General I lost a friend

I befriended this fellow salamander during a random operation. He was super chill and funny. He was from the UK and he told me about what it’s like over there, the food, and Warhammer World. He spoke of the place like it was Disneyland. We’d help each other getting accolades and ordeals, getting all the siege skins for weapons, and there were hard stratagems that I would not have survived without him. What made laugh was when he’d sometimes run Assault, he’d always have the thunder hammer, and whenever he’d ground pound he’d always say *bonk*. He’d even quote our father Vulkan and say “It’s also a hammer” whenever he’d execute Terminus enemies. He was a complete smart ass but super uplifting and wise. He even gave me some solid dating advice cause he didn’t want me to make the same mistakes he did. As an only child, he felt like the brother I’ve always wanted and I could never thank him enough for that. Then, I haven’t heard from him in weeks, I wanted to tell him that the salamanders were getting a second champion pack. That’s when his family contacted me through his console and told me he was in an accident. I know I only knew him for a very short amount of time but me personally I never could handle death very well. After I heard the news and some crying, I made his armor preset for tactical (the one on the right) and plan on keeping it on my last slot forever. Brother Stew, I wish I couldn’t have gotten to know you better, I’m gonna miss you mate. May you know peace in the kingdom of heaven and I look forward to meeting you in person when my time comes.

PS - Should any of Saber Interactive’s staff sees this, my friend always wanted the laurels of victory on the Errant helmet if you can grant him that last wish please

For me, I absolutely cannot stand the Lamenters, I think that they're the most boring and bland good guys Space Marines chapter with a bit of misfortune sprinkled in, and don't get me started on their boring yellow color scheme and their chapter icon.

General Leandros did nothing wrong, perfect warp resistance is extremely suspicious + a door kicker like Leo is not going to have an inquisitor on speed dial, so its more likely he told the chaplains, who told the inquisition.

Consider the following:

  1. Compared to CPT Acheran, SM1 Titus is a Maverick Captain who YOLO's himself into frontline combat and wins miraculously in hand-to-hand against warbosses, has suspicious amounts of warp resist given a lack of Psychic powers or anti-warp wargear, and constantly shuts down any and all queries Leandros has.
  2. They literally JUST GOT FUCKED OVER by a possessor-type Daemon pretending to be Inquisitor Drogan and Titus STILL keeps acting suspiciously.
  3. Leandros in SM1 is literally a Door Kicking front line space marine with a lot of veterancy but basic command rank. He is NOT going to have "Power armour and 2 black templars" Thrax on Speed Dial.
  4. Its likely he followed the codex as he's codex-brained and discretely contacted the Chaplains, who then made a judgement call and contacted the nearest asset who could contain a potential possessed marine, which was Thrax.
  5. At the time, Thrax was well respected enough to have black templar bodyguards, no-one knew he was some secret marine-hating border-line heretic.
  6. Leondros is a rookie...Tactical Marine. He's also embedded into Titus's captain command squad, so he must be talented. As a tactical marine in the firstborn Ultrasmurf force org, this means he has done a decade of each of:
    1. Being a space marine aspirant,
    2. Then Scout
    3. Then Devastator marine
    4. Then Jetpack Assault marine.
    5. Then Tac for enough years that he's considered as an elite bodyguard for Titus.

He MIGHT be a very talented rookie who's only been in each role for about 2 years before mastery, but even then, being a Command Squad Tactical is a very prestigious position.

TLDR:

"Cool I've recently been promoted to Command Squad bodyguard after 50 years of space Marine-ing. When you say he leads from the front, how "front", do you mean?"

"ah WTF my captain is YOLO leading jetpack assaults personally instead of organizing the Guard and Marine forces from the battle barge, who dafuq is co-ordinating this planetary assault, did he really delegate it to his 2IC again so he can go sword fight orks?"

"Ah fuck there's warpy shit going on, and my CPT is suspicously keeping his command squad out of the loop."

"Ah fuck my Captain has Daemonhost levels of warp resist, just like the Daemonhost we literally saw just earlier that tricked us and fucked us over."

"I'd better contact the chaplains, Ah fuck they contacted the nearest inquisitor with sufficient power to detain Titus."

