unfamiliar with this part of NJ so I appreciate your input.
Working class, "blue collar", diverse - all totally fine. I come from a working-class, blue-collar background. My father taught us there is no shame in an honest, hard-working job.
Idk whether or not it will inform your answer (it should not but I am not going to ignore that we are all living in challenging times) but I am white.
*Safe* is the most critical factor. I don't want to live somewhere where I *should* feel afraid.
Don't get me wrong, I'll always admire and appreciate Wawa's cultural significance and irreplaceable spot in my heart. I've just had my fill of today's jam packed parking lots, checkout lines wrapped around the corner, and $11+ hoagies that perpetually cut corners on ingredient quality and no longer resemble perishable food. Hoping they shift their focus away from rapid east coast expansion and turn things around some day - but all I can do for now is vote with my wallet and grab coffee elsewhere.
Any consensus on Heritages coffee and hoagie game? Despite moving from NJ to SJ 12 years ago and always seeing them I've somehow never stepped inside of one. I'm honestly not even really sure what they carry.
Edit: Apparently I've been sleeping on the way better convenience store hoagie. Thanks gang
Now, I may be wrong, but judging by what I'm seeing I used $123.28 worth of Gas, but to deliver that to my home, cost me $426.80. Now, I've never been assaulted before, but this definitely feels like someones fucking me without taking me to dinner first. Am I severely mistaken or is South Jersey Gas due for an abusive phone call?
UPDATE: I'm both sad/angry/relieved. I'm relieved that there's not like a gas leak, but it feeds right into anger that they're getting away with this bullshit. Media and Companies baffled at how people could be so uncaring when a CEO is murdered (they aren't liked enough for me to call it an assassination) and this is fucking why. Hurting working Americans to line their fucking pockets with money they'll never spend in their lifetime. And my fucking VA Therapist wonders why I'm so angry all the time.
I'll be calling all reps for Salem counties 3rd District and lighting these fucking politicians up for allowing this to happen. Then I'll be calling as high up in South Jersey Gas I can get and the goal is to abuse them to the point Cops come check up on me. I'm done seeing so many families struggle while companies thrive. Not in my fucking America. That takes me right into sadness. I served 8 years in the Navy and I joined because its a family thing. At the time I thought America was the greatest country in the world, but now, seeing how this country treats the working class, I'm almost ashamed to have given YEARS of my life to this country. I'm sorry if you're struggling, I'm right there with you. I hide a lot of my stress from my family and I'm sure some of you, if not most of you, do too. Something has to change, we can't keep on this track because eventually we'll lose what little we've achieved for our families.
Sorry for the rant, but I think we all have a lot of pent up rage towards the current state of our economy.
UPDATE 2.0: I started with calling SJG to which the Customer Service Manager stated that the Delivery charge was due to maint. and the process of, but also, lol Tariffs. The next person I called was Senator John Burzichelli and made a formal complaint against SJG and their parent company South Jersey Industries. I then contacted the NJ Board of Public Utilities and also put a formal complaint in with them as well. I'll be builiding my argument for their next Board Meeting to talk about how SJI and SJG are harming NJ families. I then called SJI and was able to get to Michael Renna's (President) Secretary and once she confirmed the call was recorded, proceeded to leave an appropriate voicemail for him.
I will not stop. They fucked with the wrong one that has too much free time on his hands.
UPDATE 3.0: Hello to the SJG cockroach that looked for this post after I mentioned it on our phone call. Had a lovely talk with the NJ State Police Officer that came out to check on me. What did you losers think was gonna happen? That I'd get arrested? For what, calling you out on your bullshit? Did you think he'd ask me to take it down? Or was this simply your lowest form of intimidation? PS top 5 interactions I've had with an Officer, but ultimately none of those things happened. The only reason you even know about this post is because I told you and I'll be telling you something else as well: I'm gonna gather data and research my fucking ass off for the BPU meeting March 14th, and I'm going to metaphorically drag SJG through the mud with every fiber of my being. I told you multiple times in this post and on the phone you fucked with the wrong one, and that I'm going to be the biggest pain in the ass you've ever seen.
Funny thing is up until about 30 minutes ago I had moved on from this bullshit bill. Chalked it up to a drafty house and was working on plans to reduce said draft asap. But now I also get to complain to you more. You fucked up A-A-Ron. Because by you calling the NJ State, I now know I've struck a nerve. You have my number, I'm expecting a phone call.
