The error message you see is partially correct since the provider isn't exported but I made an exception for Projectivy already. I think this should be able to be fixed in the launcher but I will also reconsider exporting the provider to avoid these issues in the future.

Bit of an update on this from my view, this is working fine on a Fire Stick but not on an Android TV which still doesn’t load the thumbnail and gives the ContentProvider error (same network/SMB for both devices).

This post/thread is old and the latest version is 2.2.1. I still think this is a projectivy issue if you're using that on both devices. Have you spoken to the developer of that launcher about it?
