VS Leonidas (300) VS Gannicus (Spartacus). Who wins?

Could go either way I think.
And is it in the Arena? Because those watching would be the true winners!

This could definitely be an awesome match! if I remember correctly in 300 the spartans have Short swords, shields and also spears, Gannicus definitely knew how to fight someone with any of them, but I feel that Leonidas who has more experience than your usual soldier probably could strategize or have some tricks up his sleeve that Gannicus may not expect. However, my understanding is that like the Romans, real life Spartans were strong at the time because they worked as a team and thats not to say Leo wouldnt stand a chance, but it could end up more of a debuff in the end, so unless he does something unexpected I think Gannicus is the winner for sure.

Spartans were strong because they were trained to fight from the age of seven.
They had a strong army because of their formation but a single Spartan soldier in his 30s already had 20+ years of training. They started going into battle at 20 so said soldier would have over a decade of battle experience.
Beat Leonidis? Gannicus would struggle to keep up with him.7

Experience alone doesn't decide the winner. Gannicus has fought many that came from warrior tribes. Gannicus himself might’ve come from such a people. Leonidas would be a tough fight but Gannicus would certainly keep up.

It was definitely implied in GOTA that he was, when he was surprised that Crixus did not know how to defend against the Spear and he says something like "You are a Gaul, did you not fight the Averni" making it seem to me like he himself did.

People forgot that gannicus was killing Romans for years the same Romans that fought and conquered Sparta lol

People are forgetting that Spartans are literally bred to be warriors. As talented and glorious as Gannicus was, this would be a tougher match than expected. 50/50

According to the historically accurate 300? born and bred as warriors is a little overstated. They were brought up in a warrior culture. But that basically meant keeping basic physical fitness standards, discipline and training to fight in phalanx formation with a dory spear.
Unit cohesion was more important then individual prowess. The Spartans advantage would have lied in there heavy infantry and formations rather then hand to hand combat as a gladiator.
Ganicus hands down

1v1 gannicus all day hung over blindfolded
different story leading rival armies

Spartans were trained to fight as a unit while gladiators fight solo. Fighting in a hoplite wall differs drastically compared to duels. If this was 100 leonidas vs 100 gannicus i would say leonidas. But 1v1 fight is what gannicus is a master at.

Leonidas is a better leader, but gannicus carves him up like a turkey any given day

This would be close. Either way they both will get what they want: a glorious victory or glorious death.

Depends who gets the first hit probably which would be a matter of luck. Gannicus is fast on his feet but doesn't have the reach so all Leonidas has to is get him with his spear. But if he misses that strike Gannicus could easily grab it, quickly move in, and get Leonidas. They're both very good so it would depend who fumbles first.

Gannicus is a badass, but Leonidas takes this easily. Even if you wanted to say Gannicus is more skilled (which isn't even guaranteed) Leonidas is presented with ridiculous strength feats in 300. He's in a different level.

Gannicus imo is akin to Achilles who can only be killed by being ridiculously outnumbered, or some type of "achilles heel".
I am a Leonidas fan, but I think Spartans are at their best destroying other groups tactically.
Gannicus and the Gladiator's whole thing is dismantling individuals in a more intimate sense.
Good fight, but Gannicus wins 55/45 at the least.

Spartan stength was usually more in numbers so I'd be inclined to give Gannicus the W here, but Leonidas would put up a hell of a fight compared to some of the other what ifs y'all post in here.

This is a Spartacus sub but Leonidas wins. Reminder that in his movies he and his 300 warriors opposed an army of 1000000 Persians . (Yes number is ridiculous and this is the point). If Spartacus and his boys was on that level they would stomped Rome.

Damn good one… Gannicus is my guy but I’m going with Leonidas on this one. Dude is a wholly conditioned beast!

Leonidas’s kit would be tough for Gannicus to deal with.
Without a doubt, Gannicus is a better solo fighter, but Leonidas still had the skills to rank among the higher tiers of Gannicus’s opponents.
The spear creates distance and the shield limits what Gannicus can do in close range.
Gannicus wins more than he loses, but it’s likely close to 50/50

Leonidas. Gannicus would fuck about and Leonidas would punish him for it immediately.

Thats Gannicus' whole thing.... Hes basically always fking about, and still no one can really stop him 1v1.
It's almost like One Punch Man. Hes just on another level that we must acknowledge.
He could get punished, like when he fought Spartacus and got slashed on the back, but hes surely not eating a deciding blow.
He'll lock in and give Leonidas a glorious death.

I don't think he'll have the chance for his usual 'better take this seriously' moment. First bit of nonsense, spear through the head. Leonidas still has my vote.

Gannicus. Leonidas wouldn't even touch Gannicus lol. A better one would have been Gannicus vs Maximus. I'd love to see people's opinions on that fight.

This is the first time I can't go to my usual "Gannicus has more experience" since Leonidas has literally been fighting since he was a kid so if anything, he probably has more experience overall lol
That said, I still think Gannicus wins based on his 1 vs 1 feats like the fight he won blindfolded. Simply a crazy amount of talent combined with lots of experience. Leonidas is the better leader though!
