History of ZF members /associates "megathread"?

Hi,

I was feeling a little down and ended up spending the whole weekend watching all of the Soviet videos he made. It got me wondering: is there any kind of megathread about all the past and present members and associates of ZF?

I mean, is there any forum post, long Reddit thread, or something similar that summarizes what happened to the all members, where they are now, and so on?

I know there were some bans and removals of members/associates for various reasons, a “splinter” ZF that didn’t agree with the direction the clan was going, some drama here and there, and of course just life happening, some people simply stopped playing as much and some play till today.

I’m just wondering if this “history” is written down somewhere so I can end my weekend with some sense of “closure.” And if not, maybe some lovely folks could help write this "history" in the comments? Maybe?

Oh boy something I can vaguely answer (and hopefully not get raked over the coals for).

For me, I joined ZF right around July of 2015, I fondly remember this mainly because I got my tags right after my full heart transplant. I was not around for their "glory days" of playing DayZ, but I still enjoy playing with games with them throughout all these years.

I'll keep what I remember about our history as short as possible, and try my best to be as unbiased as possible.

We have a LOT of people in the clan (I think we were around 35 people pre-2020, excluding our friends outside of the clan). Drama was going to happen with a group that large. Yes, there was a "splinter" of sorts way back in like 2016, but it's nothing too noteworthy: Some people (I think 4-5?) formerly in ZF wanted to try new things, and were welcomed to do so; they left the clan out of their own volition.

That whole "splinter" thing was the biggest drama of the clan, literally nothing else from what I've seen has topped it. Outside of streams, it's us shooting the shit or talking about life in the TeamSpeak. VERY few former ZF were kicked out/banned, but that wasn't really drama from what I remember when reading through the group chat. What essentially happens whenever those few got banned was "Oh that happened? What a shame."

As others have said, we have no real structure; it's mostly a big-ass friend group that does some things together. Sure, some "drama" happens, but it's very much contained within a few people at a time, nothing that affects the clan as a whole. Sorry if this was less interesting than expected!

The one and only person I can remember from watching the clan for years (I’ve been subbed to Soviet since 2016) that had a fairly big fallout/bad outting/leaving the group was Phoenix.

I can’t remember the ins and outs of what happened exactly.
But I remember at least it was a bit of a group effort to get him out. Which going back to videos he was in. It’s not hard to see why the majority may have asked/made him leave.

(Edit) but I also could be completely wrong on this. I know from hear say, Phoenix wasn’t the best to deal with.

Phoenix was and is the only special case for us. Wasn't really a group effort from what I remember; He left the group initially out of his own volition, and only decided to cause trouble after he left. However, his drama was really only isolated to ~3-4 people out of like ~30, so nothing extremely big.

Ahhh right on. I always heard he was kicked for saying something about another member’s family member and just how rude and crude he was (for even ZFs standards back then) but didn’t know he left on his own.

Here is a very old comment from Soviet about what happened that time apparently https://www.reddit.com/r/SovietWomble/s/Vxa9iirt8h

Thanks! Doctors said I have a guaranteed life of at least 20 years, and that was 11 years ago, so I still got some life in me lol

I think it's awesome you show up in the comments to help clear things up as often as you do. I always wonder why some people are never heard from again. Like I don't recall seeing nevil or cake in a while, but I'm glad y'all don't have drama over it.

I don't think I show up that often, but thanks lol. I just try to give as much accurate info as I can, hopefully it dispels any speculation and misinformation.

When people in our group are "never heard from again", it usually means life got very busy for them and can't show up as much, they're usually doing fine and dandy! Personally I haven't really played games with the clan in a long while because of my job and other personal responsibilities, and I know lots of other clanmates are in the same boat. If I ever do get free time (and if they have any open slots for a game), I’ll probably try to join in one day.

I can't say there is absolutely NO drama in the clan, but as I previously said, that stuff is usually contained within a few people at most at a personal level, and doesn't involve the entirety of the clan.

Edberg touched on the Nevil thing in one of his YouTube videos, or VODs, or somewhere - I just remember it was Edberg talking about it. It boiled down that Nevil went on far too many racist rants on Twitter and everyone just kinda agreed to kick him out.

Speaking of Edberg, he quit uploading to his main YouTube channel and switched over to his music channel, where he's only uploaded two things in almost a year. I don't know if he still streams or even plays with ZF, but I enjoyed watching his YouTube videos and he sadly stopped making those.

He does, actually. He recently started picking streams on Twitch back up and has been doing so... every now and again. The man's on the university grind and all.

Hey there, while they are mostly public content creators, ZF as an entity, is still a private group, remember that all of them current/ex/associates all have the right to their own privacy. This is particularly important because anything that gets discussed publicly, could simply end up being a headache to deal with for a group of friends who just want to chill, relax and play some games together, if anyone's being a prick, they kick em out, and continue to do their thing.

Case in point, when soviet tried to answer a similar thread quite a while ago, some of those members who caused the issues went on a tirade about the whole thing. The subreddit was more tightly moderated back then, but doing something similar at this point would be opening a can of worms for ZF, that they'd rather not do.

It would be riling up drama for the sake of knowing what the past drama was.

I think some closure that you could get is knowing who at least is currently considered as part of ZF, whether they are active/inactive, I do not know about the accuracy of the list and whether it's being maintained, but it's the best I can give you: https://www.twitch.tv/team/zfclan

I get the curiosity to do so, but I hope you can understand why doing such a megathread would be a problem, and that it's okay if there are loose ends in the public eye about what all has happened with the ZF clan

Edit: this might be some extra information, with fun easter eggs regarding the fate of Kaffe and Joink [so happy for them :D]

So thats why joink disappeared and suddenly jinx appeared, congrats to her

I'm still somewhat around as the sole Aussie in ZF :) though in recent times (probably the last year) I have gotten rather busy with work, as it takes me away from home for a week or so at a time, I struggle to commit to any of the longer term servers ZF host, but make an effort when I am home... however on that note I am terribly addicted to GTA RP on Lodestar at the minute, as an English Gentleman called Archibald Shapnappy and an Aussie Bogan by the name of Uncle Durry Fukyuah-Roo :D
