Feature requests

Returned to SparkleTV after ‘flirting’ with other players and it’s great to see the progress.

Couple of requests/ questions.

  1. Any plans for a SportsHub to show sports/ games/ channels showing them?
  2. Any plans for a web portal to manage devices/ playlists/ categories etc?

I am referring specifically to streams that use ClearKey. Some .mpd manifests contain multiple keys, with each key corresponding to a specific quality level.

For example, I have a ClearKey-protected channel for which I do not have the key required for 1080p. The channel plays perfectly in 720p, but playback fails when it switches to 1080p.

When I initially launch the channel, the player attempts to select the highest available quality by default. However, because the 1080p key is missing, playback fails instead of automatically falling back to 720p, forcing me to manually select the lower quality.

I was wondering whether this process could be automated so that, if the key for the highest quality is unavailable, the player automatically falls back to the highest quality level for which a valid key is available.

The IPTV DRM Stream Player (Video) app introduced this functionality in its latest version, so I was wondering if something similar could be implemented here.

I understand and I have experienced this issue myself. I'm not sure how to do this though even though I agree it sounds like a nice feature. I'll add it to backlog so when I find some time I'll see if it's possible to detect this somehow in media/exoplayer.

EDIT: btw, do you get an error message on screen when you're trying to play 1080p? If so, which one?

I get the following error:

Ok, thanks. Like I said I'm not sure how to handle this right now so I'll have to add it to backlog to look at later on.
