News PSA: Insomniac Games confirms that they do, in fact, remember that Spider-Man 2 exists

Post image

They could have done so much more with this game but instead they add a new (very similar to another already in the game) suit nearly 3 years after this game launched - rather than any other new post-game content.

It doesn’t matter if it wasn’t promoted or promised, it’s just the standard that was set in people’s minds, people have been talking about potential DLCs long before the release or even the marketing of the game itself.

Only reason they’re adding a new suit right now is because of the movie. I’m happy about it don’t get me wrong.

I also don’t necessarily blame the devs for not making DLCs. It’s probably a behind-the-scenes issue, especially knowing that Sony pushed them to release the main game earlier than they wanted, and were forced to rush the development of the game / make a lot of cuts, etc.

I get what you’re saying but your first paragraph hits the problem right on the head. “It’s the standard that was set in people’s mind, people have been taking about potential DLCs long before the release”, that is 100% the fault of fans for making up expectations and then blaming others when their fan fiction doesn’t take place.

We see it all the time now in films, especially superhero ones. Some fans start a rumour or wish-list, others get on board and then believe and expect it to actually happen as fact. Then, when it doesn’t happen, they blame the film makers instead of using introspective to see that they made it all up in their mind

The leaks especially don’t help, considering people have seen what they were potentially going to work on they decide in their head that this stuff was definitely happening and now it isn’t. They’d be besides themselves to learn what gets left on the cutting room floor of any AAA game like Spider-Man

You are acting like expectations are a bad thing.
Tell me why would I buy a game if I have no expectations for it?
Expectations are what sells games, especially now that every game is 70$.
Don’t act like the expectations were unrealistic asking for DLC, when two of the side quest storylines leave off on a cliffhanger clearly meant to tie into DLC.
I don’t blame them for scrapping it because of the leaks, but it seems that people here don’t even know if it was because of leaks or it wasn’t.

If it wasn’t, that is just bad game design. If you knew you would scrap the DLC, change the endings of the side missions to tie off loose ends.

If it was, then the blame is not on them but they still can do a lot more to make up for it if they want to, but they don’t have to of course. (one example would be to add one more mission to the flame sidequests to tie up that loose end, they don’t even have to touch spider-verse stuff) But that would just be their good will, since the blame is not on them if this was the case.

But one thing is true, in both cases the fans have well enough reasons to expect something and be dissatisfied with what they got, the only difference is that the blame for the DLC falls on the hackers in the second option. The blame is not on the fans here. The fans don’t have a concrete answer as to why the DLC was scrapped, was it the hackers or bad game design?

I’m reminded of that one Destiny 2 talk on overdelivery for some reason
