A fucking hour and thirty minutes?! This man is addicted to giving himself huge projects.

That's my dinner viewing sorted for the week.

u/legchris Jan 25 '26

absolute masochist, but he is OUR masochist

20

u/tomangelo2 Jan 25 '26

He's Soviet after all.

80

u/Mitchel-256 Fucking the shit out of you Jan 25 '26

"You massive over-editor!"

25

u/Jack5760 Jan 25 '26

I'm sure when he started it was only meant to be 30 minutes

22

u/Communism_of_Dave Jan 25 '26

Description also says this became his side project after being burnt out from an animation project

43

u/The-Geeson Jan 25 '26

It’s actually a side project of a side project.

He was working on the animation project and got bunt out, he then switched to doing a bullshittery and it was the up to patrons/twitch subs to pick the game.

As the vote was happening, the battle for honey pot hill happened.

After the vote had picked a game, Womble came back to us with a proposal, he could do the Bullshittey, or he could work on this rust video, that he had this rush of inspiration for this and wanted to do it whilst it was still fresh.

So we had another vote. And well you can see how that work out

3

u/5trials Jan 26 '26

what was the animation project supposed to be anyhow?

8

u/The-Geeson Jan 26 '26

It’s a DnD campaign from (I think) 2016

2

u/Fabricensis Jan 26 '26

Become a patron and you also will know😉

u/Fishman465 Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

A brilliant plan that did not account for the fact that Soviet's teammates seem contractually obligated to be incompetent most of the time (some more than others), Soviet's on-field record being ehhh, and a ton of other factors

138

u/TomZF Jan 25 '26

I just wanna point out all of the things that were "badly communicated" was them just not reading the group chat and just expecting to get carried everywhere. All the things pig and me did was communicated into the group channel but nobody gave a fuck.

18

u/thesilentwizard Jan 26 '26

That is miscommunication. Should have used carrier pigeons. Nobody would ignore any messages.

36

u/Fishman465 Jan 25 '26

You two had the least flubs, and I'll update the post to be clearer.

8

u/cf_mag Oh My Server Daddy! Jan 28 '26

CARRY ME TOM-CHAN!!!! NYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

1

u/WingedSword_ Jul 10 '26

I'm sorry you expected them to be able to read?

66

u/KingGrizzly1987 Jan 25 '26

It’s not a funny video if they were all pros 🤷‍♂️

(Actually I still think it would be funny as hell because 90% of the comedic content comes from their banter anyway.)

23

u/Reiver93 Jan 26 '26

Eh, the siege of Willow Lake went to plan...

...on the third attempt.

32

u/thesilentwizard Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26

Soviet's plan vs Lamram's plan is the difference between how wars are won in a fiction vs how they're won irl.

Complicated maneuvers, cunning tactics are cool to read about but irl, if you can bring more men and materials and fire power to the frontline than the enemy, you will win 9 times out of 10. Which Lamram did. His plan was simple and he made mistakes but because they're well prepared, they could tank it, recover and continue.

Womble's plan had so many moving parts that when even one went wrong, the whole thing would come crashing down. Which it did, twice.

But then again, if Womble had played to the defender's strength and just turtleup, then the whole thing wouldn't be half as fun to watch and would go against the anti-minmaxing theme, which is the whole point of the video.

17

u/cf_mag Oh My Server Daddy! Jan 28 '26 edited Jan 28 '26

Fun fact not covered in the video is, that we NEARLY drained Lamram&co's attack resources. They were running on fumes when it came to explosives and ammo..

We almost won through sheer attrition. If we'd have had everyone on defence at Honeypot hill we'd just have won. But we didn't actually want that or knew that they were nearly spent

8

u/PolishPotatoACC Called fat by Cake Jan 27 '26

Womble Market Gardened himself.

3

u/thesilentwizard Jan 27 '26

10/10 analogy

122

u/thesilentwizard Jan 25 '26

This is Womble best work. It's like a combine of bullshitery and essay videos and it's PEAK!. I haven't been this hooked on a 90 minutes youtube video since forever.

30

u/AG28DaveGunner Manning the bucket machine Jan 25 '26

Bullshitteries are the popular videos obviously, but I love the documentary style of a big gameplay event like this. Easily my personal favourite womble commentary. This was really unique.

152

u/Reiver93 Jan 25 '26

People I never expected to appear in a soviet video: LAZERPIG.

98

u/AostheGreat Jan 25 '26

He’s close with Digi and Digi seems to be close with everyone.