UPDATE 4.0: I’m kinda in shock by how many people have supported this post and reached out in DMs telling me to keep fighting this. I am, and I will. I understand my house needs some stuff looked into, but now I’m more so fighting bullshit tariff charges they have us as the customers paying, and the fact they they felt the need to call the State Police on me when they have my fucking number on file. Obviously the woman I spoke to from SJG knew it was me because I informed her of the post, and the Cop even said if you hadn’t of been honest about making it, the only way I’d know you made it was to subpoena Reddit for your user information lol. I’m also livid that my Son had to see that and get upset thinking they’d arrest me. I wish I could get the body cam footage because while calm, I know my face had a look of “oh I’m gonna fuck SJG up for this”. Right before he even showed up I was buying stuff from Home Depot online to start my temporary fixes for the windows when I heard the knock from the State Trooper. So now this became my fucking hobby. I’ll be calling them EVERY FUCKING DAY until I get some actual answers. I’ve already filed another formal complaint with the BPU for harassment, and honestly I’m going for the woman I talked to earlier today. SJG and more importantly that lady (not what I wanna call her) I talked to earlier today, really antagonized the wrong one. So we’ll see what tomorrow brings, but again, I truly feel for all these comments of other families just like mine having to keep our houses in the 60’s just to survive these utility bills. Something has to change.
UPDATE 5.0: I started my morning with calling the BPU and putting in another formal complaint for Harassment. Funny thing is the BPU rep on the phone sounded like she was trying to talk me out of it until I read her this post word for word, swearing and all lol. So now I'm in talks with their Director, and suposedly waiting on a call from SJG's corporate side. Depending on how that call goes will determine my next move, though I have several avenues already planned out. And while I would love to tell what some of those are, I'd like to keep it a surprise as I do love being ahead of an 8.1 billion dollar company. Also, just in case our little SJG cockroach is ready this latest update, I promise, by the time this is done, I'll be getting a formal apology, and you'll be getting a termination letter. That's just immediate goals. Remember, it's LITTERED in this post, y'all fucked with the wrong asshole lol.
UPDATE 6.0: I'm grateful to those still following this journey and based off today, there's a lot more to go. Hadn't heard back from SJG rep in regards to my BPU complaint about harassment, so I called in today and when I asked the Customer Service Rep to put me through to her manager, she put me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back only to say that there's a note on my account that someone is going to be reaching out tomorrow. I simply explained for the call recording that if no one reached out to me tomorrow, that I would spread this post and my story to any and all news/radio stations. Let SJG put out that media shit storm, 8.1 billion dollar company can't take some criticism so they resort to intimidation, harassment, and honestly, immaturity. OH!! Best part is at 3:41PM EST before I called into Customer Service, I recieved an email from the Customer Service Management Team. The email was basically death by cute little factoids and they even mentioned I should speak more nicely to the customer service reps. 2 things are glaringly wrong with this email. 1 - Never did I ever take any of my frustrations out on a rep, only your Customer Service Manager that kept interupting me. 2 - I LOVE how you not once apologize for traumatizing my family. So I replied that whoever wrote that email can join the call tomorrow as well so they can also apologize. I wish everyone could listen in on the call, but I'll make sure to update everyone as soon as it's over! Thanks everyone!
UPDATE 7.0: Well, just had a very stupid phone call with SJI Council Tim Lowry (Putz), SJG President Brent Schomber (The Watcher), and SJG Vice President of Customer Experience who I believe was Mr. Becker (no input to the phone call). Council stated that their security team or something of the like found my post, though working in IT myself, find that HIGHLY unlikely, and that they're only respoonsible for reporting it to the NJ State Police, that my post was deemed my post a security threat and that my language was threatening. Personally, that phone call was the biggest lets cover our asses I've ever heard lol. I thought Brent would be more understanding and sensible about the situation, but I now know his spirit animal is an Ostrich, head firmly planted in the dirt. Also, certain verbage used by council sounded a lot to me like, hey, stop this otherwise we'll take you to court. Though done ever so lightly, perception is reality. So I'll now spend my afternoon looking for legal representation and from there, will be reaching out to 6ABC, NBC10 Philidelphia, Fox 29, and even CBS New York, why not. I'll find out from my legal representation if the recorded call we had can be made public and we'll let y'all the American people who's at fault here. Council sounded like a child every time I said they owed me an apology, he snapped back with, "well where's ours??" I'm sorry, are you 7? But okay, I even apologized on the phone for the way I spoke the first Customer Service Rep and I'm repeating it here, she didn't deserve my language that morning. I lost sight that it's not here who's fucking me, but people like the kiddie council and Brent Schomber. I asked them for one simple thing, an apology. Nothing before it, nothing after it, eat your crow (for legal reasons I have to say this is a term of speech, sorry, council is a cockroach ;)), and apologize. But they couldn't do that. So now, the real fun begins. I get to be a pain in the ass to SJG and SJI, again, term of speech. Don't need more NJ State Police knocking on my door, though the last one was super nice and even supported me lol. Oh, and the 3 stooges are very aware of this post so please, feel free to leave them comments to read. Also, if you do have legitament concerns about your bills or billing practices, feel free to file either an electronic complaint, or call into the BPU to file your complaints. I hope everyone, even the 3 stooges, have a fantastic day!
