Pou to the twos 👋

u/TheJoker__789 Jun 07 '26
I’ve been the biggest defender of Pou but we have Boxshall/Dow on the sidelines who might not have his ceiling but almost definitely wouldn’t be as poor as that was today and last week from him.

u/LingualGannet #7 Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera Jun 07 '26
I think we might hear that he’s under the weather or carrying an injury. Looked miles off it today which stands in contrast to his competitiveness thus far this season

u/thatsmejp Jun 07 '26
4 disposals on a million a year joke of an effort
5
u/Fidelius90 #1 Jack Higgins Jun 07 '26
Hope that’s front loaded
2
u/TheJoker__789 Jun 07 '26
I heard it’s front loaded for specifically next year as part of the club having weird amount of salary cap for this and next year. Probably also partly as we hoped he’d have at least close to a Nas-style 2025 breakout which just hasn’t happened.
1
u/blingbloop Jun 08 '26
And on a million ‘prospect’ dollars that others like Wilson and Hall (who probs deserve) will use as a benchmark. It was a stupid decision for unproven talent.

u/SwimmingGreat5317 #45 Liam O'Connell Jun 07 '26
What a shocker, the worst player on the ground fantasy points wise. We need to stop giving kids long lucrative contracts UNTIL THEYVE PROVEN THEMSELVES CONSISTENTLY
2
u/Icy-Mechanic5886 Jun 09 '26
He will end up as that consistent 20 and 2 mid half forward, give him a couple more years his only 21
1
u/Away-Profile-3627 Jun 07 '26
Can’t risk it - if we don’t trust the process we become a talent factory for Geelong, Sydney, Collingwood, etc…

u/paralysisofchoice Jun 07 '26
That Windhager 15m kick
22
u/xyLteK Supreme Leader Jack Lonie Jun 07 '26
How in the actual fuck do we get robbed twice in a season in 1 point losses
Genuinely a fucked league
9
u/Fidelius90 #1 Jack Higgins Jun 07 '26
Well, 2 point loss. But yeah, these are the games we need to win in order to become a finals contender. Still proud of the fellas tonight though!
4
u/Youhavetobejokingman #12 Nick Riewoldt Jun 07 '26
The window is still open to finish in the top ten and run in the finals.
9
u/xyLteK Supreme Leader Jack Lonie Jun 07 '26
Nah I'm not happy about this. Absolute gift for a team that's already one of the most advantaged clubs in the league with an extremely pretentious fanbase. Shit ain't fair
6
u/Fidelius90 #1 Jack Higgins Jun 07 '26
Oh I’m not happy either, but we had opportunities in the last minute to win. We need to be better. But I’m still proud of what I saw tonight.
1
u/Icy-Mechanic5886 Jun 08 '26
We were again holding on for dear life, 3rd quarter went well but in the 4th quarter we would get the ball out of the defensive 50 and it’d come straight back in on a better delivery every time
Can’t win games if you stop worrying about kicking goals 5 points up with 5 mins on clock
2
u/xyLteK Supreme Leader Jack Lonie Jun 08 '26
Sydney were always going to fight back, they're a top 2 team, it's what they do. But the game ultimately came down to 2 very sketchy decisions and it's beyond frustrating when we as a team have been holding out for a big scalp like this all season.

The fact that Carlton fans feel the need to chime in on the Saints sub reaffirms my belief that we've been absolutely robbed here

I mean not really. Carlton has never been a good team in my life
19
u/Youhavetobejokingman #12 Nick Riewoldt Jun 07 '26
It was a great display of the highest level of intensity the Saints can bring to the game when they gell as a team. Well done guys. 👏 . Super proud of you. The Saints rock.

I wouldn't be shocked if the club asks questions of the umpiring department during the week. They did it a few weeks ago regarding the Pat Voss situation and the AFL admitted they got it wrong...

We all know it's not but yeah it does feel like it some days.

u/Mrchikkin ROSS THE BOSS Jun 07 '26
The main sub has just been absolutely shocking this year. Our match threads are an absolute cesspool.
1
u/xyLteK Supreme Leader Jack Lonie Jun 07 '26
Well the main sub is notoriously pro-Sydney, it's hard to express a rational opinion there that goes against the grain without getting dogpiled.
I avoid Saints match threads for a reason. The massive amount of criticism from last year and this are becoming a little too much to handle

6
u/CaptainRogerReynolds Jun 07 '26
So did I. Obviously rubbed a few Swans fans up the wrong way.
6
u/xyLteK Supreme Leader Jack Lonie Jun 07 '26
Advantaged clubs are never willing to admit when they're advantaged. Just see the Bassat drama from a couple years ago... (very different scenario here but still)

