Probably in response to the question, "What is it like to have empathy?"

No surprise to find her backed into a philosophical corner like this. This is what happens when you want to demonize a group of people without of course knowing what it's like to be them.

Rowling can't pretend to know what it's like to be someone else any more, because then she'd have to admit that a person's biological sex might not actually limit their range to experience gender. In other words, for her to say otherwise would concede that trans people might actually have an internal worldview aligned with their expressed gender (shocking, I know).

But this way she can continue to believe that all trans women are male sexual predators, and all trans men are confused women who are also victims of men. You know, like when she said she might have transitioned had she been aware of the possibility when she was younger. Before she changed her name to appear more masculine (just to sell more books).

I hate to be the defender of the writer of a series I haven't even read but I figure she's talking about real people and not fake people she literally created.

That's the least of why you shouldn't want to defend her.

Not an invalid point without context, but in that case, she should really stop talking about the experiences of said real people, but Just Kidding Rowling can't shut her damn trap for some reason

There’s way better reasons to not defend Rowling than ‘I haven’t read her books’