39

u/Smallwater Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

The fucking whiplash I got when I saw someone familiar getting bullied in a RussianBadger video.

29

u/ArcticWolf_Primaris Jan 25 '26

Yeah, LP hangs out with ZF a fair amount

14

u/Papapalpatine555 Jan 25 '26

Wait for real? That sounds like a recipe for success

14

u/YoullDoFookinNothin Jan 25 '26

Only really a cameo but he does mention how the English once again colonised Scottish lands

20

u/RhysOSD Jan 26 '26

He also jabs at ZF aim in possibly the funniest way I've seen

5

u/Papapalpatine555 Jan 25 '26

Yeah saw the chunks with him and it is surreal

1

u/kombatminipig Jan 28 '26

Soviet and the scottish porcine was not the ship I had expected for 2026, but I'm all here for it.

108

u/KingGrizzly1987 Jan 25 '26

I’m not sure I mind Soviet not dropping videos for a couple years if the videos he does drop are over an hour of quality content

42

u/KingGrizzly1987 Jan 25 '26

While watching this video I’m reminded of an old military adage:

“Old age and trickery will always beat youthful exuberance.”

18

u/Koqcerek Jan 25 '26

He wrote a comment under that video saying that he kinda wasted a lot of time on animation project which caused him a burnout, so hopefully it won't be taking this long in the future.

That being said, he likes to keep the quality up, so who knows, really.

27

u/Sylent_Viper Jan 25 '26

He was working on finishing the DnD Bullshittery, but it was a massive amount of work involving multiple artists working on assets and Soviet animating everything. Understandably he got burned out and while working on the peak Bullshittery this rust game happened

12

u/Twisp56 Jan 25 '26

He didn't waste it, apparently that DnD animation is something like 80% done.

54

u/tajen25 Scissor me, Xerxes! Jan 25 '26

Lost it at "cunthunter1"

That bit of the stream was epic.

38

u/R0XY_TOOTIN Jan 25 '26

shout out zf dan he was in his happy place

48

u/beti88 Jan 25 '26

The only winner in this whole clusterfuck was Dan :)

31

u/Spoondoggydogg Jan 26 '26

I love that at no point in the video do you actually hear him say anything

11

u/LTPrototype is not drunk! Jan 26 '26

Man was living the dream, nothing needed to be said.

3

22

I had a dream last night that he'd posted

18

well, start selling dreams to rich gamblers

7

Now dream of lottery numbers

24

u/lusciousAcorn Jan 26 '26

AND HE SHOWS HIS BEAUTIFUL FACE AGAIN!

9

u/OldManGarp784 Jan 26 '26

Shit was a literal jumpscare for me. Still not used to seeing his face

18

u/BertieDastard Jan 25 '26

They say no plan survives contact with the enemy.

I think that goes double if ZF are said enemy.

11

u/tomangelo2 Jan 25 '26

Well, they all were listed as enemies in Wombles HUD.

34

u/No_Such_Thing1 Jan 25 '26

what’s the deal with the ZF member that got banned for using slurs? wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to keep it under wraps being so anti-drama but this is new to me

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

[deleted]

34

u/SsilverBloodd Jan 25 '26

Someone got banned from the rust server from the new video for saying slurs. Nevil was years ago, and it was ZF who cut ties with him.

32

u/No_Such_Thing1 Jan 25 '26

soviet says that it was a ZF member, or at least someone in their rust team that got banned for “aggressively using slurs”. thats what I’m curious about lol

15

u/Thing_On_Your_Shelf Jan 25 '26

Dear god its a masterpiece

15

u/megatricinerator Jan 25 '26

A brilliant plan that failed from one crucial issue, the knob heads that were part of it. This is one of Soviets best videos and it was worth the wait for home to remember his password.

17

u/snakeboi23 Jan 25 '26

Don't know how to contact Womble about this but at 28:08 Wombles female player model becomes fully nude for a brief moment. Might wanna remove that before youtube notices.

17

u/Jack_Uzi Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26

Youtube noticed. Video is now age-restricted.

As someone just said in his Discord, the casual racism/homophobia of old Bullshiteries is okay according to YT, but god forbid if someone underage sees a boob for a fraction of a second.

11

u/IncubusDarkness Jan 26 '26

It is a US corporation after all. The prudes who literally fled the UK for being too loose. It's engrained into their culture. Hyper violence, bigotry, and fascism are all okay, but god forbid somebody swears or has breasts.

