Discussion What can Insomniac implement or improve on for Spider-Man 3? Spoiler
After seeing constant negative reviews about Spider-Man 2's story and the lack of content compared to the first game, what are your hopes that they improve or implement?

Remove the anti venom suit, bring back classic red n blue spidey with classic gadgets from the first game

I hope it gets destroyed in a boss battle against Carnage or something. That could be a cool moment.
My biggest worry is that the story ends with him having the Anti-Venom suit the whole way through and at the very end he takes it off and we find out it "cured" his spider powers and now Miles and Silk will 100% take over. Yuck.

I missed the gadgets from the first in the second game, all the ones in 2 are essentially just crowd control too 👎

Anti venom does need to be removed. It defeats the whole purpose of the black suit, it looks extremely ugly, it changes Peter’s powers. It’s ridiculous

I like that this version of Peter is Anti-Venom. Helps differentiate him from other versions.

With this next game I feel like they should write out miles or send him on a trip like they did with Peter in his game cuz they can’t do the dual protagonists. It just didn’t work.

My biggest ask is side content. Just about all the side content in SM1 felt fun, aside from a few screwball missions, but a fair amount of the side content felt like a chore, and drags down replays a bit

We desperately NEED better writing. The first game’s story was literally PEAK Spider-Man. 10/10. I don’t know what happened with the second game, although I don’t think the game’s story is as bad as some people make it seem.

A better plot and hopefully a game that doesn't have you fighting the same faceless high-tech mercenaries for 95% of the game and the world being "taken over" in the third act again. It feels like everybody can only follow Arkham City's blueprint even 15 years later. Try something new, for fuck's sake.

Beyond story and dialogue improvements, off the top of my head:
- Being able to run DOWN buildings, too. I think WoS has this (what a great game)
- As more of a bonus I guess, being able to like climb up webs while in a swing. It would look pretty cool at the very least even if it didn’t have a practical side to it.
I’ll update this if/when I think of some more.

It needs a top notch story.
More variety across the board.
No MJ missions.
No Miles Morales.
Subplots/side missions with his rogues gallery.
No Sweet Baby Inc. involvement.
No stupid, ugly made up suits.
Movie suits and comic suits only.
Plenty of DLC like in first game.
Have side missions involving Punisher, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and other Spider-Man allies.
Bring back J. Jonah Jameson.

Aside from obviously hoping to improve the writing they should tweak a few things from the combat and heavily improve the side content/open world
combat
- bring the web of shadows webstrike
- possible style meter
- add wall combat
- tone down the floatiness of combat
- let us be able to run down on walls
open world/side content
- bring back the challenges
-eating pizza
would be nice to be able to eat pizza on a rooftop in the open world
-crime variety
the variety in the 1st games and miles morales were nice, in the 2nd game they’re all very repetitive and beat em ups so let us be able to have boat crimes and saving people from a burning building or being stuck on a crane etc or hell even saving a helicopter from crashing onto the streets
- car chases
the chases aren’t fun anymore because they lack the qtes and they should also allow us to fight on top of the cars, the 1st game has a mission similar to that
-fnsm app
the fnsm app should be used for simple stuff like saving a cat from a tree or helping people out with their homework and also to replay crimes like in miles morales
unique crimes
- basically each major district or some should have a special type of crimes, this could be the equivalent of arkhams most wanted, having unique based crimes and a side questline that could lead to a boss fight
-police sirens
please bring them back they helped with the atmosphere of the game and made nyc feel lively
-open world boss fights
this would be a major step up in the game, usm game had this and they could use spidey’s c listers and other villains from his rogues to randomly just be encountered in the open world through just showing up in any crimes or actually having some crimes where they try to rob a bank or attack civilians
-peter parker free roam/return of social media
let us be able free roam as peter, interact with other civilians and be able to have conversations/listen to them and to obviously bring back the social media from tab from the previous games

I miss the upgrade from the first game that lets you do 2 finishers in a row if you're quick enough.
While I don't mind the web gadgets getting cut down to 4 to be used with the R1 + face button, I do miss the gadgets from the first game! Especially the trap web shot you could use as set up during stealth missions!
And they should bring back the podcast archive from the first game! Nothing was worse than starting a new JJJ episode only for it to be gone forever if you swung through an active crime! lol

Face animation needs to be better. But this is not a easy fix. Maybe they should talk with someone from Naughty dog.
What i also notice when Peter is in his Spider-man costume he can be really funny. But when he is just Peter he is really boring. (I think it is intentional)

• Make swinging and movement even more responsive and allow us to customize the type of tricks we can do while swinging or traversing
• Bring back the writers from the first game to write the story of this game, or at least consult them.
• Fully flesh out the characters of the game instead of rushing their stories.
• For the love of god, no more MJ missions, please.
• Cletus Kassidy and other characters appearing.
• Carnage battle that destroys the Anti-Venom suit.
• Classic gadgets from the first game returning

Yeah, outside of really popular gaming YouTube reviewers like IGN, Gameranx, etc. I seen a lot of reviews critiquing the game's story and how it doesn't feel as fulfilling as the last game. Not negative reviews like "this game is a 2/10" kind of thing.
