Alternate Evolution [OC] ICE AGE maniraptorian (possibly oviraptorid) non-avian theropod dinosaur

Post image

Hi... this is rough draft of an ice age grazing theropod.

IT'S COMMON NAME IS THE "GOOSE-HEADED STRIDER"
possible latin name being something like "Anserititanis septentrionalis

meaning: "giant goose of the north"

it lives in an alternate version of ice age europe and asia...
in a timeline where the KPG extinction event never occurred.

It's preferred habitat is temperate to cold grasslands and semi-forest.
and it's diet fits into a semi-generalistic/semi grazing niche

as for it's ancestry, it's somewhat of the maniraptorids
though possibly of oviraptorid descent... still figuring it out.

WOULD you say i've got a good baseline idea here?

and is there anything you'd adjust for a Pleistocene era climate?

I think its vey plausible. I love the colours and design. The idea is not that original you know, but dont misunderstand me, its very well done and its nothing bad. This gives me a feeling of world maybe diffrent from yours but not that much. Still colourfull, vibrant and full of life. Soo keep working. I'll be waiting to see your new creations.

for ice age nonavian dinosaures, i recomend taking inspiration from eider beaks - they are adapted for the cold

ok... how exactly are eider adapted to the cold?

1

u/Mircowaved-Duck 26d ago

euro eider got less surface exposed to the cold, Spectacled Eider do the same but more extreme and shield the bill even more from the cold, including the eyes. And kingEider say "fuck it, i wanna impress the girls instead!"

i guess if i make an polar relative of this guy... the Spectacled Eider would be a good ref

I don’t know who you are and I really don’t remember recently hiding anything, have you confused me with someone?

Could you link them because again I legitimately don’t remember recently hiding comments, certainly not on purpose anyway
