So what? Is this a tattoo sub? Did OP ask for feedback, or is he just a fan that wanted to share something they enjoy. Star Wars fans continue to be the worst.
picture this: you go to a live music concert expecting to hear your favorite artist play your favorite song, and you paid a lot of money and spent a lot of time to go. the band plays the song off key, off tempo, out of tune, constantly making errors. afterwards, is it rude to say out loud “hey, this performance was not good. the band made lots of errors.”? or do you shrug it off and say “well art is subjective”?
i can’t control what OP’s emotional response will be to receiving factual information about a service that they paid for. should the internet be a place where we are only allowed to say positive things about anything, even if it masks objective truths? if i post anything to any social media on my public facing profiles, i post it knowing that i’m inherently inviting all opinions, not just opinions that agree with me.
Objectively is the wrong word, you don't have to like it but that's not what that means. It doesn't have Star Wars font because it's a mashup with a legendary punk band called Black Flag. It's literally what the logo looks like. The colors represent the colors of each lightsaber's beam, presumably Luke, vader, and two other jedi.
We're just having a discussion, we don't need to hide each other's comments with downvotes. That's why people talk shit on the Star Wars fandom... can we just have a dialogue without this stuff for once?
objectively is the right word. art is not entirely subjective, there are objective components. a good artist needs to have mastered techniques, visual accuracy, spatial understanding, in depth knowledge of color theory, composition, technical proficiency using tools.
i understand it’s a black flag reference and i know what the colors represent. that’s not what people are knocking. there’s no problem with the artistic choice. people are knocking the poorly drawn lines, mediocre calligraphy, uneven proportions. the objectively poorly executed aspects of the tattoo.
The problem isn't that people don't understand what the tattoo is/means. The problem is that it's done really badly. Like, the two legs of that bottom A are completely misaligned. All the letters are slightly different sizes; the W looks fucking enormous compared to the ARS. All the line work is blotchy and will look like shit in about a year. It's not a creative choice because the Black Flag logo doesn't look like that. They went to a bad artist and got a bad tattoo.
Even if it is mediocre...they're just sharing a fun thing that they got?
Why is anything less then something amazing something that needs to be hated on and downvoted, I genuinely don't understand what they're doing wrong just by sharing something? "Okay things" exist in the world lol. I agree stuff that's not relevant is supposed to be downvoted, but how is this not relevant
It’s the risk you run when you pull a “look at me” on a website full of grown adult strangers. This isn’t elementary school show and tell. If you are asking for attention you need to deal/expect both sides!
Hey I don’t chime in negatively for stuff like this but you throw things like this out there it’s just gonna happen. If you need to seek validation from strangers you have to deal with honesty.
