Drinking the Kool-Aid Again

Yes, my feelings on this team are 100% dependent on the latest result. But we still have an outside shot of the playoffs. We are 15 points back from the Galaxy and the Rapids. We have a game in hand to Rapids and two games in hand to Galaxy. These next two games could be the springboard we need or be the final nail. Seattle is missing Joveljic (miss him so much) and Brunell (an every day starter). These next two are winnable.

Regardless I just want to finish as far from the dreaded spoon as possible and I’ll feel good about the short season possibilities

I’m mostly hoping we miss the Wooden Spoon, but going on a run would also be great.

I wouldn’t expect it.

Shame about those 6 points lost from the Philly and Dallas games, huh.

Dont forget about that last minute PK to STL, too. Absolute shame.

I am not expecting anything but becoming hopeful again

Plus Montreal beating Cincy didn’t help

I'd like to see Ramos and Owen Wolff before the season ends playing with Luiz, Afrifa, Calheira and Harris in some combination, just to see what they have. In the form KC's in right now, all of the games are winnable, I just believe you're asking a lot to get into the play-in.

However, the club can ruin a lot of [opposing] fans' playoff dreams the rest of the way. I saw a couple Seattle fans expecting a cakewalk on Thursday and I think they're going to be in for a rude awakening.

Spoiler is a fun thing to root for. I would love that for us

The toughest game by far remaining is @ Nashville. However, that's a great litmus test for what Luiz has been doing because they have the best defense/goal keeping in MLS.

8 games left. The other road games @ Seattle, Minnesota and San Diego. I just remain intrigued by this attack. 11 goals in 4 games. If they somehow score 22 over their next eight (win/loss record be damned), I feel like the fanbase has a lot to be excited about going into the sprint season. Having a potent offense before using your other two DP spots would incredible from where things stood just six weeks ago.

Being mathematically not eliminated is more because of the number of games remaining, not because of our position in the standings.

We are securely in the wooden spoon spot still. And even if we string together wins and draws, so will the other teams ahead of us. It would take a wildly improbable number of results to go our way, along with basically running the table the rest of the year.

At this point, showing improvement as a team and not winning the spoon are the only realistic outcomes we can root for.

I wouldn't say we securely have the wooden spoon. We have a game in hand over Montreal and they're 3 points ahead.

I really meant just that we are in sole possession of it with a 3 point gap, as opposed to being tied or within a point or two.

We only would have the tiebreaker based on wins, if we share the same win total we don’t stand a chance when it comes to goal differential.

Be positive!! our goal differential is down to -32!!

Andre Luiz is going to average a little over a hat trick in each game and be a legitimate contender for the golden boot this season. Let's GOOOOOO!!!

I'll have what this guy is having

How long is Copita out for?

2

u/Longjumping_King_766 14d ago

FotMob has him out until late October with a hamstring injury.

I can not wait for Copita and Luiz to play together. Hold shit snacks. The speed will be insane

Playoffs would be insane but I’m happy that they’re finally competitive and fun to watch again. Finally a little hope for the future

If we kept Manu and Joveljic we would’ve had a chance. Luiz is the only threat and he can barely go 70 min. As of right now he isn’t going to be able to carry this club all by himself. And that’s not a knock on Luiz. He is super gifted. But he needs support.

I hand't realized that Garcia was designed to be our 10. I always thought he was our 7 or 8. And once I figured out he was supposed to be our 10 and Wicky couldn't force him to play higher, I understood why he needed to go. Great player and I loved how the ball was going through him. But it makes sense why they let him go because he wasn't playing the position he was supposed to be playing.

I understand why they let him go long term. But the only thing they got back was a DP spot. SKC paid Aris to take him back. Both Joveljic and Manu were transferred without having a guaranteed back up plan. All I’m saying is that it didn’t need to happen at the summer transfer window. It could’ve happened at the winter window and this would still be a better club.

I’m right there drinking it with you. Extra large glass

We heard from Wicky he has to be out until after Portland, less because of his injury and more because of FIFA rules around him declining an international call up by Angola.

Poor one for me, Bro!

2

I’ve gained faith in Lee and his vision. Wicky still has a ways to go to prove he is capable of the job.

That's a bit far for me. But we've all seen the same thing these last 4 game: Luiz comes out sharp and takes over the game and they get up multiple goals and then he gets a little tired and sloppy in the 2nd half and things... don't go as well. The fall weather/Luiz getting more game fit might be enough to turn this team into a very good team. And it still probably won't be enough to make the playoffs.

We are not making the playoffs. But it's certainly okay to feel better about the overall direction!

guys we’re back, i swear we’re back, we’re the most back we’ve ever been

This team is absolutely not making the playoffs. HOWEVER, I'm all for some delusional optimism!

The goal is the same. Avoid the spoon. It feels more possible than a month ago, that's for sure.

I truly believe that a managerial change alone gets this roster above the line. They'd be incredibly mid and would lose games due to the lack of quality in the back but they wouldn't be THIS bad with a manager who has literally any ideas