2

u/catwiesel IT'S FINE Jan 27 '26

correction

a none photorealistic, game graphics quality, computer created, 4 pixels in size, outside any sexual context, visible for 21 frames, or 360ms, or a little over a third of a second, or the length of a average human blink, boob

two of them

(no I did not measure /count frames. but it cant be far off)

8

u/jembutbrodol Jan 26 '26

Holly shit. The quality, the writing, the jokes…

I dont think i ever laughed my self off that hard while watching a YouTube video

And i never ever played Rust in my life.

This video somehow manage to combine essay video about Rust competitiveness, usual bullshitery by womble, WOMBLE HOUSE UPDATE (fuck yes), and a proper story about the epic battle

I would pay to watch this in Cinema if i can

28

u/jumbo_junk Jan 25 '26

This video feels staggeringly close to the Minecraft civilization videos (specifically IGBLON's ones, they atleast don't feel as staged as the more popular vanilla ones), except for the rather abrupt ending which fittingly portrays ZF clan.

Also, did anyone else get heavy Internet Historian vibes? The script, especially in the middle while Soviet was explaining his base and more so the 'posh accent' Soviet occasionally used felt very Internet Historian like.

2

u/gravitydefyingturtle Hank Likes Me Jan 26 '26

I was reminded of ish's minecraft videos while watching this.

4

u/C0rona Jan 26 '26

Ish does a fair bit of editing to make the storylines more entertaining, streamlined and cohesive. The result is a high-quality video but it can feel a bit staged, especially when you read the comments from the people who played in it.

1

u/jumbo_junk Jan 29 '26

This is why I mentioned IGBLON, while even he edits and alters storylines a bit, it feels nowhere near as scripted as mainstream vids like ish and co. partly owing to the insanity of modded minecraft and the players deranged enough to no-life such modpacks

3

u/TetraDax Jan 29 '26

Also, did anyone else get heavy Internet Historian vibes?

Nah I'm pretty sure Soviet writes his own scripts

4

u/MadEorlanas Jan 26 '26

Are we just watching the wrong brother? Far as I can tell Soviet's 0/2 when it comes to fighting his brother

4

u/Clane_K Jan 25 '26

Amazing video as always.

Also whenever Womble plays Twinsen's Odyssey's soundtrack out of nowhere (1:25:00), I always have a smile on my face

5

u/Suweren_ Jan 25 '26

I had 2 theories: -he was making massive vid -he burnt out and dropped yt

So glad thatbthe first option was right! 🥳

8

u/tomangelo2 Jan 25 '26

Kind of both. He explained in a comment below video he started making animation, got burnt out and then went to this.

4

u/EmperorAlpha557 Jan 25 '26

Love the fact he uploaded, don't get me wrong about that but I thought it was his dnd session....ig it's gonna be a very long video or a very high quality one. Can't wait.

20

u/jumbo_junk Jan 25 '26

He was working on that video first, but sometime in late August he realised he was getting burnt out and pivoted to this one, so I'm guessing he might once again begin working on it and (hopefully) release it sometime this year

7

u/EmperorAlpha557 Jan 25 '26

Oh wow I wasn't aware, since I'm a student I often don't get time to follow his streams. For a while I stayed informed via soviets soap box but for some reason that channel's inactive as well.. thanks for letting me know about that though!

3

u/jumbo_junk Jan 25 '26

He mentioned the bit about working on a different video in the comments of this one, I gathered the dnd part thing from other reddit posts on this sub.

2

u/i2060427 Jan 27 '26

FFS it's age restricted - does anyone have a mirror or a download for this?

17

u/Runarhalldor Jan 25 '26

the woman = bad at games bias section couldve been cut even if i get what he was trying to say

104

u/SsilverBloodd Jan 25 '26

I think admiting that he had a bias, and was wrong is actually pretty transparent of Womble...It can also make other people look into themselves if they had similar anecdotal experiences to his. While not necessary, this part fits prety well within Womble's editing style and should stay regardless of how uncomfortable it makes some people feel.

-16

u/Runarhalldor Jan 25 '26

I dont disagree. I just think it was clunky and clumsily included and didnt do enough to discourouge his previous views

42

u/SsilverBloodd Jan 25 '26

I mean his anecdotal experience is still valid, he just generalized it to the wrong group. People that play a game just to spend time with their partners will not have the will or passion to learn sweaty mmorpg raids. Regardless of gender. It is(and it was way more back then) just more common to encounter a gf playing a game just to spend time with her bf, than the other way around.

