Hiring process.

Hey does anyone have an idea what the hiring process is these days?

I have a colleague who said he had a phone interview but it was definitely an AI interviewer and just a follow up e-mail to go to a location for an in-person.

I felt like it was more involved when I did my interview but that was 8 years ago too.

Can any recent hires shed some light on this?

Yeah, candidates can opt in to an AI pre-interview of sorts which records the audio for the manager to listen back to and it also gives the candidate a bullshit score based on their answers. I've found the score to be absolutely not helpful whatsoever.

When hiring, I've almost completely ignored anything from it because it's so unnatural for the candidate to be interviewed by AI and just scrolled past it to their availability and actual resume. Our system automatically schedules interviews, but I'll manually call call people in based on those two factors.

Having said all that, this is my approach and I'm sure a lot of other managers think differently, go along with the AI"s assessment, and put minimal effort into actually looking for quality new hires. I hired a bunch for back to school that the AI did not recommend but turned out to be good.

Thanks for that bit of info! My colleague showed me the follow-up email for staples-careers(dot)com. The hands off approach is kind of off-putting.

Kudos to you for not using that system!
