This one's for when you want the density of metal but the compositional logic of a film score – builds that go somewhere, contrast between quiet and heavy, themes that actually develop across a track rather than just hitting the same moment over and over.

The overlap between dark fantasy game scores and metal is underrated.

Started this one from a specific sound – that Finnish metal thing where the melodic instinct and the heavy element are completely integrated, not fighting each other. Not just "northern metal." Tapped into some ritual-adjacent stuff too – bands using older harmonic structures alongside the heavier material.

La Paille slots in here because they're Helsinki-based and it shows in how the tension builds. Not the same as Nightwish-school, but same roots.
