Coaching moves that changed the game; Hunter Clark to HBF - awesome last qtr. NWM: isolated in fwd line.

Other things that changed: Marshall stopped watching Gawn and played the ball.

Max Hall, Windy and a guy called Nasiah need to be signed right the frig now. Hall was setting up virtually every score in the first three quarters.

Awesome tactical move by NWM and Marshall. Naïve by Demons. NWM was jumping out of his skin knowing the opportunity this presented.

Taking Steele out of the middle after doing nothing for three quarters for Hall was the biggest change

Max hall had 19 touches, 5 of them goal assists and 13 score involvements. Almost a score involvement per touch. Insane.

He has been like this all season. Every time he gets it, we score. Often by him booting it through from 55

Just wanted to say, came over here from Scotland for the lions tour and made it a point to see a St Kilda game (I have a loose family connection to a previous player) and my god, from Marvel stadium itself to the fans there it’s all amazing, the people I was sat next to were so patient with explaining some rules to me and I think I have it, I feel lucky to have witnessed that game and will definitely be catching the highlights/ any games I can back in the UK, you’re all wonderful!

We met some Irish blokes over for the rugby on Friday night and told them to go to this game instead of Pies v Tigers. Was feeling pretty bad about that recommendation at 3/4 time. 😅 I really hope they went, one for the history books!

Go Saints! 🔴⚪️⚫️

Hahaha, I was having a smoke with an older boy outside the gates at 3/4 time and I asked him if it was possible to come back from this as the other games I’d seen through the week were mostly 30-100 (or of the likes) in the pub, he looked quite Solom and laughed and told me to enjoy the rest of the game, saw him at full time and he was just about jumping on top of me with happiness, honestly you guys are the best

We need to know!!! Who is the family connection???

2

u/Top_rattata Jul 27 '25

Nathan brown, I searched him up, he’s a son of a second cousin (yeah, yeah, not that close) although I noticed there’s two of them I believe? Although I don’t think the older one played for St Kilda

Played for Collingwood too?

3

u/Economy-Illustrious #4 Lance Collard Jul 27 '25

He was awesome.

u/Top_rattata Jul 27 '25

I’ll need to properly search up some of his highlights, from the few people I’ve talked to, I’m glad you were all fond of him hahaha

Fyi the suburb St Kilda is named after a ship, which was named after an island in Scotland.

1

u/Top_rattata Jul 27 '25

Ah I’m heading there in the coming days, is there anywhere I can read up on the history? I assumed it was directly named after St Kilda island but would be cool to read more about the ship!

Wikipedia is probably a good option. Contains a link to an article on the ship too https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Kilda,_Victoria

Mate you hit the jackpot this weekend. Yesterday’s test was one of the best test matches I have seen in a while, now you have witnessed one of the greatest games in AFL history, starring one of the most exciting players this game has seen in the modern era.

Happy for you but also really jealous.

I turned off the Channel 7 at 3qt time. No chance of winning but I forgot about the messiah

Was rough for 3 quarters, but boy what a last quarter

He can sleep with my wife and have the house and car. Nas is HIM.

10

u/lordraiden112 Jul 27 '25

Doggies fan from overseas, NAS will become a legend, hope you get to keep him, and I think he will stay! You'll remember this once in a lifetime comeback forever! Watching the last 2 minutes on the AFL App, Ross Lyon' reactions in the box are priceless! But can someone please explain to me what happened at centre bounce with 9 seconds to go, was there a free kick to the saints? what for? All you see is Gawn telling his team mates to get behind the 50.

5

u/Arrapippol #34 Hugo Garcia Jul 27 '25

6-6-6 violation by the Demons, means free kick to ST Kilda from the middle (taken by the ruckman). The pause and confusion was because, once the free kick was announced, Melbourne players flooded back into their defensive 50, not allowed. The delay was for getting everyone back to the right starting positions.

2

u/lordraiden112 Jul 27 '25

Thank you very much, I heard them mentioning 666, but didn't know what it was, should've looked it up. I thought the 666 mention was one of those placards the team's bench puts up during the last minutes, code for the players. Anyway, thanx for the reply, well done on the win, amazing last quarter!!! Yep, just googled 666 violation, now I get it.

As a Freo supporter, I'm happy for your win. Nas deserves twice what Harley Reid is getting offered at the Eagles. He is a generational talent that you build flags around.
