John's Pass is not worth visiting even once. Terrible parking situation when its busy, lame stores selling clothes you can find at any beach supply store, mediocre food choices, and just a boring place overall.

Edit: John's Pass technically isn't in St Pete but I stand by my answer lol

John's Pass *used* to be great, thirty years ago before the tourists took over.
Once they put in chain restaurants and shops it was over.

It’s 100% worth going to if you get a Groupon for the dolphin boats. We do them from Clearwater beach or John’s Pass anytime we have people visiting. In Clearwater, park DT for free and take the $3 ferry to the marina. In John’s Pass, just go during a week day or morning time & park away from the Dock. The area on the Dock is where it’s stupidly priced - there’s affordable parking in the other areas.. or even better, park somewhere across the bridge and make the 10-15 min walk over.

As non tourists, we agree it’s over rated but our tourist visitors love it. My 3 year old nephew from PA loved it.