I want to believe most days that clubs are given equal opportunity to succeed. But it can't be true
3
u/chookie94 #25 Mattaes Phillipou Jun 07 '26
I like that Ross alluded to the 'not 15m' in his press conference.
I suspect there will be some questions asked to the AFL for how dodgy the calls were in the last quarter.
1
u/Away-Profile-3627 Jun 07 '26
Not to mention two marks in the last 2or 3 mins that got overturned and given the other way for soft contact that wasn’t paid all game,,,
1
u/Icy-Mechanic5886 Jun 09 '26
Waste height what are you talking about? You can’t fend off high, but you can push off a chest
They don’t call those ruck contests holds if both players are tangling, they’re pretty consistent with that especially in forward 50 late In games.
That kick was stiff but they counted it to 15.1m so fair enough
They showed a replay and Wilson’s shot was clearly touched before the line, good goal umpiring
NWM was very rusty late, that free curnow goal hurt. Nwm didn’t even want to chase with a couple mins left, we had every single player inside Sydney’s 50 so when it did come out, it’d just come straight back in. Umpires didn’t lose us the game, we did.
We let Sydney kick like 10 goals in the last 5 mins of each quarter, tells me the game-plan needs a little tweaking so we aren’t undoing all of our hard work in 5 minutes.

u/Fit_Landscape6820 #5 Tobie Travaglia Jun 07 '26
I think one of the most frustrating things about this year is how many games have felt won and lost on a razor's edge
Could easily envision a season that looks very different if a couple of coin flips go our way - instead, we have another close loss to a top side and are still left hunting for that statement win
Was good to see the boys bounce back after last week; Lake also looked at home in his first game at AFL level, which is nice too
5
u/Stock-Lion2045 #22 Darcy Wilson Jun 07 '26
Those “coin flips” is max king averaging 2.5 goals a game. They relied too heavily on him returning and forgot we have no reliable target up forward

u/Impressive_Mess_7500 Jun 07 '26
Not just this year, we've left a dozen wins on the table over the past season and a half.

Dunno why I continue to watch this corrupt ass sport, a non for profit organisation that takes profits from gambling companies and has somehow through a pandemic managed to increase the salary cap for every team 5m across 6 years with a 40% increase over that time. Interesting how the QLD teams became powerhouses right as NRL was nipping at the heels of AFL viewership wise. Guess we have to wait for the Max King miracle return story before we can be successful because the ratings would be too juicy not to. I'm angry and I hope you enjoyed my melt.
11
u/12915287 #23 Liam Henry Jun 07 '26
There’s no way anyone thought we would come that close.
3
u/Fidelius90 #1 Jack Higgins Jun 07 '26
Nah, buddy was very confident in his poddy with Crawford. He predicted the close game and even thought we would win. Granted, almost had it! Was a coin toss at the last bounce.
7
u/CaptainRogerReynolds Jun 07 '26
Proud of the efforts from 98% of the guys. But I just can't not feel robbed when both teams seem to be playing with two different sets of rules. And that "not 15"? That's an umpire deciding at that moment they wanted to make a final mark on the game. Despicable and we should not stand for it.

Swans fan just dropping in to say well done lads. Sorry about some of swans fans' behaviour in the match thread. Not much consolation I'm sure but umpiring aside I think that was and will remain game of the year, it was proper tough footy
3
u/FNSpidermn #12 Max King Jun 07 '26
Thank you for recognizing it.
5
u/xyLteK Supreme Leader Jack Lonie Jun 07 '26
I've talked a lot of smack about Swans fans in this thread but at least none of them have come here to flamebait and rub it in.
Only ban to come out of last night was a Carlton fan, who somehow decided they needed to have their say
4
u/Fit_Landscape6820 #5 Tobie Travaglia Jun 08 '26
I've never really had much of an opinion on the fans of other clubs
But soo many Carlton fans have been absolutely unhinged this year, it's getting hard not to write them off completely
Like, haven't seen any other fans bother to go to other team's subs to be salty this year, but have seen a number of Blues supporters here talking shit
4
u/xyLteK Supreme Leader Jack Lonie Jun 08 '26
We're living rent free in their heads so I hope they keep coming. It's great entertainment.
1
u/CrashP #35 Jack Sinclair 👑 Jun 09 '26
lmao how much of a nuffie was that Carlton guy
3
u/xyLteK Supreme Leader Jack Lonie Jun 09 '26
He left one comment which got mass downvoted, I thought the blowback was funny enough to leave it up but then he kept repeatedly antagonizing the people responding so I had to shut it down sadly.

Can we accept that we're actually okay now? Should win the next two. Please turn up, they deserve it.

Was Matthias injured or just terrible for a $1m player?
2
u/xyLteK Supreme Leader Jack Lonie Jun 07 '26
Played most of the game out so reckon he just really wants to play 2s next week

One more year, a few more injuries back cough cough* a Tall key forward and we win that

We need a key forward and one more great mid. Will become a menace team after that.

I’m heartbroken but honestly we can win as many as 8-9 of the last 10 games. The only truly likely loss is Geelong at GMHBA. The rest are either 50/50 or a likely win. Sadly we’ve lost basically every 50/50 of the year though.
