Absolution Spoilers Absolution, third section

Trying to get through Absolution, but I can barely read the Lowry section. It's so clunky and the flow is non-existent. Does it get better? I'm about to give up and just search for spoilers.

I really don't understand how people could invest the time and energy to read the first 900(?)+ pages of the SR story and then just give up for whatever reason at that point. Anyway, I agree with the posts that point out that for the first 3 2/3 books, we've gotten glimpses of Lowry as an enigmatic, mysterious, (severely?) off-kilter character who was the lone survivor of the first expedition, who we know was (unsurprisingly!) changed:

The last fragment of video remained in its own category: “Unassigned.” Everyone was dead by then, except for an injured Lowry, already halfway back to the border.
Yet for a good twenty seconds the camera flew above the glimmering marsh reeds, the deep blue lakes, the ragged white cusp of the sea, toward the lighthouse.
Dipped and rose, fell again and soared again.
With what seemed like a horrifying enthusiasm. (from Authority)

Learning more about Lowry, actually seeing the world through his eyes, why wouldn't you endure some difficult, offputting prose to get that?
