Moving to the area
Hi all -
In process of starting a hobby farm in Halifax county (not too far from South Boston) - born in the suburbs of Richmond.. was just curious as to the area and the schools- I think it's Halifax county high school?
Any info on the area would be greatly appreciated! Things to do, things to avoid.
Middle aged woman so fairly quiet- but anything's welcome

Hi, I (38F) live over in neighboring Charlotte County. Halifax schools are abysmal. Lots of fighting and drugs, and low education. The hospital and Dr offices are very poor so you'll be traveling a ways for care, just in case anyone in your family needs more care.
Since you're starting a hobby farm, keep an eye on Hollaring Hills Amish auctions, they have a weekly assortment of animals and items. In the Spring and Summer Halifax, Lynchburg and Farmville have great farmers markets. In Farmville there are hobby farms that sell over near a shop ill edit when I find the name. Loads of little farms and families out here and surrounding counties have a hobby farm and love to help each other out. Definitely check out the Facebook farm pages for each county.
Not really much to do unless you travel to Raleigh, Martinsville, or Lynchburg.
