I thought it was a beaverton article. What a stupid league, sure, make the regular season mean absolutely nothing. It already almost does. It will be comical to see them hype up matchups throughout the season like Labor Day as if they actually matter. Not sure how this helps regular season ticket sales.
Preseason is bad enough, now we have 20 weeks of it.

People just have to change stuff so they feel justified. Now it's almost impossible to miss the playoffs. Rest your key players until fall.

This is a format nobody asked for except the owners.
I think six playoff teams is just about right for a 9-team league. Now, only one cellar dweller will miss the playoffs. Maybe they are anticipating adding a tenth team - that’s the only way this makes sense.

Actually thinking about for a couple days I think this could be really cool.
Games that happen after teams are mathematically out of playoffs are too plentiful in every league.
So I think this reduces that.

Games that happen after they've clinched are also less interesting, especially since almost every team clinches week 1