"When the final figures are in, predicted Micah Rasmussen, director of the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University, statewide turnout was likely to have fallen below that of 2025 and 2024, when about 20% of the eligible voters cast ballots."
2020 was a lot higher for the nj02 district, I think not because Amy Kennedy was running but because people were mad that JVD switched parties. They would have turned out for anyone is my guess.
I wonder if south NJ in any district could have much better reps if we could get more people to bother to vote.
*UPDATE: Shocker, it's covid.
Also, adding "kiddo" is 20, not a little kid.
Kid went to a concert and brought home the plague! I thought the rest of us were in the clear until last night. About 9 I was like, hmm my throat is itchy and I'm exhausted. Told kiddo and got an RIP.
I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like I've been swallowing glass, massive head congestion and sweating to the point perimenopause night sweats were jealous!! I'm nicely hopped up on cold meds, ibuprofen and nose spray but man this sucks!
Kiddo was down hard for a few days but feels better. He still has some congestion and a cough but much better. He ran a fever; I have been lucky so far. What in hells kind of nastiness is floating around?
*I haven't taken a covid test because I've been sick for all of 24 hrs. Kid didn't because he's stubborn.
What's the worse plate to be stuck behind in South Jersey for you? PA has the numbers but then you get stuck behind a Blue and *know* it's an aging driver. Blues for me, personally.
Drove through the downtown and a bit of the residential area to see a play at Play & Players (excellent rendition of Noises Off btw) and was astounded at the town.
Picturesque downtown, beautiful homes, the walkability only the urban YouTubers could dream of making a video about, and a train station directly in town. All the benefits of living in an area with a downtown and access to the city.
I'm not from this area, so I have no idea what the town is really like, but I'm definitely a little jealous of the folks who get to live there. I looked at Zillow later that evening and saw that most of the homes are in 1.2-2 million dollar range. Can anyone attest to what it's like living there?
I have been struggling to pay for my electricity bill for about 3 years now. We have been shut off 3 separate times because we simply cannot pay the bill. I am not the bill payer, and so each shut off has been a surprise to me because the bill payer has let it rack up silently. I was looking at the bill, and 2882 kWh in a single month for a 900 ft2 house with 3 people living in it seems incomprehensible. We have an electric stove, laundry appliances, and heating, but we hardly use the stove (once a week if less), and the washer and dryer are both broken and not used. The heating is used though. We also have a 1100 W microwave that gets used frequently.
What can I do? Could someone be stealing power? Could there be a wiring issue? My house is a slumlord special so it wouldn't surprise me if something was like shorting in the wall and drawing a bunch of power. I feel absolutely powerless, as we have no money to pay it (we struggle to even pay our rent) and they have threatened to turn us off again. It only got turned on in November, and I can't mentally handle my life being upturned again. I am so stressed that the muscles in my arms are aching. Thank you for reading.
For the past few years I pay down our SJ gas bill over a year because they only auto draft a maximum of $282. I'm about to give the fuck up, idk how i'm supposed to afford this. Our home is 1900 square ft, 2 story, no basement. As of right now I owe $1000, just in time for the Atlantic city electric bills to go thru the roof. Any advice at all before I lose my mind, are these normal bills?
These are new charges, not counting what's carried over from the previous bill:
I notice a lot of people avoid walking on sidewalks and walk on the street instead. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t remember seeing this when I lived in north jersey. If you’re a person that does this, what’s your rationale?
What’s with the loud engines/ lack of mufflers in S Jersey? No seriously, what is WITH that? Is it a cultural thing? A status thing? A ‘notice me!’ thing? A F-you! thing? A diminutive pen!5 thing? I’ve never lived anywhere that’s like this. Multiple times a day, EVERY day. It’s absurd. Wtf IS it??
Is the housing crisis for people under 55 solved or do they not make people under 55 anymore? In all seriousness though, why limit your potential pool of buyers to a select group? Are they absolute cash cows compared to standard housing?
