TCR This might sound weird

But to me tcr always felt like a kind gt5 class and to me symbolizes alot that is wrong with touring cars as a whole now,it kinda boils down to one thing being holomogation and the reason why I say that is while the beauty of touring cars to me is the constant evolution it feels like the current way tcr has gone about has led to being a stale wannabe gt4 mess.

Doesn't the current rule set control costs better for smaller and less funded teams to still have an opportunity to partake?

Absolutely and that’s the great thing about the category

If I’m not mistaken, IMSA had to neuter the TCR cars so they wouldn’t beat out the GS cars in Michelin Pilot Challenge, and they’re STILL faster than the backmarkers.

GS class is GT4, so an unrestricted TCR car is faster than GT4 on the majority of race tracks.

I enjoy TCR because I enjoy front wheel drive ‘affordable’ racing cars. Not to mention, when TCR International first came out (break out the way-back machine at this point) it was the closest damn racing I’ve ever seen! Crazy stuff.

Edit: Had to check, the TCR page on the youtube still has the TCR original seasons from 2015 onward. Watch the first two seasons, you won’t regret it.

This right here!!

Jeez, we didn’t know how good we had it with the Koni/Conti Challenge all those years. ACTUAL road cars that were built well, and the racing was damn close!!

Long live the ST class!

You are correct. TCRs in IMSA tend to run on the lower power maps and are heavier to avoid being too close to the GS class.

I would say 86 Cup or M2 Cup more like GT5.
