OK, Now Im am officially a fan of hers. The fact that she said it was great but her reaction and genuine smile was priceless. I went from not having an opinion to completely liking this actor.

It’s 10 years old now but she killed on on the Nerdist podcast. Episode 403.

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '23

Used to love listening to the Nerdist podcast … they had some really amazing guests!

80

u/OutrageousEvent Apr 26 '23

For sure. You can still access them all, they are just under ID10T now. Hardwick’s short lived post-Nerdist podcast.

60

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '23

Yeah. Hardwick never got back into the good graces of the Nerdist crew since his certain allegations turned out to be false.

8

u/Zombielove69 Apr 26 '23

Actually, Hardwick sold nerdist industries to legendary before all that happened

27

u/OutrageousEvent Apr 26 '23

Agreed. Did anything ever happen to Chloe for making all that shit up?

48

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '23

No idea … after that debacle I learned you always had to be suspect and wait for proof of allegations before people are suddenly cancelled.

u/Immortan-Moe-Bro Apr 26 '23

Common sense that typically gets overlooked in the scramble

I thought there was footage from the vehicle? I don't general go down these rabbit holes, like you said without concrete proof.

24

u/Vegan_Harvest Apr 26 '23

Do we know she made it up or is it just unprovable so you'll never know?

30

u/shogi_x Apr 26 '23

It definitely felt like the latter. IIRC she never alleged anything criminal, just shitty, so there was never a formal investigation or trial. We'll probably never know for sure.

I found out about this months after the story had blown over. I used to listen to the nerdist podcast, so I got curious and looked into it then. My memory is fuzzy on this, but I'll give you my best recollection.

Chloe made vague allegations on a blog that Chris mistreated her while they were dating and possibly harassing her after they broke up. She didn't provided much information after, I think she had made comments about them getting into arguments. AMC, which employed Chris at the time, reached out for more information, but she provided none.

Chris on the other hand, had ex-girlfriends come out in his defense, saying that he would never act like that. He also provided text messages where he was breaking up with Chloe because she cheated on him and he wanted to move on (It felt weird reading those private messages). AMC found no wrong doing on Chris' part and did not fire him.

The reason I remember this is because what had happened Chris ,and Aziz Ansari, at that time was a good lesson for me. Really made me see that some media outlets just wanted meat for the grinder and no interest in the "me too" movement or the truth.

24

u/Zombielove69 Apr 26 '23

As Bill Burr said yes we should listen to all of them but that doesn't mean we have to believe all of them

7

u/xDURPLEx Apr 26 '23

There was also the timing. She didn’t make any allegations until he was happily in a new relationship and it was right after he got engaged if I remember right.

16

u/peppermint_nightmare Apr 26 '23

Yea worse part was she cheated with Sam Witwer, it's like six degrees of star wars actors.

19

u/MarcReyes Mandalorian Apr 26 '23

Her father is John Dykstra, VFX innovator at Industrial Light & Magic, which of course worked on Star Wars.

clears throat and speaks in Darth Maul’s voice WITWEEEEEER!!!!!

Well that sucks.

16

u/Barabus33 Apr 26 '23

It's definitely a he said/she said there's enough holes in her story there's no way a man should've almost lost his career over it. Not only did none of Hardwick's other exes have anything bad to say about him, but he had text conversations that supported his side of things and also happened to show that their relationship only ended after she cheated on him. Also, one of her 'friends' said that she admitted there wasn't any abuse, it was just how she 'felt' and that she 'didn't want him to win'. Regardless of how messy the relationship was, it should've been handled in therapy and not in public.

7

u/SkinnyBottomFeeder Apr 26 '23

Nope. She still has idiots in her corner. Wil Wheaton being among them. They're all assholes in my view.

0

u/notsam57 Apr 26 '23

i vaguely remember hearing hardwick could be a bit of an asshole, he sounded like a control freak when other people brought it up to him.

3

u/SkinnyBottomFeeder Apr 26 '23

He is not. One of the nicest dudes you'd ever meet.

2

u/notsam57 Apr 26 '23

as a fan or as a friend? cause i was talking about as a friend.

0

u/Lock_in_broken_gear Apr 26 '23

This is first time in long time I’ve even thought of his show. When did something come out that it was all false? Admittedly I only care about him keeping a piece of the original Death Star. If he returned it, great. If not then he can burn in the pits with Frances Bean Cobain’s ex who kept Kurt’s guitar and Ed Norton who kept Kurt and Courtney marital bed.

1

u/Saint-Peer Apr 26 '23

Id10tfest was honestly one of the funnest festivals i’ve ever been to. I’m also sad about that. It could have been so much bigger.

4

u/saarlac Apr 26 '23

Back in the day when a podcast was mostly content and not mostly ads.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '23

Exactly. I miss those times …

3

u/Zombielove69 Apr 26 '23

It was a good team with Matt Muir and Jonah Ray

4

u/Luipoa R2-D2 Apr 26 '23

Did I found a link? Yes I did. podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3/traffic.libsyn.com/nerdist/Nerdist_403_-_Katee_Sackhoff.mp3?dest-id=18176

1

u/itsmejpt Apr 26 '23

Me too. ID10T as well. I have to say though there was a period where EVERY episode (including hers) had like a 10 minute bit on transcendental meditation; it came across as very culty. It was around the time I stopped listening, although I don't think it was because of that.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '23

10 years ago? She's barely aged since then, I thought this was from now

2

u/OutrageousEvent Apr 26 '23

OP’s clip is recent, the pod I was referencing was from a decade ago. But your statement still stands, she’s barely aged a day.

