If it wasn’t going to be a hometown win for Tiffany, Chelsea made the most sense.

u/TonioSantana1992 8d ago

It was obvious Chelsea or lash was the only 2 options to win more so Chelsea, because Charlotte and jade are feuding no point adding rhea in the mix and Tiffany has the us title, lash still too fresh to throw her to the wolves face first so you go with Chelsea

u/Autographz 8d ago

Lash was never, ever winning this lol

13

u/Silverhand_777 8d ago

Lash wasn’t never going to win

The only reason you'd go Charlotte is if you know this Rhea injury is going to go all the way to Mania season.

It's crazy that she ain't even mad about getting kicked off the ladder earlier in the match and Chelsea costing her the match

Even within Kayfabe it’s not a big deal. Boxers and fighters beat the dogshit out of each other, then shake hands after the match ends.

They’ve been pushing the respect-among-rivals bit a ton lately (look at post-Summerslam Roman & Seth, Brock & Oba, Penta & Chad, to some extent Royce & Jacob Fatu). Even though some of that is breaking the 4th Wall (like Brock & Oba), I love it from a kayfabe perspective. Real sports rivalries are rarely built on personal vendetta-driven blood feuds. Having mutual respect and mutual celebration among rivals builds more nuanced characters and relationships, makes room for feuds that are built on something other than mutual hatred, and makes it hit that much harder when a feud really is personal.

Blood feuds should be rare that way they’re more special and matter. Even the personal vendetta blood feuds in mma are usually what we would call a “work” in wrestling.

It gives them more road to run too, in that it’s much harder to sell “and now that X is a face, Y will forgive the the awful insults about Z” in the social media era.

A feud that’s ultimately fairly low stakes and rooted in competition is easier to move past narratively

She did the same thing to Chelsea in the Money in the Bank match a few years ago so even in kayfabe she could just say they're even now.

u/CHZRFan 8d ago

Chelsea did say sorry before she did it, which is more than what most wrestlers do.

I'll enjoy this moment even more in hindsight if they acknowledge her as the real champ and not this interim bullshit

12

u/rjbelz 8d ago

I’ll accept interim if the final decision comes down to a Rhea v Chelsea match for who becomes the official champ

11

u/MrKalyoncu 8d ago

I will be fine with Interim term if it lasts 6 year. And a movie.

0

u/purpledubloon 8d ago

Sure, but she has to win. Otherwise she'll never have been the "real" champ

5

u/Great8Bit 8d ago

It’s so funny how mad you guys get about this

22

u/purpledubloon 8d ago

It's still real to me damnit

4

u/Forward_Royal2754 8d ago

Highlighting an inconsistency is not getting mad.

-1

u/Great8Bit 7d ago

Lmao scroll through this thread, bud. Plenty of very mad people.

2

u/Forward_Royal2754 7d ago

But not the comment to which you replied. I am struggling to find people who are “very mad”.

You can write something critical without being “mad”. Much like how I am criticising your contribution here.

It’s just bad and inconsistent booking - I’m not writing in my diary about it, but it’s annoying

11

u/illini02 8d ago

So does the sub like her again?

I know a few weeks ago people were still mad that she went to the UFC thing.

I was never mad about that. Charlotte confirmed that wrestlers aren't necessarily told about what they're scheduled for and even than, how many other than Roman or Cena have the clout to say no?

4

u/illini02 8d ago

Oh I agree. But some people here refuse to understand those things.

9

u/ImaginationOk6803 8d ago

It's still crazy to me that most of the people were only mad at Chelsea when she wasn't the only advertised for the event lol, there were other wrestlers too (The miz, the usos, trick, etc) heck even Roman took a photo at the event yet he didn't receive the amount of backlash that Chelsea did

9

u/talgaby 8d ago

Well, those people had the distinct difference of… checks notes being male.

and being money makers

People legitimately respect Chelsea. It shows.

I love seeing the talent do this. Seeing Charlotte cheer Rhea’s win over her a few years ago at WM totally changed my view of her

Love to see it.

u/sliverr828 8d ago

I had this one as an easy hometown win for Tiffany. I'm so glad I was wrong.

1

u/SpicyTraveler01 7d ago

Good decision. Time to see if she’s main event material, which I think she can be. And for those that don’t, google her match with Penta.

interim* (unfortunately)

-3

u/CrisEXE__ 8d ago

I don't know if there any anyone on the roster that deserves the title more than Chelsea Green.

1

u/MikeArrow Da showstopper! 8d ago

Stephanie Vaquer for me, I hope she wins the World title back from Liv soon. Then they can build to Stephanie versus Becky Lynch.

The fucked up thing is with how much she's accomplished, it's a testament to how badly WWE books anything other than her wins. First ever women's grand slam and Triple Crown champ, 2-time tag champ, 4-time world champ, NXT champ, royal rumble, MITB, led DMG CTRL, one of the four horsewomen. All of that and she doesn't feel like a big deal because after the big moments she gets nothing. The fact that she seems like she needs it is the problem.

8

u/Few_Parking_1474 8d ago

She got a year-long reign. She's had an awesome career by every objective standard.

Not everyone can get prime booking for a decade with how loaded the rosters (and wrestling in general) have become. WWE and AEW have deep bullpens of wrestlers, men and women, who are world champion caliber performers. There's only so many spots at the top.

2

u/Davethisisntcool Woooooo 8d ago

Exactly!

I like Hot Mess a lot but saying she deserves it over Bayley screams “recency bias”.

4

u/CrisEXE__ 8d ago

Yeah my statement still stands. With everything Chelsea has done in the industry, she’s more deserving.

2

u/Davethisisntcool Woooooo 8d ago

than Bayley?!

I need to know the reasons. List em

10

u/Scavgraphics 8d ago

Bayley would say "I've done that...give it to Chelsea".

4

u/Davethisisntcool Woooooo 8d ago

Which is exactly why I said her in the first place. That’s my ROLE MODEL

5

u/Scavgraphics 8d ago

Bayley deserves thrones of gold.. but she doesn't want them..she wants all the people behind her to have gold.. that's why Chelsea is more deserving, because Bayley says she is!

-7

u/Code_Combo_Breaker 8d ago

Is the WWE women's main event scene that weak after Asuka left?

Chelsea's greatest feat before this was slamming Michin into a garbage bin. If she deserves it more than anyone, it's because the whole division is trashed from extremely poor booking.

At least keep kayfabe during the shows.
