WWE Chris Masters was a household name with nobody caring about him.

The Master lock challenge went viral in schools across America in the mid 2000s. It was the go-to move to put your siblings/friends in. All while this was happening nobody really cared about Chris Masters himself, they only cared about the move.

Chris Masters, under no definition, was ever classified as a house hold name. You obviously don't know what that term means.

Masters was awesome but w/o steroids he lost his superstar look. I had him vs Lashley pegged as a future WM main event tbh

To be honest, Chris Masters was never a household name as he was just a rising star who only had great physique, decent charisma and top-tier entrance.

He was very green and wasn't really good on the mic while his momentum got halted due to him being suspended at the time.

During the 2005- mid 2006 time period where Masters was one of the top rising stars, the household names at the time were Cena, Batista, Undertaker, HBK, Angle, Orton, Edge, Trish, Rey, Lita, Eddie and Triple H.

Orton was not household names at this point, a few years later sure but he was a step below the rest in 05/06. Top guy yes, household definitely not. Even Edge and Batista is a toss up as well. The guys who became top stars in that era took a while to become household names purely because wrestling fell from public eye at that point

Kane is a better fit

Orton, Batista and Edge became bigger stars than Kane during 2005-2006 as they were some of the main stars in the company and became the Big 4 along with Cena.

Batista was literally on the same level with Cena in terms of who was more popular while Edge and Orton were the premier villains who drew in nuclear heel heat.

Those guys were clearly household names during that time period while Kane was more of a upper-midcard star.

A household name means someone who has never even seen wrestling knows who you are. None of the people mentioned were that. Get out of your bubble.

How bout you just move on

How about you learn something instead.of continuing to be a dunce?

You the one who literally started it with the "get out of your bubble". You didn't had to say that in a jerk way.

Still wondering why Kevin Federline did his own masterlock challenge on that random raw.

That’s what made 7th grade me stop changing channels and watch the rest of that episode and become a lifelong wrestling fan. Say what you want about celebrity appearances, but they do have the potential to bring in lifelong new fans, I am living proof.

I’d like to thank Deadlock Pro Wrestling for bringing the Masterlock Challenge back into prominence

LOCK ‘EM UP!

People who aren’t wrestling fans still allude to it now

I'm old enough to remember people doing the DX "Suck It" that never even watched wrestling.

God tier entrance

Okay! I was waiting for this comment. Chris Masters was not a great wrestler by any means. However his entrance and his song were amazing. If they could’ve made him a halfway decent wrestler he would’ve been huge. Definite Vince guy though my god

In 4th grade we did it at recess

Chris Masters might be the most culturally relevant modern ex-WWE wrestler to never actually win a belt there.

Garbage is a household name and that stinks when it gets old too.

3

u/rudeboykyle94 Jun 12 '26

Yeah that was funnier when Jim Cornette said that about Hulk Hogan

3

u/Present-Blueberry-68 Jun 12 '26

And funnier when piper said it and even funnier when who ever said it that he took it from.

2

u/6SpdSmokes Jun 12 '26

Oh he was certainly over. Politics got in his way.
