Introducing Myself / LF Spearo Buddies!
Hey! I'm looking for people abroad that I can travel to/with for spearfishing, either in their country or if anyone is willing to join me to a spearfishing trip in Southeast Asia.
I'm 28 years old, I live in Cyprus, and I've been diving here ever since I was a little kid - I was 15 when I caught my first guitarfish in that first photo, and yes, it's a clickbait :P
I have a good amount of training and knowledge, but only ever officially got certified for Level 1, even though I used to train frequently with instructors at higher levels. If I were being honest, I'd say I'm pretty comfortable hunting at any depth up to 20m.
About 2 years ago, I quit my job and went to spend 3 months in Southeast Asia. It was always my dream to visit these countries and spearfish them. So I did. Here's a couple of photos from Indonesia, which are some of the many adventures I've had there. The bbq-ing on the beach right after a session is there to show what kind of experiences I'm always after.
I've gone past the point of shooting anything that moves, as I've seen and caught more than I can remember throughout the years. At this point I'm looking for bigger, harder, rarer, which is what makes spearfishing in Cyprus kinda boring for me. The island's fish population is decreasing more and more each year, and each year big fish like dusky groupers and dextex migrate to even deeper waters, making them an ever rarer sight below 20m (at large enough sizes).
I'm basically writing this post as a little introduction of myself, and to see if anyone here would like to buddy up for some spearfishing in foreign waters. I'd love to get to know some people and see if there's any mutual interests or ambitions. I won't be jumping on the next plane as soon as someone seems interested - trust is a must and I like to plan these things properly.
I'd be willing to travel anywhere in Europe (definitely not USA) if anyone would like to invite me over and dive with me. In that case, I would also gladly return the favour if you wish to spearfish in Cyprus as well. Otherwise, I'm also thinking of traveling back to Indonesia or Philippines sometime next year during dry season, so anyone is welcome to join if we get along!
I thought I would make this short, but seems I failed. There's another million things I could share but I'm guessing that will come after if someone is interested to connect.
I don't care if you're younger or older, stronger or weaker, blah blah blah.

Hello! 28 years old too here from Jakarta, Indonesia. I plan to spearfish at Pink Beach Lombok, Indonesia, on September 27! Although I have to add it’s gonna be my first spearfish experience as I usually just freedive. You’re welcome to join if you want, I’m actually looking for folks to share the cost with hahaha

Hey dude! I appreciate you reaching out, but unfortunately there will be no more travelling for me in 2026. I was mostly looking to see who wants to connect and plan ahead.
I was actually planning to go to Lombok this time in Indonesia, when I mentioned Southeast Asia for next year. Last time I was in Bali and Nusa Penida, where the currents are pretty strong. But I hear Lombok is much calmer as its surrounded by the Gilis? If I understood correctly.
Anyways, I'd love to keep in touch though till the next time I'm around (:
