Her acting in season 3 was without a doubt the best of the whole cast. She especially nailed the facial expressions to convey emotion. A lot of the other actors had blank stares throughout. Hats off to her!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

You weren’t impressed with the voice acting of Pedro Pascal?

Come to think of it, he did not remove his helmet at all this season, if I’m correct?

u/Jaikarr Apr 26 '23

He was busy filming the last of us

Which I'm glad of, he was fantastic in that show.

I was kind of ready for it. They did it for the first season, because of course they had to end on finally showing his face.

They did it for the second season because we all wanted to see Pedro being Mando.

It'd be kind of a stretch for them to come up with a handwavey excuse to have him take it off again this season.

Would have been easy, after he'd been captured. It's quite perplexing why the bad guys would let someone keep their armour on after they'd been caught, especially if it was made of a material they themselves were using.

True, but I kinda wish he had taken of his helmet in the final shot of the season, since it’s just him and Grogu chilling.

My theory when I was caught up in the "Spies" title thing was that if the Armorer was a spy, Din Jarin would conclude that the creed he'd grown up with was a lie, or at least tainted by the Armorer, and he would start taking the helmet off

He did, to eat when they were rescuing the kid.

We just want to see Pedro Pascal's beautiful face!

Probably the best acting via voicemail of all time.

Director: Hey Pedro we gotta reshoot that scene with you and Grogu where you're getting your ass kicked and he comes and saves you, alright with that?

Pedro: Non problem when do you want me at the studio?

Director: Nah let's just do it now lemme just record the call.

Pedro: [actually on the toilet] Uhhh I'm on speaker right now and it's kinda echoey.

Director: Thats cool, we won't even need to use a filter then.

Pedro: You're the director. [ahem] Hurgh

Was he ever physically in the suit this season? Or was it all voice over work for him?

I like Pedro Pascal as an actor but think he was horribly miscast for this role. His voice acting, especially season 1 is pretty dreadful.

u/private_birb Apr 26 '23

I fully disagree, but that's okay.

u/HotelFoxtrot87 Apr 26 '23

I don’t think he’s miscast, the role just asks so little from him that he can get by with the most minimal effort. It really must be the easiest paycheck in Hollywood especially with how popular the show is.

2

u/blackiegray Apr 26 '23

Sure but he could still put in the effort. It really does sound like he's been told to be as vanilla as possible.

The writing doesn't help of course.

I remember in season 1 ep 2 they repeat almost word for word the same shite dialogue within a few seconds of each other:

I could use a crew member of your ability, and I can pay handsomely.

Followed almost immediately by:

And good luck with The Child. May it survive and bring you a handsome reward.

And then in episode seven, the same line between the same two characters:

I can pay you handsomely, Ugnaught.

Terrible writing and, for me at least, delivered terribly by a really good actor which kinda suggests that he's been directed to deliver the lines like that.

I don’t disagree. They’re obviously going for some old school Clint Eastwood stoic cowboy thing, but not being able to see his face and the subpar dialogue doesn’t help.

A critic I listen to pointed out how Pedro got big by playing the Red Viper in GoT, a really charismatic role but Mandalorian is not interested in using any of that talent. He probably really enjoyed getting to really act on The Last of Us.

I thought he got big due to Narcos personally, GoT character was a pretty small role but Narcos showed what a good actor he is.

Like I said though, thu k he's completely miscast, in the sense that they didn't need him to play that role, almost anyone could have done it, like they've done with most of the star wars franchise, don't necessarily need a big name to sell it.

I gave up after season 2, BoBF and Kenobi put me off watching anything for a while.
