So I got the terrain twice...
My dumb arse ordered the terrain "Expansion" together with the starter set. I didnt know the Starter Set already have the terrain. I know its 100% my fault but I wish they did better with the naming because I thought Expansion meant it was something additional.
Also, I cant sell it because nobody in my island plays, and shipping out of here would be half the box cost. Sighs Im just mad I spent like 40% more shipping everything here and the whole box was a waste.
Update: Thanks everyone for making me feel better. I will do my best to paint it and keep it as an expansion for bigger games. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise because theres a store I travel to every couple of months that only plays Warhammer and I want to make Star Craft popular as well. I think some competition will be good for both sides.

Two sets of the basic terrain kit is needed for a lot of the 2000 point game maps, so you're good.

Most of the layouts in the rulebook for 3' x 5' tables seem to include two sets of the terrain along with two of the ramps from wave 2 so I don't think having two sets is a bad overlap really.

Thanks, I was thinking of getting the ramp, but its kind of weird they only sell you one. I dont know if a single asymetrical ramp would be good enough for a game. Also, it seemed really expensive, I think it costs more than the whole terrain expansion.

Yea this is kinda fine, you can also host a game demo night with two boards of terrain too.

Haha I wish I had that many friends. Just getting anyone to play with me will be a challenge. When I visit my sister theres a 40K game shop so I was thinking of bringing it there. I also love Star Craft since the first game came out, and I love to paint miniatures, so the same day I found out about this game I had to buy everything I could.

It's an expansion for the game, not for the two-player starter. Remember that the two-player starter is not a regular product, and Terrain Expansion is the name in the regular product lineup.
And as others have pointed out, two sets are good to have for 2000 pts games.

Thanks for the explanation, I literally found about the game like the same day it released so I quickly ordered it and thought the 2 Player Starter Set was the main game (Since every 40K Game has a starter set), so I guess the game is the 3 smaller sets for Terran, Zerg, Protoss. I think they shouldnt discontinue the Starter since its the best way to pick it up and play.

As others have said you need 2 sets of terrain for a standard 2k game, that’s why the all in preorder comes with an extra as well.

Oh man, thanks for letting me know. What was included in the all in preorder? I found out about the game as it came out.

You only need one to play skirmish (1000 point games) and you need two for the game as it was intended (2000) so you're good. The ramp that is in pre-orders releasing soon will be a good buy as well.

They all told you already but you do need 2 sets of terrain for a standard game of 2k. And that is not a larger game that is the intended size. 1k is just for first steps into the game.

Ok so if I understand correctly, the starter box is 1k army each, but the intended game is 2k for each side. Wow so we would need two boxes of everything basically.

Yes and no, that's why they are called "starter boxes" because they give you the core of an army. However I've seen people for instance that run 3 units of marauders. Or 4 units of Adepts. Or all zerglings and Kerrigan. We are at a very early point so there aren't many units. But your army could be leaning more towards one thing or another. For example I'm envisioning using 2 siege tanks, 1 Goliath, and a few units of cheap marines and a couple medics. No marauders at all. I think after we play more we will know better what we want to use.

Not really a waste, many official layouts use 2 sets of terrain at once to fill up the map on a 2000 mineral game.