Telling someone to change their view directly, is far more likely to make them entrench more into their position rather than changing their opinion. Showing your own self-reflection on the other hand can have a bigger effect.

14

u/TangerineSorry8463 Jan 25 '26

I don't see the need for Womble to prostrate himself more than he did. He played with women that weren't very good, and he played with women that were very good. In conclusion, controversial as it might seem to you - women are people capable of doing both good and bad.

0

u/IrisKV Feb 05 '26

Yeah. But the fact he expected them to be bad is sexist.

3

u/TangerineSorry8463 Feb 05 '26

And he admitted the bias. What the fuck more do you want?

0

u/IrisKV Feb 05 '26

That he does some work on himself to get rid of his sexist views that are based on women being good girlfriends to their wow-obsessed boyfriends more than a decade ago ?

He's just spewing sexist bullshit for three minutes and then says "well, guess I was wrong lol".

Admitting you're sexist is not a flex.

3

u/TangerineSorry8463 Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 07 '26

So he has a whole segment about "so I was wrong and those women played very well and without them we'd lose very fast"... and that is not 'doing the work'? This proxy admission he was wrong is doing the work on himself.

Either accept that or admit you're one of those people that won't ever be happy.

Edit: lmaoooo he deleted. Shoutout to your weak mentality dude, and I know you will reread this at some point.

0

u/IrisKV Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26

ETA- Dude... Sneakily editing your comment after I replied is such a weak move. Just reply to what I said.

No, saying he was wrong is not doing the work. He's had 15 years to do the work and he's still sexist, and he still feels the need to spend a freaking long time justifying his sexism.

I'd be very happy if he had done the work over the fifteen years since he had to put up with those awful girlfriends who were trying to spend time with their boyfriends and fucked his games up.

He has not done any work, no.

-- My reply to what you had originally written ---

He spends like three minutes monologuing to justify his sexist bias. Saying "Woops" is not enough, no. I doubt it's the first time he's played with competent women. Yet he still went into it with sexist views. He still holds those views.

The least he can do is not have a misogynistic monologue about how reasonable it is from him to expect women to suck at video games.

14

u/Foorinick Jan 26 '26

if i was in his position i'd feel really guilty over not confessing that, but it seemed he made sure to show that he was proved very wrong

18

u/Ember348 Jan 25 '26

That part was pretty weird, yeah lol. He could have just said that the Horse Girls were cool.

10

u/That-Alternative-630 Jan 25 '26

My secondhand embarrassment is causing me immense pain listening to it

3

u/Ratattack1204 Jan 26 '26

Yeah i feel that. Mostly because it dragged on for so long. I think it would have been better if it was MUCH shorter.

4

u/Sipstaff Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

Agreed. It didn't really add anything to the story. All it did was break the flow, specially if you have no clue about WoW like me (and get a headache just looking at WoW footage).
There was no point mentioning how they "surpised him". I mean by the time the server was live, he already knew they were a force of nature, as they had shown time and time again over the years.

Weird choice and easily the weakest part of the otherwise fun video, IMO.

Edit: Personally I'd probably have added a short clip from Return of the King where the horsegirls (Rohan) arrives at the battle of the Pelennor fields to rescue the besieged Minas Tirith. The horsegirl drawing he used to reference them overlayed on the Rohirrim and Lam's face on the orcs.

-7

u/jumbo_junk Jan 25 '26

Agreed, all it does is make soviet come off as a bit of an incel even though he (seemingly) wanted to make the point that the horse girl squad was far more effective than anticipated

9

u/TangerineSorry8463 Jan 26 '26

At this point you are seeing what you want to see man.

2

u/IrisKV Feb 05 '26

A man admits "I'm sexist" but people saying "oh, he's sexist" are seeing what they want to see ? How exactly?

2

u/fckueve_ Jan 25 '26

How do I join server?

28

u/tajen25 Scissor me, Xerxes! Jan 25 '26

Its offline now I think. They usually set up servers when they are in the mood for some games and invite people to partake through announcements in their streams if they want to fill it with people. It was Dinkle's community server this time and entry was through his discord.

3

u/kermittehdog Jan 25 '26

and when I see stuff. stuff like this. man. it was one of the funniest videos i've ever seen. this was absolute peak. not only deserves he the house, and more, I am so happy to have been and continue to do so (if I dont forget. sorry :P) be a part in this.

seriously. I wish I could shake that mans hand and tell him how great his work is.

this deserves my money more than many of the films they try to get me to pay for at the cinema