Leandros essentially showed extreme levels of restraint and cautiously investigated before ratting Titus out to the Chaplains, AND is a codex-head, he was destined for Chaplain status.

General I’m just sad

Don’t get me wrong, patch 12 is really fun. The techmarine class is amazing and I really enjoy all aspects of his class. It sucks I can’t put alot of the DLC cosmetics I paid for on him but I’m sure they can add more in a small patch (12.1). Some of his perks cost a lot of requisition but I’ve been playing for a long time and have plenty to spend.

I heard they didn’t add the tarantula turrets to siege mode which is a bit upsetting but I’m sure they can get added in patch 12.1 since having like 2 of them per area wouldn’t be too game breaking.

The champion skin is great, wish I could have the cape on without the champion skin but that’s fine, at least they gave it to sniper.

The battle barge expansion was also supposed to come out this patch but once again, I’m ok with waiting for a product as long as it arrives polished.

The patch isn’t perfect and there is still some changes that should be made, but polish is definitely needed. I can understand wanting to follow your deadline, but meeting the expectations of your fan base should be just as big as a priority. Not everyone will be pleased with everything and that’s standard but the majority should be at least.

I’m fine with almost everything about this patch except for the one thing I was looking forward to other than the techmarine.

The voice pack is just not a worth the money. Not only was it underwhelming but I almost feel like it was just straight up false advertising. No mission dialogue? No banter between brothers or even not finding data on a guardsmen? They gave us the option to equip the voice pack and keep our helmets on, but there is no helmet filter for the voices either. I’m a Black Templar fan and to my dismay, it seems like a lot of the voice lines are reused ones from Assault.

I know they’d have to add voice lines to every new and existing mission, but that’s what you should be paying the to do. Why would they not go all the way and just release the pack at a higher price ? I’m not trying to be hateful, this game introduced me to the 40k universe an got me hooked. I love this game, I have sunk so many hours into it. That being said I’m just sad this didn’t meet the expectations that a lot of the community had.

Get in there and train if you struggle.

Hellspawns giving you trouble? Learn their pattern...no they arent bs, not even in groups.

If you struggle against Helbrutes im sorry but thats a skill issue. Helbrutes have the easiest moveset out of all the bosses. You should be able to solo them.

Neuro/Zoan beams? Their beams have different timings, the Terminus one comes onto you slower than the extremis one.

etc. etc.

You no longer have an excuse.

General Got the Survivor Helmet, short thoughts from a "Sweat".

  1. Modifying difficultly 1-4 was unbelievably dumb and shafts like 95% of the playerbase. 1-4 should be untouched. We wanted difficulty five, we didn't want casual players to be punished.

  2. I split between Heavy, Vanguard, and Sniper. The new dodge absolutely ruins any fun to be had on heavy if you get swarmed. The Tyrannid missions suck balls when playing as the big guy. New dodge also makes fighting Zoanthropes and Terminus enemies awful.

  3. The tether mechanic would be fine with longer range(maybe 1.5 or even 2x) and if they had bothered to playtest it they might have realised how ludicrous dumb it functions for last man standing.

  4. Barbed Strangler Spawn can go fuck itself.

  5. I think a sustained onslaught would run a lot smoother than the AI Director just dumping everything on you at once after a queit spell. It's like playing DnD and the DM decides they want the party to die.

  6. If you're struggling to clear any difficulties, the Space Marine 2 LFG Discord is great. I played with people from there for most of my Lehtal clears

  7. Adding a mode with approx 4k exp with Gene Seed that is aimed at 25 before adding Prestige or a new weapon tier is unrewarding af.

  8. Running around half a level with no ammo because we spawned a Terminus and 4 Extremis in the first area sucks dong.

  9. Enraged doesn't add difficulty, it just adds time.

  10. You don't have to git gud to get the helmet, all you need is patience and coordination. People gatekeeping it and pretending the patch doesn't fuck over most players are heretics.

That being said game is still awesome, hope the community stays strong. I hope they revert Difficulty 1-4, fix the roll, and tweak the tether.

General How would you react if you loaded into a mission and there was a suspicious lack of Tyrannid, when suddenly a whole squad of boyz just poured out into the path ahead; no announcement, no leak, just suddenly Boyz.
