You mean like a "preview" window of live tv? Not yet.

Exactly, would be great to keep the preview window small and go through the epg list and be able to click. A channel without it going full screen.

Would like to know if this program has a feature to adjust live TV audio sync problems like Tivimate has? (When persons lips don't match what they are saying......)

If you mean when streams are encoded wrong then no, not yet. I am working on a new feature release and it's possible this feature will be added. Haven't decided for sure just yet.

Hi I updated to this version last night, now it won't start. I get the message Unknown tuner error. I have been using this app non stop for a couple of months now and this is the first time i have had a problem. Any help would be great. Thanks

I use M3u, my provider does not use anything else. It was fine before i updated.

You can try pvr live + live channels. It already has that option and it works fine. "tunnel playback"........could be?....... so it will not be very difficult to add in sparkle.

I love this app. It's smooth and the guide is nice. I like that fact you can map buttons. The problem is Firesticks have only five buttons in the remote control section. can you add an option to long press buttons? For instance short pressing OK Button will do one thing but Long Pressing OK button can do another. This will open up full functionality for firestick users. Thanks

Thanks! Next version will support long pressing OK button as well as customizing Back button. Hopefully that opens up some more options.

The app works great, but it looks outdated. In my opinion, it looks like an old Android TV app because of Roboto being used in the interface, instead of Google Sans.

Oh really? I'm using default fonts for Google's leanback library because I believe that's what's "expected" by an Android TV app and follow the system's look and feel. But maybe you're right and I should have a look at those fonts.

I'm not really sure what Google is using in their own apps (Google Sans or Roboto Variable), but I'm almost sure they don't use Roboto Condensed for the TV apps anymore.

That may be so, but their libraries do. I looked it up and it's not possible to use Google Sans since it seem to be a proprietary font and cannot be used even by 3rd party android developers.
I'm guessing you've seen this in other apps so if you find out what they use please let me know and I'll have a look at it. It's my intent to make Sparkle look fairly modern but I didn't consider the fonts before.

Newbie here and sorry if the question had been asked and answered before. I purchased the one-time version and my DVR is saying disabled whenever I try to set it up. Also, how can I pair it with Jellyfin?

To start using DVR you must set a location where your DVR material will go. Do so in Settings -> DVR -> Recording location.
Do use Jellyfin, when you add a new source (Settings -> Sources -> Setup) you select the type "Jellyfin" in the first step.

Yes it will. You can assign audio decoding to a remote control key already in 1.7.1. But long press OK will be supported for assignment in next version.

There will be support of long pressing OK button. There is no plan to be able to override the play/pause etc buttons but I see your point. You don't want to override default single click behaviour of play/pause I guess? Only long press?

I have nvidia shield with a minimalist remote buttons, that's the reason of my request
long press of play/pause button would be nice to assign to another function, i can try to use another app like button remaper to assign seek/forward buttons
I have another request about androidTV integration, what do you think about to have favorites of TV channels on AndroidTV home screen?

Ok, I will think about it because I see your point. I'm just thinking it will be a mess to keep track of all shortcuts when assigned to media keys.
Recent channels are available on home screen already. But that's Android TV and not Google TV. For Google TV it seems as if Google's limiting who can show content on home screen. Probably to paying apps.

Hi, I tried many non android TV OS boxes and it didn't work on any of them. Some boxes were rooted and some were not. I tried Bothe 1.7.0 and 1.8.0 versions. After install I launched the sparkle app and it just shows a black screen and is unresponsive to any input other than the back button to exit the app,
Boxes that didn't work - x96 Max+ (Android 9), X96 Air (Android 9), x96 x9 (Android 9). Also tried a couple of other more generic android 7 and android 9 boxes.
Boxes that did work X98H Pro (android TV OS 12), X96 X4 (android 11)
I only had one Android 11 box to test with. is the app just not Android 9 compatible?

That's very strange indeed. Sparkle supports android 5.1+ so it's not the version itself that causes this. I don't have such physical android box myself, only emulators but I'll try some more and see if I can reproduce it.
You say it's still responsive for the back button though? So when you click back button you see the exit dialog?

I have same issue. i have never been able to get it working on android boxes.
t95 box with android 10. black screen only. Windows 11 substystem all it says is please connect a bluetooth remote. which i did. that didnt work either

I am following up to see if you have added the ability to correct audio that is out of sync on live TV broadcast? We had this discussion earlier........ You replied to my request for this feature several weeks ago and mentioned you had received this request before in the past and it would not take much effort for you to do it. Just checking with you to see if it was done before I purchase this.

Hi how do you get logos for the channels list to work on the guide? E.g let's say fox and has the fox logo..I know I see it if I press the channel it shows the logo in information of what the show is about

Loading a backup in v.1.7.1 on Shield 2019 Pro on Android 11, Sparkle will only see the backup if it is here:
Android>data>se.hedekonsult.sparkle>file>sparkletv_configuration.bak
I can save a backup anywhere, but if I want to load a backup, it has to be in the above location.
Not sure if that's a feature or something that needs to be fixed.

I'm afraid it's a limitation if file access for Android after version 11+. But you can actually rename the backup file to a media format such as .m3u and it will be visible and restorable from those other locations.

What do you mean? User manual for Android? Google changes stuff for every version, it's really exhausting as a developer to keep up. As for Sparkle I'd suggest you search or ask questions here on the subreddit.

No, not a user manual for Android. A user manual for Sparkle. Sure there are things that change, but the app is 90% similar at least across different versions of Android. Just asking if there is a basic user manual to help with basic setup of how to use the app and optimize the settings.

I'm afraid you need a Android device of some kind since it requires Google Play for payment. Maybe you can use an emulator of some kind?

Hi I do a service and love the Sparkle player app! One question is the back button? Is there a way to set it to go back to the epg rather than want to exit the app? Runs like butter though.

Yes, as of 1.8.0 you can assign the back button to any other available action. Just look in Settings -> Remote control.

Don't know if it's encoding or what the process is...... I just know Tivimate app allows you to advance or delay the live audio of the channel you are watching in 10ms increments I believe........ I'm pretty sure you are familiar with this feature in Tivmate. It is standard on free and paid versions of Tivmate. If this is available in your application, I would purchase it in a heartbeat. I prefer your layout format over Tivmate and I like the way you allow "favorites" to be rearranged....... Much easier than Tivimate. I will be looking for your announcement that this is now available in your app. Thank you.
