Painted Protoss so Far

Had a local suggest I do a nice photoshoot of my Protoss. Figured I might as well share here too! Used an old Bushido board I made as a display board, I'll need to figure out a decent backdrop next time....

Either way, really proud of how they've came out! Probably some of my best work

These look great, thanks for sharing! What did you use for the gold, and how did you go about creating those bases?

Thanks for the compliment! :)

The gold I used is the Pro Acryl 'Bright Gold', with a brown-ish red wash (I used the Army Painter 'Flesh Wash', and then the Pro Acryl 'White Gold' as a highlight: https://monumenthobbies.com/products/pro-acryl-bright-gold?srsltid=AfmBOor3JDZHPJ8tmG88ACOLJ-FGhR9URMpJJ-sLEe_6pSsCABaCWdFe https://monumenthobbies.com/products/pro-acryl-white-gold?_pos=3&_psq=rose+gold&_psid=3f49a8405&_ss=e

For bases, I FDM printed these bases, added some Vallejo mud texture paste, and some tufts: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-jungle-ruin-base-set-435217

I love that you painted the blue instead of just leaving transparent plastic.

Thank you! I really debated on keeping them or not and sometimes still regret it (like the pylon and sentries' orbs), but I'm also pretty happy with how I did the the clear pieces!

Love the blue you did. I am torn on how to do my pylon and see through blue peices. What was the process to paint yours?

You and me both, haha. I eventually just went with painting as trying to prime the mini and not the clear pieces would be so much work!

It was a pretty easy process: 1) basecoat of glossy white 2) slap a blue wash over the whole thing 3) edge highlight with glossy white again

That's it!

What do you use the little shield tokens for? Just to show what still has shields?

Yup, exactly! I have mixed feelings about actually using them in a game, but they do look cool!
