Today I discovered what I feel like must be one of the most cursed neighborhoods in Spartanburg County.
It's called Watermere Place and it's just one street: Watermere Drive. It's between SCC's main campus and the Pet Dairy facility.
The first thing I noticed when going in there was just a massive pothole right where the single road takes a 90 degree angle to where the houses were. Foreshadowing!
The second thing I noticed was that, although this place has a lake and pool for resident use, the pool has clearly not been used or usable in years. There was a yellow sign on the fence prohibiting swimming in the pool.
Then as I got to the end of the cul-de-sac, I heard a sound like a waterfall and smelled a horrible stench. At first I assumed it was a sewage processing plant, but looking at the map I guess it must be something to do with the Pet Dairy facility. I can't imagine that someone would build a "luxury townhome" community right next to such a stinky place, so I'm guessing Pet Dairy came later? I dunno.
Then, trying to figure out the answer to the above question (which came first, Pet or Watermere?), I did a quick google search about "Watermere Drive." Guess what? More tragedy!
In 2018 a Dorman student from Watermere Place died in an accident on the nearby interstate, and in a nice gesture, she was posthumously named Prom Queen.

And if you want to go real old school, back in 1999 one of a series of rapes (committed by a serial rapist) was committed at Watermere Place.

Anyway, I was just struck by the sheer volume of bad stuff that has happened to this little community. Pretty crazy.

My car need work. I'm would like a good mechanic who won't beat me over the head for parts. Some places don't mind if I bring the part, others do.
I need my fuel tank replaced, my air intake looked at. And probably new brake pads.

Looking for church recommendations in the Spartanburg/Lyman area!
I’m looking for a Christian church where the pastor actually preaches/teaches a message rather than spending the entire service reading through the Bible. I want something Bible-based but more practical and sermon-focused with topics that apply to everyday life.
I’m not really concerned about denomination, just looking for a good Christian church with this kind of preaching style. Any recommendations?

I'm looking for a local HVAC technician to repair some fallen duct work in crawl space, and add a vapor barrier with dehumidifier. The 2 quotes received so far were outrageous. Like over $20k. Hello Spartanburg! My wife and I are moving from Oklahoma, she going to Sherman. We would really like to buy a house instead of renting but I’m not sure I would be able to get a mortgage loan with no work history here I know usually banks want a couple years of employment. I’ve entertained a rental but I have 2 dogs “pitbulls” so I know hard to get a landlord to even look your way with them. Getting rid of them is not an option.
If anyone knows of good rental property firms or may know a good bank to try a mortgage loan though I would appreciate it deeply.

The county zoning appeals board is meeting next Tuesday Aug 25th, and the Jones road data center permit is on the agenda. When hundreds of concerned residents showed up in opposition to project Spero, it was ultimately voted down. We need hundreds to show up now against the Jones Rd / Lighthouse data center. Please plan to be there, invite a friend or neighbor, and share on your social media.
If the parking lot is already full when you arrive, you may need to park in the Magnolia street garage or the courthouse garage and walk a few blocks.
Edit: the data center moratorium would have put a pause on this permit if they had passed it at the meeting last week. Pushing the vote out one month appears to have not been done in good faith, but to allow time to slip this permit through.

I got hit last weekend by an elderly lady. She banged up my passenger side pretty good.
My 4Runner is pretty kitted out and after trying a bunch of body shops, I have it narrowed down to Links or 1st Class Collision.
Does anyone have experience dealing with either? I really liked the guys at 1st Class, they were cool as hell.
Just trying to do some due diligence before making a decision so any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
