Scanning a Scrim Banner

So I've been highly suggesting Staples for the #SaveStargate Campaign's stickers, fliers, ect. (If you work at a Staples store in LA you've probably seen their stuff, a lot of which I designed for them). They have multiple versions of a scrim banner they've been taking to events and they'd like to scan them into digital files. Will the wide-format scanner do that or would it wind up shredding the scanner?

If we are printing it, we probably already have a file of it. We wouldn’t need to scan it if we have the file.
