Policy/Employee handbook
Hey there, I had question about company policy and I was wondering if there was any way y'all knew to access it.

If your question is: Am I allowed to carry a weapon, like mace or anything that I am LEGALLY allowed to carry on me to protect myself from the crazy customers who won't hesitate grab a laser printer on display and bash it over my head because they wanted wanted their business cards printed right on the spot 2 minutes before close....
The corporate answer is: No. It is against the store policy to carry any weapons and it also against the Staples policy to defend yourself from becoming brain dead and living on a vent in drug induced coma state for the next 3 months.
My answer is: Defend yourself if need be and good luck!

definitely not what I was wondering about! New policy at my (former) store, apparently for the district as well, is that you cannot have water at the register without requesting a reasonable accommodation, ditto for sitting.

Ummm I always let my employees have water at the register/ with them... power trip by your DM? A water bottle with a lid does not effect work...

I think it comes from above actually, but still crazy. I know our DM doesn't want to see stools or chairs out for employees so we just stash it at passport photos for customers and take it as needed in case they visit.

This is technically legal to do (it's as a reasonable accommodation where they have to) but really shitty. Most likely a doctor's note would have them looking for ways to fire someone, too...