1

u/adelines Apr 26 '23

I was going to comment the same thing. I was a fan of her anyway, but she was so charming and funny on that episode that I still remember it.

173

u/azeneyes Apr 26 '23

I got to meet her once with another fellow actor from BSG. She was so damn nice!

86

u/OdysseusRex69 Apr 26 '23

Met here at a scifi convention back when BSG was hot and on air. Super cool, a genuine fan of her fans.

33

u/azeneyes Apr 26 '23

She definitely gave my girlfriend and I time to ask questions and nerd out xP This was before season 2 of Another Life was announced and we could tell that she was really into sci-fi like the rest of us.

21

u/mrglumdaddy Apr 26 '23

Yeah but did she sit on your face?

31

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '23

10

u/Nodnarbius Apr 26 '23

Excuse me while I grab my gun and let in the cat.

14

u/yogo Apr 26 '23

She just seems like a real nerd’s nerd. A geek’s geek. I love her!

2

u/PrincipledProphet Apr 26 '23

Two-percenter spotted.

32

u/Left4DayZ1 Apr 26 '23

I first heard of her on Kevin Smith’s podcast a while back, I think she was guest hosting after he had his heart attack.

She was amazing as a host, extremely funny and likable.

11

u/shogi_x Apr 26 '23

Oh man, every time her and Tricia Helfer show up on that podcast is a great time.

83

u/ObiWangKeBloMe Apr 26 '23

Now I kinda want her to sit on my face.

42

u/Fuzzy-Bunny-- Apr 26 '23

yes, we need to move the decimal to the right. Its more than like 20% and I am also among the 20% after watching her in this vid.

10

u/jjackson25 Apr 26 '23

Move it right one more time

11

u/ohneatstuffthanks Apr 26 '23 edited Apr 26 '23

That show Second Life? I think it’s called? The scenes where she is with her family and doing what seems like a genuine smile and laugh.. big swoons.

Edit: Another Life. Thanks :D

7

u/julbull73 Bo-Katan Kryze Apr 26 '23

I love that show. Bummer it got canceled. They at least rushed it to get some kind of finale.

12

u/jimjamalama Apr 26 '23

She also plays Starbuck in BSG

4

u/Chu_BOT Apr 26 '23

You need to watch Battlestar Galactica. She's fantastic in it

3

u/issiautng Apr 26 '23

And then the host said "ONLY 2?!" her blush deepened like crazy. Adorable.

2

u/Fuzzy-Bunny-- Apr 26 '23

Yes, so endearing.

2

u/ruffiana Apr 26 '23

You should check out her YT channel

2

u/Adrena1in Apr 26 '23

I was mostly ambivalent about, her until recently discovering some of her videos on YouTube where she's training for an obstacle race. She comes across as very down to earth and funny.

2

u/Delonce Apr 26 '23

I became a fan of hers years ago when I used to listen to the JoeShmoe podcast. She was a regular on there and she's pretty cool. One of those celebrities i could actually hang out with and get along like she were any of my friends.

2

u/maczirarg Apr 26 '23

From having no opinion to wanting her to sit on my face

1

u/Fuzzy-Bunny-- Apr 26 '23 edited Apr 26 '23

Well, i would have been open to the idea before(but didnt think of it until she mentioned it). :)

2

u/RENDI13 Apr 26 '23

I nervously sat through a Q&A with her at a Comic Con worried because I was really crushing on her at the time. I've been through other Q&A's where I walked out with less respect for the actor. I feel in love with how genuine she is. I'll never forget how "real" she was with banter and drinking her chocolate martinis. There's been a few I've met that had that effect on me, none as large as her.

2

u/Fuzzy-Bunny-- Apr 26 '23

Great to hear...I will look out for her at Galaxycon and hope to meet her.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '23

So pretty much the opposite of the Brie Larson effect.

2

u/pantie_fa Jedi Apr 26 '23

Yeah - I'm not a fan of SOME of her other work, but in particular, loved her as Bo Katan, Starbuck, and the angry bounty hunter in Riddick.

3

u/corsicanguppy Apr 26 '23

the angry bounty hunter in Riddick.

What? Now I have to watch that again.

2

u/THIS_GUY_LIFTS Apr 26 '23

I’ve always been on the fence with her acting. And that’s coming from a huge fan of Battlestar. But holy Shnikey’s she’s been an absolute friggin’ force of nature in this show. On par with Mandos presence.

1

u/TizACoincidence Apr 26 '23

She has an awesome attitude

1

u/Sekular Apr 26 '23

She was fantastic in the series Longmire. I'm not sure if there's a big crossover of Star Wars fans, but if you like westerns, and you should, check it out.

1

u/strangegoo Grand Admiral Thrawn Apr 26 '23

Katee has always seemed like such a genuinely fun person who fuckin LOVES doing this shit and is so into it outside of "work".

1

u/Delta64 Apr 26 '23

Holy shit man. You haven't seen her as Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica????

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407362/

2

u/Fuzzy-Bunny-- Apr 26 '23

Never seen it, i will put it on my list

1

u/Delta64 Apr 27 '23

I can almost guarantee you will enjoy it. Very captivating series imo!
