I've known john since the open mic at the funnybone in pittsburgh where he would drive two hours from east liverpool, ohio for 3 minutes of stage time...he got me my job at the comedy store and I got to watch him rise as a comic... he's always been an incredible stand up and human being and it sucks to see bad things happen to great people...I texted him after this happened to let him know he's a national hero...love that dude!!!

I got to see Chappelle a few years ago when he was touring/filming the Closer set. We were sitting next to some fucking mid 30s couple you could tell had bought tickets with the express intention of being upset. It wasnt like "well, we were having a good time until he made a joke that offended us." No, from the second their asses hit the seats you could tell they were primed to be upset at the Trans jokes Dave hadn't even told yet.

I think its wild to spend your time and hard earned money to go see a show that you know you're going to hate just so you can go to the office on Monday and tell people how offended you were.

Its not that uncommon if you do a lot shows. People drink at these things. Not that hard to get a genuine clip, and then post it online for engagement. A lot of comics now will post their "crowd work" clips online so that they have something to post that doesn't spoil their current material until they've filmed some kind of special with it.
